A.INTRODUCTION Nowadays, education and training have been many developments in many fields, facilitating the development of a powerful country in order to reach an advanced education to create the the new dynamism, creativity, autonomy and capacity to meet the demands of a new society Due to mechanism open relations with other countries in the world in terms of political economy and society This relationship is effective, each of us has to use the language to communicate fluently Today, English is an important language, standard for the whole world Computer systems, information technology are installed entirely in English The importance of English for the current period Party and the government has taken this subject in education Previous method taught English in schools are traditional Teachers work more students and most students follow the teacher only full but not really positive in school activities Therefore, the issue of innovation method teaching is also an urgent requirement for a foreign language Especially for the secondary school level English course a very new subject for most residential areas in the province Teacher should be aware of the role and importance of teaching and learning English in order to create a firm basis for language learning movement not only the district in particular but also the province in general Because of the importance that I have brought all the enthusiasm of youth to cultivate, learn, explore experience gained from books, documents and colleagues in order to have the best teaching methods Through that experience today I strongly contribute to science conference about the theme "Some methods for promoting students’ positive ,creative and initative in teaching English at secondary school" To help students interested in studying, I tried researching the documents about the method and combined with practical experience in the teaching process I hope my experience will be a small document to refer colleagues B PROBLEM SOLVING I-RATIONALE OF THE PROBLEM English is the study of social, practical, lively and attractive students.It helps students learn and discover the essence of the world as well as humanity.Especially , English is the language of communication, a bridge of friendship among Vietnam and countries around the world English is considered as the communication language of the world and many countries use English as their second language For students, English is a relatively difficult subject Especially, more difficult for students are not hard As Vietnamese people speak a foreign language, they are often afraid of taking an entire book in a foreign language , not Vietnamese I think the first thing is to inspire learning using the game approach to help students positively learning English For secondary students, they generally obey, but the lessons inspiring the children with games among the teams, organization, group work are very important and necessary It helps them remember all longer, help them understand at school, it also will help them more confidence to take part in specific activities Therefore ,it helps students be interested in subjects and study well Through researching objectives of each lesson, I myself find to choose, explore the most appropriate technique for the object of my students, helping them step by step approach with new methods in order to promote dynamic, active and giving them the most effective for teaching hours In the process of teaching, I always go right basic task of the subject is the first step to help them become familiar with the language and form some basic skills, which they can apply to communicate On that basis, teaching ensures basic, modern, practical and specific subjects Basic properties are shown in knowledge system is introduced in the textbook program Modernity is to be consistent with the actual situation is in the process of integration with the open country, in the selection and application of scientific methods of teaching and learning foreign languages most advanced in the world today Regarding the characteristics of the subject is to help you increase your skills: listening - speaking - reading - writing and may apply proficient in communication Each of teacher encourages students to speak fluently The preparation of teachers and students is essential in order to get good results in teaching and learning Teacher prepares visual aids such as pictures, photos, diagrams, real objects and the simple drawing board, paper or paperboard The intuitive user objects to ensure dimension to the whole class can be clearly observed, the content is simple, concise, easy to understand, close to the actual situation of their lessons In addition, I also prepared a series of questions for oral hours and put them in a situation to their reflexes, skills training Preparatory work of the role is to review what has been learned through the game, or you can prepare for a new lesson In the process of teaching, I try to use all methods to facilitate their communication and use of language to satisfy the communication needs, but must them voluntarily, actively and positively II STATE OF THE RESEARCH PROBLEM To state: Through the survey, I had some characteristics of advantages and disadvantages of the three grade which I assumed the 2013 -2014 school year: * Advantages: Most children ages together are good Most of them proved to be talented in English Students in class 9C are better than students in class 9B and class 9A * Disadvantages: Many of students have little vocabulary ,bad pronunciation, and are unable to speak English confidently From this investigation, I have found the appropriate measures for each lesson There may be applied only to the improvement in the class are selected, but the key is how to teach their hours fascinated by all students, especially undergraduate subjects they learn English, to promote their positive and is helping them get excited atmosphere, heated to acquire all Results and effectiveness of this situation After finishing a lesson taught in English books , I checked a few problems with the content they learned , I see them achieve the following: More than 90% of students understanding quality but they are not all still high, not