Date:July 13 th 2010 I.OBJECTIVES :By the end of the lesson,students will be able to understand carefully the tenses and do the exercises well. Use - Thì quá khứ đơn diễn tả một việc đã xảy ra trong quá khứ . - Các động từ chuyển sang thì quá khứ đơn sẽ thêm đuôi ed , nếu động từ kết thúc bằng chữ e ở cuối thì ta thêm d luôn. 3. Adverd - Last year (, month , week ) - ago, yesterday, II. Past progressive tense: 1. Form S + was/ were + 2. Use: - Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn đợc dùng diễn tả một hành dộng xảy ra và chấm duút nhng kéo dài và tiếp diển quanh một mốc thời gian trong quá khứ. Eg: We were having supper at 10 olock last night. 3. Adverb: - while, when III. Modal verbs - Can, could, may, might , should, ought to, must *Can đuọc dùng diễn tả khả năng ở hiện tại. Eg: I can play the guitar. Can / could / may /might : Dùng để xin phép, đề nghị nhng MIGHT đựoc xem là trịnh trọng và lịch sự hơn. Could dợc dùng miêu tả khả năng trong quá khứ. Should, ought to: diễn tả lời khuyên hay đa ra quan điểm của ngời nói. Have to: dùng để diễn tả nghĩa vụ( duties) và trách nhiệm (obligation), có thể dùng diễn tả lời khuyên trong trờng hợp thân mật. Must: nhấn mạnh quyền lực của ngời nói hoạc những quy định đã trở thành luật.
