READING A– Aims and objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - use vocabulary items related to the issue of conservation. - guess the meaning of words based on contexts and components of the words. - scan for specific information about conservation. - skim for general ideas about conservation. B – Teaching Methods: Communicative approach. C – Teaching aids: Handouts, textbook, pictures, tape. D – Procedure: Time CONTENTS ACTIVITIES 1’ 6’ I. Class stabilization II. Check-up: can be omitted III. Warm-up: Game: “Picture talk” - T greets the class. Group work - T divides the class into two groups: Group A and group B. - T has Ss look at the pictures and tell the name of each picture. - T has Ss collect the underlined letters to make a meaning word. Pre-reading: Look at the pictures and answer the questions. (on page 104). + What animals are you interested in? Why? + Where can you see that animal? + Do we need to protect animals and forests? Task 1: Vocabulary and pronunciation. - T introduces the new lesson. Individuals work - T has Ss answer the questions. Then, choose the heading from task 3. - T calls on some pairs to give the answer. - T corrects Ss’ work. Group work - T divides class in group of four. - T has students summarize the lesson by answer the questions by using the knowledge from the reading text or your own idea. - T has the Ss show their work. - T and class check the answer collectively. Suggested answers: 1. Consequence of losing forest: - Destroying the Earth’s plant and animal variety. - Losing the sources of medicine. - Floods in rainy season. - Droughts in dry season. 2.