mastery learning, knowledge no logic, no deep understanding of knowledge in the learning process because they are passive acquire knowledge, learning activities has not been promoted Class Mark Mark 1-2 Mark 3-4 Mark 5-6 Mark 7-8 Mark 9-10 9A 2% 18% 36% 27% 17% 0% 9B 5% 20% 38% 25% 12% 0% 9C 1% 18% 35% 24% 22% 0% The result above shows that the mark of the first semester in English is low After a year , I recognized that most of them have good methodology, 100% of students have solved the textbook exercises, learn self-study method, to look for new knowledge and better methods, more self-aware, quality is significantly improved III SOLUTIONS AND IMPLEMEMTATION The implementation solutions * For teachers: - Teachers are always researching, exploring suitable solutions to the individual students and applying for the lesson - Examine carefully the contents of textbooks and lessons to understand the intentions of the author, focused knowledge that students need to grasp and appropriate discipline - Regular exchanges with colleagues to solve problems, the process of teaching and draw lessons for the following teaching hours - Be interested in helping students learn at home and at school - Classification of students to discipline accordingly - Teachers use the necessary teaching aids and training quality yourself using teaching aids effectively * For students: To promote a positive, dynamic, agile and innovative, giving students the passion and excitement of learning in English Involving students take part in positively and effectively * Exellent students - Give the advanced exercises and practise four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing - Collect and use good form of exercise, the exercise, the communication situations * Weak students - Check regularly the classroom and at home - Notice the two-way teachers and parents about the situation and learning to supervise - To encourage, motivate and interest in the circumstances and conditions for students in active measures in fostering a sense of learning and help children understand the meaning and importance of the subject in English The implementation measures - The detection and remedy the cause of a division students are not interested in learning English and should develop specific plans at the beginning of the school year This work must be carried out continuously and implemented through specific post - Students are equipped with the basic knowledge, will unleash their abilities in the class, discover things which they did not understand and active activities in classroom * Implementation: Effective use of channel formation English textbooks 6, 7, 8, : Channel formation of the new English textbooks is also an advantage that teachers can utilize to generate interest in promoting integration extremely creative initiative of students Pictures made vivid, compelling, rich content closely with the requirements of each activity is a favorable factor in the teaching process, teachers can use the image directly in textbooks or can enlarge or render these images to support the teaching of new situations or to exercise Secondary school age children, although cognitive abilities have relatively high stability, but they still forgetful and often lose focus when they faced to difficult contents Therefore , the image is used in effect lectures attracted their attention, interest and create favorable conditions for the children during the initial memorandum Use logical channel in the form of textbooks is a necessary job and requires teachers to research Thus, this is also one of the first step of promoting the proactive creation of self-study student in English at secondary school level Using the intuitive user: As I mentioned above, in the form of channels textbooks are rich and diverse, but still not enough for all the operations in all operating contents of the lecture , so teachers must be active and creative in making and using intuitive utensils Visual appliances is one of the factors contributing to the success of a lecture Visually vivid abstract thinking is the shortest way of cognitive processes, to create excitement for students, visual appliances must be rich in color, shape and attractive interior capacity to attract students Using drawings, real objects, ect to teach new words will bring high efficiency.At the same time ,students are heard, observed and spoken names of objects Besides, utensils visually appealing teacher helps the students with their shy and afraid to operate on lessons a very natural way as they swept under the lively atmosphere of the classroom For the older students, particularly students in grades 9, intuitive supplies not only the pictures, objects of pure, creative teachers need additional supplies flexible nature may use long term for many different teaching purposes To promote students to actively creative, the gestures and speech of teachers in the classroom is extremely important It is said that the teacher as an actor on stage The actors that get people to love you and play successfully or not, they have focused on the play which is determined by one's acting talent and the teacher ,too I’m sure that each student does not have the fun and excitement with lessons when teachers always shouting at students or unhappy face , so teachers always give the class a fun atmosphere with happy facial gentle gesture Sometimes they also have a bit of a joke (but not overused) In addition to, teachers also pique the curiosity and curiosity of students In the age group of 12-15 students are very active and curious They are easily attracted to the issues that concern them Therefore ,the compilation of current textbooks have focused on topics close to the students, in accordance with qualifications and psychology of children, in line with the needs of their hobby Encourage students to practice and practice foreign languages To get interested in this course, the students need to feel their own progress Thus teachers not only use the situation to attract students in class activities, but also encourage some students to learn To help them feel their progress in learning, teachers need to set the learning goals to them, not too high In addition to encourage students