Giáo án Tiếng Anh 11 Unit 8: CELEBRATIONS Part A: READING Objectives Help students understand the content of the reading (how Vietnamese people celebrate their Lunar New year / Tet) and the new words in context Students can Tasks 1, 2, Methods Communicative approach Teaching aids Cassette player, chalks, board, pictures Teaching procedures STAGE Teacher’s activities A Pre– Warm up Reading 6’ Students’activities -Teacher shows the picture in the textbook and raises some questions like these Are the people in the picture members of the same family? -Answer  Yes / Yes, they are 2 What time of the year is it? What are they doing? (5’) What you often on that - Work in groups day? While- - Give some cues related to some - Listen carefully Writing popular celebrations Our (25’) students’ description should include the following main points:  name of the celebration  time of the celebration  purpose of the celebration  main activities of the celebration  his / her feeling about the celebration - Have students the writing - Take notes - Do the writing Post- - Have the representatives of two - Write the descriptions on the Writing groups to write their description (15’) board on the blackboard Suggested Writing: Describing a celebration: Teachers’ Day Every year, on November 20th , all schools throughout our country celebrate Teachers’ Day It is a good time for students to show their love, respect and gratitude towards their teachers On the morning of November 20th , all students are at school to attend the celebration and enjoy the music show played by our school band and other students After that we give our teachers beautiful flowers, cards and best wishes We also pay a visit to our former teachers in the afternoon I enjoy Teachers’ Day because it is on that day that we can show our gratitude towards our teachers - Give remarks and correct mistakes - Listen and take notes * HOMEWORK : - Students reread carefully the description, practise rewriting it - Prepare Part E – Language Focus Unit 8: CELEBRATIONS Part E: LANGUAGE FOCUS Objectives Pronunciation: Students can pronounce properly the sounds /fl/, /fr/ and /Hr/ Grammar: Students use pnonoun ONE(S) and some other indefinite pronouns ( someone, no one, anyone, everyone ) Methods Communicative approach Teaching aids textbook, chalks Teaching procedures STAGE Teacher’s activities Students’ activities A Pronunciation Warm up -Ask students to read the dialogue in the -Work in pairs  read textbook (p.97) aloud the dialogue in the textbook - Go to the board to group the words from the Practice -have the students listen and repeat the dialogue words provided B Grammar Pronoun ONE(S) Pronoun ONE(S) is used to avoid -choral and individual repetition repeating a noun when you are referring to sb/sth that has already mentioned Example: +Which pen would you prefer, the blue or the red one? +These cases are heavy Those ones are light SOMEONE, NO ONE, ANYONE and EVERYONE are used with singular -Work in pairs verbs +SOMEONE and EVERYONE are used in affirmative sentences +ANYONE is used in interrogative sentences +with NO ONE, the verb is in affirmative Example: +Look!
