Period 01 Week 01 INTRODUCING THE SUBJECT AND HOW TO LEARN Preparing date:22/08/08 Teaching date:25/08/08 I. Objectives: T helps Ss get acquainted with the subject and the ways to study it effectively - After the lesson, Ss will be able to know about the lesson clearly and have inspiration to study it. II. Preparation: - Text book, chalk - Exbook… III. Teaching procedures 1. Organization: Greetings: Good afternoon! Checking attendance:Is everybody here? 2. Oral test: - T checks the preparation of Ss. 3. New lesson: A. Warm- up: - Chat with Ss about some funny stories in studying this subject. B. Presentation: ∗Getting acquanted with the subject. - It’s a difficult but interesting subject with 16 units each unit can be divided in to 6 lessons. - Each term contains 8 Units. - Whole school year has 105 periods in which: the first term has 54 periods and the other has 51. - Ss have 9 periods for Revision and Testing. ∗ Guides to study effectively: - Tpresents the way to study effectively and gives some techniques: + Practice regularly. + Pay much attention to the lesson during the time in the class. + Do exercises right after studying in the class and listening to the T carefully. + Spend much time to practice at home and in the classroom with their classmates. + Be much self-confident in all studying activities. 4. Consolidation: - Remind Ss the key points 5. Homework: - Prepare the new lesson. Unit 1: A1, 2, 3, 4. I/ OBJECTIVES: - Greeting people, introducing oneself. - Developing listening and speaking skills. II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS: - Grammar: To be (present simple tense) with the first and the third person (singular) - Vocabulary: words relating to greeting and introducing oneself. III. TECHNIQUES: - Role play. - Brainstorming. IV. TEACHING AIDS: - Pictures, cassette + tape. V. PROCEDURES: Presentation of the new lesson. 1. Classroom organization. -Greetings:Good afternoon! -Checking attendance:Is every body here? 2.Checking old lesson. -Check the preparation of the students. 3.New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities Content Warm up Teacher has students play game “brainstorming” and asks students to tell her what they say when they meet their friends. Students think of the question and give the answer. Mother language can be accepted. II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS: - Grammar: To be (present simple tense) - Vocabulary: words relating to greeting, introducing oneself and asking how people are. III. TECHNIQUES: - Role play. - Question – answers. - Brainstorming. IV. TEACHING AIDS: - Pictures, cassette + tape. V. PROCEDURES: Presentation of the new lesson. 1. Students 1 does exercise A1 page 4 and student 2 does exercise A2. 3.New lesson Teacher’s and Students’activities Language content Warm up * Brainstorming -Teacher introduces the lesson by giving the situation of speaking -Tell me what you do when you see your friends Presentation A5: Listen and repeat: Teacher uses the picture to introduce the situation of the dialogue. - Present the way to greet informally in English. - Teacher reads the dialogue first, then asks Ss to repeat aloud. -Ss listen to the tape -Teacher explains the new expression “How are you?” “I’m fine, thanks. And you?” Thanks = thank you Practice A6: Practice with a partner: - T sets the situation. -Student listens and repeats after the tape. - T does with one or two Ss to make it as example. Pair work: Using 2 pictures of Miss Hoa & Mr Hung/Nam & Nga to practice with a partner. - Get Ss to practice in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice. - Give some remarks. Ex: Nga: Hello, Hoa Hoa: Hi,Nga. Nga: How are you? Hoa: I’m fine, thanks and you? Nga: Fine, thanks. New Words: -Miss (n) -Mr (n) Production A7: Write in your exercise book: - T explains the exercise. -Teacher asks students to complete the dialogue and write them in their exercise book. - Get Ss to practice individually. - Call some Ss to practice writing on the board. - Get the others to give their remarks. - T gives some remarks and the correct answers. - Ss copy it to their exercise book. Teacher asks students to practice, using their real names. Some pairs perform before class. A8: Remember: - Teacher reminds Ss the way to greet and introduce their names. - Teacher gets some more Ss to practice. Nam:Hello,Lan How are you? Lan :Hi, I’m fine , thanks. 4. Consolidation: - Ask some good pairs to practice both greeting and introducing their names. 5. Homework: - Practice speaking at home. Period 04 Week 02 Unit 1: GREETINGS Section B:GOOD MORNING Lesson 3: B1,B2, B3,B4,B6 Preparing date:27/08/08 Teaching date:08/09/08 I. OBJECTIVES: After the lesson, Ss will be able to : - Greet each others basing on the time of the day -Express their concern about their friends’ health. - Say goodbye - Develope listening and speaking skills. II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS: - Grammar: To be (present simple tense) with the first person (plural) - Vocabulary: words relating to greeting and asking how people are. III. TECHNIQUES: - Role play. - Question – answers. - Brainstorming. IV. TEACHING AIDS: - Pictures, cassette + tape. V. PROCEDURES: 1. Classroom organization. -Greetings:Good afternoon! -Checking attendance:Is every body here? 2.Checking old lesson. Two students are asked to greet each other and introduce themselves. They are asked to enquire their friend’s health. 3.New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities Content Warm- up Teacher has students play game “brainstorming” Teacher uses 5 pictures to set the situations and asks students to guess the time of these pictures. Presentation B1: Listen and repeat: - Present the way to greet in English. - Ss listen to the native speaker on the cassette . -Pronounce the phrases. Then ask Ss to repeat aloud. - Ss listen to the tape and repeat. - Ask Ss to practice pronouncing aloud. - Call some Ss to practice in front of the class.
