ĐỀ CƯƠNG NÓI 5 – SPEAKING TEST 5 - EHOU – HN open university.

TOPIC 1PART 1:

1.Do you often remember your dream?  Sometimes I

remember my dreams when I wake up, but other times they just disappear from my memory It's like they vanish into thin air

2.Do you want to make your dreams come true? Why? 

Sometimes, dreams speak of your expectations If dreams are beautiful and meaningful, we all want them to come true because they can bring everything, we desire closer to us more quickly.

3.Do you share your dream with others? Or are you interestedin others’ dreams?  After waking up, if I can remember my

dreams, I will share them with my husband We will discuss them if we both remember our dreams upon waking Frankly, dreams often reflect our expectations So, taking the time to share our dreams can help us understand each other better, which I believe is

beneficial for us.

4.Do you think dreams have special meaning?  Definitely I

believe dreams can reflect our state of mind now When we feel stressed or anxious, dreams can be quite nightmarish, serving as a warning for us to take care of our mental health On the other

hand, it's quite common to dream about our crush as they are the people we think about most during the day.

PART 2: Describe a time when you felt proud of a family member.

Trang 2

Pride is a profound emotion, often reserved for special occasions that mark significant achievements One such moment etched in my

memory is when my younger sister graduated from university with honors It was not just the academic accolade that swelled my heart with pride, but the journey she undertook to get there.

My sister had always been a diligent student, but university life posed new challenges She juggled part-time jobs and internships while maintaining a rigorous study schedule There were times when exhaustion seemed to take over, yet she persevered, driven by a relentless pursuit of her goals.

The day of her graduation was a culmination of her hard work As her name was called and she walked across the stage, I could see the sparkle of accomplishment in her eyes It was a moment that

transcended personal triumph; it was a testament to her resilience and determination.

What made me proudest was not the distinction she graduated with, but the character she displayed throughout her journey She showed me that success is not just about the outcome, but also about the spirit with which one faces the challenges along the way.

That day, my sister taught me a valuable lesson about strength and humility Her achievement was a beacon of inspiration for our entire family, reminding us that with dedication and perseverance, any dream is attainable.

PART 3: Further discussion

1.When would parents feel proud of their children?  Parents

would feel proud of their children after any kind of accomplishment,

Trang 3

big or small If a child learns a new word, takes their first steps, learns to ride a bike, or learns to drive a car,

parents would be proud. Major life events such as weddings and graduations also make parents very proud Overall, parents are proud when their children are living a life that makes them happy and fulfilled.

2.Should parents reward children? Why and how?  Yes, I think

parents should reward children when they accomplish something Parents can reward children for academic accomplishments like receiving a good grade on a report card, or for personal

accomplishments like doing something nice for someone else or donating to a charity If parents want to install good values in their children, offering rewards can be a good way to reinforce good behavior, parents should be wary of giving too many rewards; it is better if children do good things because they want to, not because they expect a reward.

3.Is it good to reward children too often? Why?  No, I think

rewarding children too often would be a major problem Children need to develop intrinsic motivation, but frequent rewards

encourage extrinsic motivation Children should want to be

successful in their life because it brings them a sense of pride and purpose These feelings should be rewarded enough on their own However, sometimes children deserve a reward if they have

accomplished something major Parents just need to be careful about how often they give rewards.

4.On what occasions would adults be proud of themselves? 

Adults might be proud of themselves for a few different reasons

Trang 4

They may take pride in a new accomplishment or promotion at work that they have been working hard towards They also tend to be proud of themselves for personal milestones, like getting

married or getting a new apartment Finally, many adults take pride in their children, and consider their children’s successes as their own.

TOPIC 2PART 1:

1.What kind of housing/accommodation do you live in?  For

the past 21 years, I have been living in a house with my family, and I think if I can move out and start making a living on my own, I would try my best to have an independent place where I can plan and design a house layout that suits myself since sharing a room or a flat with strangers sounds troublesome to me.

2.Who do you live with?  I live with my family There are 5 of us

and we all have our own room, which is way more comfortable as the older we grow, the more privacy we need for ourselves I think

our house is big enough for us yet still a warm and cozy place

that I call home.

