Aims : - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to scan reading for specific information. - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to skim reading for general ideas. II. Lexical items : - interaction - congenial - cutlery - etiquette - refrain from - acceptable III. Structures : - Fingers are not to be used except in the case of bread and other similar foods. - Chew with your mouth closed and, do not talk while chewing. IV. Teaching aids: - textbook - picture / drawings - chalk - handouts V. Techniques : - Skill – based ( reading, speaking, writing) VI. Warm- up & lead- in (3’) Game: Tunnel ball - Divide the class into three groups - Arrange the group in columns facing the board. Words on flashcards: 0. KNIVES 1. FORKS 2. flashcards - Give the student at the front of each column a board marker of a piece of chalk - Stand at the back of the columns and ask Ss at the back of each column to turn and face you. - Hold up a paper or flash card with a word, e.g. KNIFE - The St at the back of each column whispers the word to the next St in the column who must pass the word on to the next St. the next St passes the word on to the student in front of them and so on, until the student at the front writes up the word on the board. - The game continues in this way until all of the words have been passed down and written up. - Award points for the correct words written up by each group. - the group with the most correct words wins the game.