under the motto test and accept mistakes during practice hours Teachers not give them the psychological fear of making mistakes in practice In fact, some of them knew but did not dare speak for fear of making mistakes , so we should not be too hard on the small errors ,for eaxmple : Error pronunciation or spelling, even with the large errors in grammar practice hours We should also encourage to inspire or make sure that they are discouraged by cheering and encouragement motivated by questions such as: "very good, thank you, not bad." Or when a student practises examples as well write an article and read before class we can to encourage students to clap them Or there are the comments as to encourage them to all of them very good.The writing is very clear but the writing is not beautiful ,students need to try harder Teachers should not fix a rough such as : Interrupt students when they are talking This makes them discouraged and lose interest We can fix after they finished speaking to one child or fix for you 6.Some games and teaching tips in order to promote proactive creativity of students through teaching English at secondary school that I have specifically applied to grade in the 2013- 2014 school year a Games to check old lesson and lively atmosphere created at the beginning lessons include: matching, hangman, bingo, shack attack, metal game, jumble words, net words, simon drunk, brain storm, wordsquare, chatting, noughts and crosses, pelmanism I chose a suitable method for learners and frequent changes of method to avoid the boredom that was created for students to practice and apply skills of each game I also create excitement and appropriate competition for college students while saving medicinal tea interval training are: hangman, bingo, shark attack, jumble words b.I have adopted new methods to teach vocabulary At the beginning, I have seen much more lively class, students participate actively in class You learn not only excellent students abu also weak students In each lesson , I will only cover a maximum of words and the words initiative Since the initiative was the word appears in all practice speaking and writing skills These words I have to focus in lessons to help students not only grasp the meaning of a word that can be used to speak and write in context with similar social situations Before introducting words, I would suggest to you to guess the word, may be in English for specific words or simple For example: T: Where can I buy bread? SS: At the bakery Or you can use Vietnamese to suggest guess from that explain them in English ,it is difficult to understand them T: Did you know our country under any climatic belt? SS: "The climate is tropical" T: All right "Tropical climate" SS: Repeat: "tropical climate" I can guess through pictures T: So you see pictures of Hanoi and asked, "What is it?" SS: It is Hanoi T: What is Hanoi? SS: It is the capital of Vietnam One way is to use the fastest guess from the real thing T: Raise your children to see a short-sleeved shirt and asked: "What is this?" SS: It is a short-sleeved blouse Moreover , you can use synonyms or antonyms to guess : T: This exercise is difficult SS: No, it is easy When I introduced words , I introduced one by one First of all, I pronounce, students listen , then ask the class to repeat ,after that write up to their word recognition, and that kind of word such as : nouns, verbs, adjectives,or adverbs For example with the necessary training in the post ,I introduced respectively and fully implement the steps outlined above After introducing enough I ask the whole class to read in chorus To test the memory their words , I have used tips "Rub out and remember" that in turn they were removed from the study When I rub words , I will ask students to repeat, continue to so until some new words on the board to erase all meanings while thinking that they have to remember the words they just learned Then I call some of them written on the board and ask the class for you or I fix the puzzle Thus , from to 10 minutes, students may remember from my right amount 10 introduced, but depending on the subject and in different classes, the requirements set out accordingly After applying this procedure over all and in many different classes, I see from the grasp of the children have better results, not the weakness that they may remember some of the words, the class or more exciting, they are interested in lessons In addition to, I also applied some other techniques like "What and where", "Noughts and crosses", "Bingo", "Slap the board", "Guess the picture words", "Word squares" and more another games It creates atmosphere environment for the children To check the level of their acquisition , I have to ask questions and use form to fill in the blanks : T: It is the result of an abrupt shift in the underwater movement of the Earth We call it a SS: We call it a Tidal wave Or T: A person who is an Comes from other planet SS: An alien Because of this test, they can turn to repeat the words which theyhave just learned c.After applying new methods to teach vocabulary result, I applied the game to introduce new articles and practice deepened knowledge of all including dialogue presentation, picture story, wordcues, matching, T / F prediction, comprehention questions, ordering statements, answers given, open prediction, picturedrill, substitution, repeatation drill, listen and draw, ordering pictures, T / F statements 11 For example, when I taught wish sentence , I made a real question "Nam does not have a computer." What would Nam wish ? Students will speak "Nam wishes he had a computer" Then the students give form sentences Therefore , I just need to practice making real question for students to move on to the convention According to the new method practise to teach model sentence , demonstrating a certain grammar topics The training was conducted according to the principles practiced consciously listening -speaking - reading - writing It means that while training, students are not opened the books for the purpose of training This helps students practice habits smoothly, precisely controlled sayings In order for the training to be easy, we have prepared for you by informing the meaning