3.How long have you lived there?  Although during my

childhood my family had to move a lot, I’ve lived in the most recent house for almost ten years Compared to the old houses, I think this house has been the best so far.

4.What is the difference between where you are living now

Trang 5

and where you have lived in the past?  As I’ve already

mentioned my family moved several times when I was younger And the most current house where we’ve been living for about ten years is the best house so far All of us have separate rooms for

our need of privacy yet a big dining room where we can spend

the whole evening together watching TV or having dinner.

PART 2: Describe a well-known person you like or admire

In the tapestry of my professional life, one figure stands out

distinctly against the backdrop of routine: my boss His journey is as inspiring as it is impressive, beginning with his graduation from Tsinghua University, a testament to his intellect and dedication His academic achievements laid the foundation for a mindset that is both innovative and strategic, qualities that have served him well throughout his career.

Before joining our factory, he was part of the IBM group, where he sharpened his skills in a global context The experience there, no doubt, has been instrumental in shaping his approach to the complex challenges of supply chain management.

Currently, he leads the supply chain of our factory, a bustling hub that produces Nike shoes His role is pivotal, ensuring that every cog in the wheel of production operates seamlessly Under his

leadership, our factory has not only met its targets but has also set new benchmarks for efficiency and productivity.

His proficiency in English, coupled with his amiable nature, makes him approachable and a joy to work with His leadership style is unique; he fosters a tranquil environment, never resorting to noise or chaos to get the job done.

Trang 6

His presence is reassuring, a constant reminder that with the right mindset and leadership, any team can achieve greatness He is not just a boss; he is a mentor, a leader, and a friend His ability to navigate the complexities of our industry with grace and

competence is nothing short of remarkable.

In a career spanning over a decade and a half, I have seen many leaders, but none have struck me quite like my boss His blend of intelligence, friendliness, and calm demeanor in the face of

challenges is a rare find He is a leader who not only inspires

confidence in our team but also instills a sense of pride in our work.

PART 3: Further discussion

1.Would you like to be a famous person? Why / Why not? 

Whenever we see singers, actresses, or actors, we really like them Sometimes, we wish we could be them right away

However, it is very hard to become a famous person If I had the wish, I wouldn’t want to become a famous person Because if I were famous, everything about me would have to be standard, beautiful, and good If I cannot match this standard, I could be seen in everything with bad news and complaints So, I hope to have enough health to live and enjoy my life That is fine for me currently.

2.What are the hardships of celebrity? (Nỗi khổ của người nỗi tiếng là gì?)  While there are a lot of great reasons to be

rich and famous, it’s often a lot harder than you might think From suffering too much pressure from the audiences and society, lack of privacy, being a target for crime, to health

problems, etc Being rich and famous may sound glamorous, but

Trang 7

it’s not always as good as it seems.

3.What should celebrities do to protect their privacy?  To

my mind, there are numerous ways famous people could think of, such as monitoring their fame, being consistent in dealing with the media or learning from other’s experiences, but to be honest, I don’t think they are completely effective since the

invasion of privacy is inevitable for a public figure, especially top stars If you want to earn more, you must sacrifice more, as

people always say.

TOPIC 3PART 1:

1.What is your area of specialization?  I’m majoring in

business management, so I must deal a lot with something like organizational behaviors, marketing strategies, and human resources Sometimes, it’s a little bit overwhelming to me but

I have a knack for it so it’s fine (Chuyên ngành của tôi là quản lý doanh nghiệp, nên tôi phải làm việc với rất nhiều những thứ, kiểu như, hành vi tổ chức, chiến lược

Marketing và Nhân sự Đôi khi, tôi cũng thấp ngợp vì côngviệc, nhưng tôi cũng có khả năng cho loại công việc này, nên mọi chuyện cũng ổn. )

2.Why did you choose to study that major?  I’ve

been passionate about start-up since I was a high school

student, so I applied for this major without hesitation I suppose that my major would fulfill my dream because it provides me with a great deal of useful information related to businesses and

gives me golden opportunities to have practical experience. (Tôi

Trang 8

3.What kind of school did you go to as a child?  I went to public schools, you know, from primary to high school My parents could only afford the tuition fees of public schools; going to a private school was out of the question for us And I never

regret going to these public schools. (Tôi học trường tư, từ cấp 1 lên cấp 3 Bố mẹ tôi chỉ đủ khả năng chi trả cho họcphí trường công; việc học trường tư là điều không thể Và tôi chưa bao giờ hối hận vì đã học trường công. )

