Unit8: Celebrations Lesson 3 : Listening A. Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to fill the missing words by listening and practice singing the song. *Teaching aids:  Tape B. Content: I. Pre  listening: 1. Warm  up: Chatting  Do you like English songs? Can you sing any songs in English?  Do you know the song which is sung on New Year’s Eve ? 2. Pre–teach: – mind (n) : tâm trí, trí nhớ (synonym = memory) – Auld Lang Syne (n) : = the Good Old days (tên một bài hát) – Due to (a) : vì, do, bởi, tại vì/ phải (syn)= caused by – Aquaintance (n) : người quen (explanation) – Trusty (a) : đáng tin cậy (translation) – Thine = your(s) (từ cổ) : của bạn * Auld = old Lang = long Syne = since *Checking: R.O.R 3. Open  prediction:  Students read the song silently and guess the missing words (One word for one blank) II. While listening: - Ss listen to the song twice and check their prediction. - Compare the result with a partner. - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Listen again and correct Fill in the song *Key: a. Days b. Take c. Mind d. Hand e. Kindness III. Post  listening: 1.Practice singing the song 2. Grammar practice: Combine the sentences : Auld Lang Syne is a song. Auld Lang Syne is sung on New Year’s Eve.  Auld Lang Syne is a song which is sung on New Year’s Eve. Santa Claus is an old man. He gives children presents on Chrismas Eve.  Santa Claus is an old man who gives children presents on Chrismas Eve. Q : How many clauses are there in this sentence? - Underline the relative clause, ask students about its meaning, use, form. Form : … N (vật) + Which + (S) + V +…… … N (người) + Who + V + …. Meaning : Which : vật mà Who : người mà…. Use : Adjective clause (relative clause) là một mệnh đề phụ bổ nghĩa cho danh từ đứng trước nó. * Concept check : What is “who/ which” ?  Relative pronouns When do we use “who”? “which”? “Who” is used for person as S “Which” is used for thing as S or O Why do we call this clause “adjective clause”? When do we use “ adjective clause”? - Ask students to do LF 1,2 - Call on some students to check. *Key : LF1 : b, This watch is a gift which was given to me by my aunt on my 14th birthday. C, My friend Tom who sings Western songs very well can compose songs. D, We often go to the town culture house which always opens on public holidays. G, Judy liked the full-moon festival which is celebrated in mid fall very much. H, Tomorrow I’ll go to the airport to meet my friends who come to stay with us during the Christmas.
