TEACHING PLAN: ENGLISH 6 TERM II Date of preparing 5/1/2015 Date of teaching: 6c 12/1 UNIT 7: TELEVISION Lesson 1: Getting started Period 55 I. Objectives By the end of this lesson, students can. + know more about TV programmers. + ask and talk about a favorite TV programme. II. Main languages 1. Vocabulary: + All in the lesson and the words referring to the topics of the lesson 2. Grammar. + Wh - questions. III. Teaching aids. Teacher: Tape, cassette, poster Students: Textbook IV. Procedures: * Management * Checking the old lesson. * New lesson: Teacher and students’ activities Content 1. Warm up: - Greeting asking some questions leading to the lesson: + What do you do in your free time? + Do you like watching T.V? + When do you usually watch it? +What programmers do you usually watch it? + Is it interesting? - Helping the Ss give their answers if neccesary - Correcting. 2. Presentation: - Aking Ss look at the picture and answer. + Who are they? + What are they doing? + What can you see on T.V? - Playing the recording - Ss listen to the tape (twice) - Ss find out new words and Teacher explains new words. -Students read all new words on the board. - Have some students read them in front of the class. - Students listen to the tape again and repeat. 1. Listen and read * New words: + Programme (n) + cartoon (n) + stupid (adj) + TV schedule (n) + check (v) + local television (n) + national television (n) + educational (adj) + entertaining (adj) 1 - Have some pains of students read the dialogue in front of the class. - T explains how to use conjunctions “and, but, because”. - T gives examples and calls some Ss gives examples with “but, and” - T asks Ss read the dialogue again and answer the question. + Ss work in pairs. + Check in pairs - T asks some pairs of Ss to do in front of the class. S 2 : It is laughing out loud - Ss listen and write in their note book -Students work in groups (part b) - Check in groups - Call some do front of the class (2 groups) 3. Practice - T asks Ss: + There are a lot of programmes on TV. + Do you like the best programmes? Why? - T asks Ss to list the adjectives which they describe that programme. + Ss work in groups. + Have one student in each group do this exercise on the board. - The other groups give their ideas. G1: We like cartoons because they are good, funny , educational , entertaining G2: - Have one student in class talk about his or her favorite TV programme. * Grammar. - and EG: There is a book and a pen on the table . - but Eg: Tom is stupid but funny He is thin but strong. * Answer the questions . a) laughing out loud b) VTV 3 c) No , they aren’t d) Because he is awful e) Tom is stupid, but funny. b) Find the adjectives describing each character in the conversation and write them here. + Mr bear: funry, awful + Tom: stupid, funny + Jerry: intelligent , cool. * Put the correct word in the box under each picture. 1. National television. 2. news programme. 3. local television 4. comedy 5. game show 6. animal programme. 2 - T uses the pictures in part 2 and ask Ss to match the words with the right pictures. + Ss do independently. + Check students’ answers . = Have one student go black board and do - T asks Ss read the sentences carefully . - Ss do independently - T corrects - Ss work in group . - T explains the Ss that they do not have to say “ I like / I don’t like ” Ss can say “ There are enough programmes for children or I can watch many films” - Call groups do on the board - T corrects 4. Consolidation. - Talk about a TV programme you like or you dislike. Use adjectives and nouns in this lesson. 5. Homework. - Learn new words by heart - Answer the question “ list the name of programmes on TV” - Prepare next * Use suitable. Word complete the sentences. 1. Main language 1. Vocabulary: MC, weathermam, newsreader, remote control 2. Grammar: III. Teaching aids: T: Textbook, picture, CD. St: Textbook, sts' book. IV. Procedures : 1.Management: + Good morning. + How are you? +Who’s absent today? 2.Checking the old lesson - Write vocabulary. + Tell about some programmes on TV? + What is your favorite programme on TV? Why? 3. New lesson: Teacher and students' activities Content 1. Warm up - T gives some pictures and asks students write the name for each picture. + Students work in groups - Have some students in each group answer in front of the class. 2. Presentation - T asks Ss to look at the picture and teacher explains new words - Ss read all new words loudly. - Have some Ss read all new words on the board. 3. Practice - T asks ss to do this part in groups - Call the groups go to the blackboard and write. - T gives marks for each group - Ss listen to the tape and check their answer and repeat the words. - T asks Ss to write them in their notebook. - After finishing the part 1, teacher removes the part 2 + Ss read the words in the box. + Read sentence by sentence. + Ss do individualy +T asks Ss to check in pairs I. MC d. viewer e. remote control f. weatherman 2.Choose a word from the box for each description below. 4 + Have some Ss do in front of the class + T corrects and Ss write in notebook. - Teacher gives a game for Ss " What is it?" - T divides the class into 6 groups. Each group choose two words from the list on the book and work out a descriotion for each word.Teh group take turns reading the descriptions aloud. The other group try to get what word it is. The group with the most correct answers wins. - T asks Ss to listen very carefully to the words + T lets them focus on the / θ/ and / đ/ sounds and distingguish between them. - T explains how to read these sounds Eg: + than + they + there + those + T plays the recording again and asks Ss to listen to them and repeat. + Have some Ss read in front of the class. - Ss listen to the tape again - T goes around the class and checks. Check if they do it correctly. - Have two Ss write on the board. - T asks Ss to write in their notebook. - Ss listen to the tape - Listen again - Have some ss read in front of the class. 4. Consolidation - Read again the sounds / θ/ and / đ/ - Divide the class 4 groups and asks Ss find the words which have two sounds / θ/ and / đ/ 1. weatherman 2. newsreader 3. remote control 4. Warm up - Ss play a game " write the question words which have the letter begin by W, H, - T divides the class into 4 groups - The group with the most correct words wins 2. Presentation 6 - T asks Ss to read the conversation and underline the question words - T explains the question words through the answers ( each question word is used for a specific piece of information 3.