4.Do you like your major? (Why/why not)  Undoubtedly, I

have never once regretted my decision to major in Business Administration Having supportive instructors and dedicated classmates who have contributed to my academic growth, I’ve found the subjects to be exceptionally practical While certain courses presented challenges, the knowledge and skills gained have been genuinely rewarding.

PART 2: Describe a time when you gave some helpful adviceto someone

Change is never easy, especially when it involves leaving behind the familiar Yet, sometimes, change is necessary for growth and

Trang 9

well-being This was the advice I found myself giving to my younger brother, who faced a difficult decision regarding his employment.

For five years, he had dedicated himself to his job, a tenure that saw him grow professionally However, the work environment had become toxic His boss, who once provided guidance, had begun to treat him poorly, and the once-thriving business was now

struggling in the post-COVID-19 economy As a result, his boss sought to reduce the rights of the labor force, an action that would directly impact my brother and his colleagues.

I watched as the stress began to take a toll on him, both mentally and physically It became clear that the situation was untenable So, I sat down with him and laid out my thoughts "You have given so much to this job," I said, "but now it's taking more from you than it's giving back Your health, your happiness, and your rights as a worker are paramount It's time to consider new opportunities where you will be valued and treated with respect."

It was not an easy conversation The security of a long-held position is a powerful anchor, and the uncertainty of job hunting can be daunting But I reminded him that his skills, experience, and resilience were assets that would serve him well in the job market "You are not alone in this," I assured him "You have a support system, and we will help you through this transition."

In the end, my brother made the brave decision to resign It was a step into the unknown, but one that opened the door to new

possibilities He found a role in a company that recognized his

Trang 10

talents and provided a healthy work environment The change was challenging, but it led to a happier and more fulfilling chapter in his life.

This experience taught us both that sometimes the hardest choices lead to the best outcomes It reinforced the belief that one should never settle for less than they deserve, especially when it comes to personal well-being and professional satisfaction.

PART 3: Further discussion

1 What kind of advice do parents give to their children? 

There are several types of advice that parents never fail to give their children in all walks of life Parents advise on the importance of education to shape the career of their children and make

them successful They also advise the children to play with their strengths and work on their weaknesses They give sound advice when their children fail and motivate them to do better with a different approach Parents have more experience and have seen the world with tainted glass, and they try to pass on their

knowledge to the children in the form of guidance.

2 How do experts give advice to others? (e.g a doctor gives advice to patients)  Well, I have very little experience in this,

but I think experts need to inform others about their available

options and give them some recommendations Experts will provide support and guidance so they can make a sound decision.

3 What advice do parents give to teenagers about making friends?  Teenagers need maximum advice as they are

vulnerable and can be led astray by bad company.

Trang 11

It is very difficult to advise a teenager, so parents normally warn their wards not to move in company of children who are known to be naughty.

TOPIC 4:PART 1:

1.What do you do?  Currently, I work as a Purchasing Manager at

the Nike shoe factory I have been working here since 2021.

2.What are your responsibilities?  Because my factory is

designated by Nike, the suppliers are also appointed by Nike

Therefore, even though I work as the Purchasing leader, we do not need to choose suppliers but will purchase based on the available supplier list

However, for this reason, my main job is to support the staff in their work, helping them work closely with suppliers so that materials can be delivered on schedule, meeting the production needs on time, avoiding delays that affect output and shipment

In addition, I participate in training courses provided by the

company on some issues raised by Nike or due to the sustainable development policies introduced by the factory, attend meetings with other departments to resolve arising issues, and prepare related reports when requested.

3.Why did you choose to do that type of work (or that job)? 

In Vietnam, there is a saying: 'The profession chooses the person, as rarely does one get to choose their profession.'

My case is just like that When I graduated in 2009, struggling with life, I started working at a shoe company as a worker for two years.