and content of the said communication New words should be taught before grammar and pronunciation through some old structure, so when given the new reduced minimum level of difficulty of the exercise Doing this in order to demonstrate the principles and practice of consciously teach in question as prescribed Rhythm training model sentences should be continuous and dynamic While maneuvering class, we have in place covering layer, oriented to the attention of the children The implementation should be carried out for all children, not just focus on children rather that we must make the simple question, easier for children to learn weaker than can be done To create a language environment at school, I used language to direct the practice, we can use the simple words commonly used to help communicate as "Read after me, please!" B: No, I have not From the construction of the conversation, you'll get the hang of adverbs "Already, yet" in the present perfect tense Then I give them homework to replace the sample preparation I want to replace the underlined part that you understand the parts to be replaced and conduct replaced respectively I continued to drill the remaining questions d.To test the new language understanding and use of phrases or reinforce the lesson content, I have used a number of games such as discussion, write it up, find someone who, lucky numbers, lucky stars, mapped dialogue, noughts and crosses, tranformation, writing, chain games, role play, survey, question and answer, guessing games, exhibition For example: I used "Noughts and crosses" to consolidate present perfect tense T: They look nine verbs which they have learned, ask each student to find a verb and write on the board write take buy see clean go drive visit leave After you have found enough numbers, I give rules that they have to put sentences in the present perfect tense with the adverb "already" or "yet" and divide the class into two teams, if any team set correct answers horizontally, vertically, cross the team that wins One team will be denoted by (0) and the other side is denoted by (X) 13 Therefore , they must take together to win After applying to teach in the classroom, I see that students are excited, enthusiastic participation at school, at the same time it encourages weak students ,too In addition to, I also used some other tips to check and possibly for some exercises to improve their practice through the game, each group and each team For example, find and correct the mistakes I have already meet Russia Have you saw this movie yet? They spend the weekend work has not finished yet With this exercise ,the medium and weak students can In order for them to learn rather more, I give them more exercises and ask them to complete sentence through the game Team that finished before the specified time and have the best team which will win For example: The Students / already leave / classroom You / / Your homework / yet? Male / have not / breakfast / yet Or maybe they exercises to rearrange the order of the sentences to become correct answers and meanings For example: Already / visited / We / Halong Bay / have You / have / yet / HCM city / Been to? The procedure adopted and coordinated with the method ,I find effective teaching and learning results than the previous school and especially lively Good students help weak students This encourages students to take the initiative and actively learning IV.TESTING 14 The research results above show that doing the researches not only helps the students understand the lessons well and have a good chance to practice what they have learnt but the teachers themselves benefit from it a lot To achieve this requires the teacher to invest time, effort and intelligence to discover treasures of knowledge It is also necessary for the teachers to select proper methods so that they can promote the students’ proactive ability in learning English.They really work under my guidance and not passively absorb and machinery as before and the results of their study also obvious changes The proportion of good students increases Especially in the 2013-2014 school year ,there are three students achieved the provincial gifted students I have to invest time and intellect to my students have favorite subjects I see that giving the game at school helps students learn effectively Teach a period with method above , test results of students have progressed significantly Specifically: Class Mark Mark 1-2 Mark 3-4 Mark 5-6 Mark 7-8 9A 0% 0% 3% 30% 40% 9B 0% 0% 5% 32% 38% 9C 0% 0% 0% 26% 44% C CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Mark 9-10 27% 25% 30% I CONCLUSIONS To promote students’ positive ,creative and initative in teaching English at secondary school ,the teacher should note the following issues: - The context should be clear introduction - inspire students with gestures , sayings’ tearchers in the classroom and pique the curiosity of students -encourage students to practice and practice foreign languages - Games play an important role in teaching and learning in English It helps to acquire knowledge to become fun, excitement and creativity By participating in 15 the game, the students not feel learning difficulties or rigid because most games are high collective Therefore ,it requires them to be active, agile, proactive and coordinated well with others in their group to win II RECOMMENDATIONS AND PROPOSAL: Knowledge is like an endless ocean The English teaching methods are plentiful and flexible, depending on many factors Therefore, the teachers should find themselves the most appropriate way to achieve the best result but not be mechanical and rigid Although this is only my private experience as a result of my teaching everyday, I hope it will be beneficial to other teachers and students Beside, it reminds me not to stop learning and studying to find out new teaching methods and interesting activities so that I can achieve the best effects This is my personsal study, so some mistakes are unavoidable I hope to get any comments from kind-hearted colleagues so as that my research will be better Vinh Loc ,10 / / 2015 I swear this is my theme , not copy other people's content The confirmation of the headmaster Writer Le Thi Hien 16 17
