Period: 1 date: Unit 1: a visit from a pen pal ( Lesson 1: getting started and listen & read) A./ objectives: I. Warm-up: Getting started: Matching (pictures at page 6) *) answer key: a,Den Hung festival d,National museum b,The Temple of Literature e, Foodstall c,Dong Xuan market f, Nha Rong harbor T: asks Ss to match the phrases with the pictures and then gets feedback Ss: work in groups and then give their answers T:gives the situation:” your foreign pen pal is coming to stay with you. What places would you take him to? Ss: ask and answer the question in pairs and then present their ideas. III. Focus - ask Ss to do them in 3 minutes and then invite Ss to the board. - check Ss / work with the whole class. - close the books and read through the Qs. -listen and then share their answers in pairs - read out their answers. - check their answers, - read through the task - work in groups to share their ideas - give their choices & explain the reason (distinguish the differences between subjunctive mood & indicative mood) - Tu: No, I do not - give their ideas - pay attention to the way to rewrite the sentences - share their work in groups & write their answers on the board. - check it with teacher. What language will you use to introduce the lesson. 1.pre-speaking: a)Act.1: put the dialogue in the correct order (Part a-P.8) 1-c-5-b-4-d-2-e-3-a-6 - introduce the conversation between Nga and Maryam and help Ss to pronoun: introduce, Kuala Lumpur. - ask Ss to rearrange the dialogue. - give feedback & ask them to play the role. - invite 2 pairs to practise the dialogue. - correct if necessary. 2.while-speaking a)Act.1: Make the similar dialogue, using the given information. Example: Nga: Hello. You must be Yoko Yoko: That is right. I am. Nga: Pleased to meet you. Let me introduce myself. I am Nga. Yoko:Pleased to meet you. Nga. Are you one of Lan / s classmate? Are you enjoying your -discuss and speak out the expressions used in this situation - follow T / s instructions - work in groups & give their answers - practise the dialogue - play the role 3 expressions staying in VN? Nga: . - explain the task and elicit the used language from Ss. - ask them to work in pairs. - invite 6 pairs to practise - correct if necessary 3.post-speaking: a,Act.1:Roleplay Situation: David is from England. He is coming to visit you. Ask him about his country and tell him about your hometown. - hang on the situation and explain the way to do - invite 3 pairs to the front. - ask the whole class to give comments. - make the model with teacher - do pairwork, take turn to be Paul and then Jane - make the dialogue - correct themselves. - work in groups to make the dialogues - play the role of David and himself/herself - give their way to do. Did you visit your friends . - introduce the tasks of the lesson. 1.pre-writing: a)Act.1: Brainstorm - present the Net and focus Ss on the past activities. - ask Ss to work in groups and list out the activities they did. - get feedback and write them on the B.B. 2.while-writing: a)Act.1: Write a letter to Mary and talk to her about your last vacation.
