Lesson Plan English 3 2013 - 2014 UNIT 1: HELLO LESSON 1 I. Objectives - Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to use vocabulary and structure about greeting. - Skill: practice speaking skill. II. Materials - Text book, word cards. III. Proceduce TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES I. Introduce new lesson - Class organization. - Check the previous lesson. - Introduce new lesson. II. New lesson 1. Warm – up: Chatting - Lets Ss introduce some information about themselves ( may be in Vietnamese) and introduce oneself in English. Example: Hello. I’m Lan ( Hi. I’m Lan). 2. Vocabulary Teaching vocabulary I ( translate) Hello ( translate) Asks Ss to repeat in chorus, in individual.  Look, listen and repeat Presenting new structure: - Gives a situation to present. - Elicits the structure by asking Ss to speak out the model sentences. Hello. I’m Mai Hi, Mai. I’m Nam I’m + name ( I’m = I am)  Look and say - Asks Ss to look at pictures a, b, c, d and introduce four characters. - Models the dialogue - Asks Ss to repeat - Asks Ss to work in pairs. - Checks Ss’ practice.  Talk - Asks Ss look at pictures on page 7 and identify the characters in the picture - Introduce about oneself. - Listen and copy down new words. - Read aloud - Listen and repeat. - Name characters. - Repeat. - Work in pairs. Vocabulary Teaching vocabulary: Good bye chào tạm biệt Bye  Listen and repeat - Have Ss to look at the book at page 10. - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying. - Set the scene: we are going to review phrases saying hello and bye. - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times. - Divide the class into two groups. One repeat Mai’s part and the other repeat Nam’ part. - T reads again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. - Elecit the structures  Look and say - Have Ss look at the pictures a, b, c and d on page 10 - Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - T models the parts of characters Mai and Nam to Ss. - Ask them to act out the dialogue1. Repeat the step with some other pairs for pictures b, c, d - Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The others observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.  Write - Gets Ss to identify the characters in the pictures on page 11 and what they are saying. - Tells Ss that they are going to read and get information to write the missing words in dialogue 1 and 2. - Asks Ss to complete the sentences. - Ask Ss to read the answers aloud to the class. - Ss can say in Vietnamese. - listen. - practice in 2 groups. - copy down the structure. - complete the speech bubbles. - work in pairs. - write the missing words in dialogue 1 and 2. - read aloud the answer.
