The most exciting soccer match I have ever seen was the 1999 Champions’ League Final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the Nou Camp stadium in Barcelona
After 90 minutes Manchester United was losing 1-0 The Bayern Munich fans in the stadium were already celebrating their team’s victory The Manchester United fans in the stadium and millions around the world were watching in despair
There were now just three minutes of added time Twenty seconds passed and United got a corner The atmosphere in the stadium was incredibly intense All the Manchester United players were in the Bayern Munich penalty area David Beckham took the corner and Teddy Sheringham scored It was 1-1!
The Manchester United fans were ecstatic There was only about one minute left now, but United attacked again and scored another goal Now it was 2-1! Thirty seconds later
we heard the referee blow his whistle The match was over The United players were the champion! Many of the Bayern fans and players were crying They had lost the match in less than three minutes
The next day I read that the UEFA president missed both Manchester United’s goals He was going down to the field to give the cup to the German team when United scored their first goal, and he was going back up to his seat when they scored their second! Are you somebody who can’t wake up in the morning? Do you need two cups of coffee before you can start a new day? Do you feel awful when you first wake up? Scientists say it’s all because of our genes How did they find this out? Researchers interviewed
500 people They asked them questions about their lifestyle, for example, what time of day they preferred to exercise and how difficult they found it to wake up in the morning Scientists then compared their answers to the people’s DNA
They discovered that we all have a clock gene, also called a Period 3 gene This gene can be long or short People who have the long gene are usually very good in the morning but get tired fairly early at night People who have the short gene are usually more active at night but have problems waking up early in the morning How does it help us to know if we have the long or short gene? Scientists say that, if possible, we should try to change our working hours to fit our “body clock.” If you are a morning person, then you could start work early and finish early But if you are bad in the morning, then it might be better to start work in the afternoon and work until late at night So maybe, instead of nine to five, it should be seven to three or twelve to eight
6 Scientists say that if we are bad at getting up in the morning, this is because
A we do not do enough exercise
B we are born like that
C we go to bed late
Trang 7D we drink too much coffee
7 Researches asked people questions about
A science
B sports and exercise
C their diet
D the way they lived
8 They discovered that people who have a short clock gene
A are better in the evening than in the morning
B get tired very early
C are better in the morning than in the evening
D find it easy to get up early
9 They recommend that people who have a long clock gene
A should work only in the afternoon and evening
B should drink two cups of coffee in the morning
C should start work early and finish early
D should start work late and finish late
10 Which of the following is NOT true?
A People who have the long gene are better in the morning
B People who have the short gene are more active at night
C We should try to change our gene to work better all day
D We should try to change our working hours to fit our body clock

But you can survive a crocodile attack Last year Norman Pascoe, 1 19-year-old, was saved from a crocodile when his aunt hit it on the nose Norman’s aunt said, ‘I hit it and I shouted, “Help!” The crocodile suddenly opened its mouth and my nephew escaped.’

It is official- American children are getting fatter According to a survey published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, in 2003 – 2004 more than 17 percent of American children aged 2-19 were overweight And since then, the problem has gotten worse More recent health surveys have found that at least 20 percent of American children are now overweight
Why?
Children watch too much television and they see twelve food advertisements for every hour of TV they watch They get less exercise, play sports less, and spend more time watching videos or playing computer games than they did in the past The problem isn’t that children eat too much food or the wrong kind of food – though of course it’s better
to eat healthy foods than too much fat The real problem is that too many children do not get any physical exercise
What can we do?
So how can we help our children develop a healthy attitude to food and exercise? Well, parents should try to help children eat healthy food when they are still young – we need
to give children good habits at an early age This means, for example, giving children fruit, not candy, and eating meals together as a family if possible Cooking with children
is also a good idea, to teach them the importance of good food A lot of children don’t like vegetables, but even a few vegetables can help improve their diet
And instead of driving our children everywhere, we should encourage them to walk or bike We should make exercise interesting and exciting for them Playing soccer in the park is much better for children than playing on the computer
21 What is the main idea of the article?
A Children’s eating habit
B Children’s diet
C Children’s health
D Children’s exercise

A Overweight children in American have reduced by20 percent
B 17 percent of American children were overweight in 2003-2004
C The problem of American children getting overweight has been better
D More and more American children are overweight
23 What is the actual reason for the increase in overweight children?
A They eat too much food
B They exercise less
C They eat the wrong kind of food
