Nowadays, most students have the intention of joining the job market early in order to acquire experience and earn money Whereas others just want to focus on their studies to perform well with their schoolwork It means they are going to go to work after graduating Whether getting a job while you are still a student or after graduating, at a certain time we all have to enter the workforce Earning our first job requires in-depth research as well as setting expectations

An issue we need to mention when we have already entered the workforce is unemployment It is highly unlikely that a person will only work for a company for the rest of their life without ever experiencing job loss The loss of a job can place you in an unfamiliar position It's frequently a confusing time By knowing how to cope with job loss, you can move forward and find the next opportunity that's perfect for you

In this discussion, we will show you which skills are needed to enter the workforce as well as explain what the loss of a job is and share tips to help you move forward and get back in the job market

I.1 Definition: What is workforce?

Workforce refers to the labor pool or the group of people who are available for work It can be used to describe the employees working for a specific company or industry, as well as the overall labor force of a geographic region such as a city, state, or country The workforce includes both employed individuals and those who are unemployed but actively seeking work

I.2 Skills needed for entering workforce

As you approach the end of school, it is important to know which workplace skills you should have to succeed in the workforce These skills can be applied to work experience, job interviews, volunteering, casual, part-time or full-time work If these skills are used effectively, you will quickly realize how they can positively influence your success within the workplace

Listening skills

Firstly, when entering the workforce, it is important to have active listening skills This means being attentive to the needs of your employer and colleagues This will help

to improve the functionality of the business, allowing for goals and objectives to be reached Listening skills can help you understand what tasks need to be done and how best to complete them

Communication skills

Communication and listening are workplace skills that go hand in hand with one another Listening skills are used to understand business and workplace needs On the other hand, communication skills are used to explain business and workplace needs Whether the communication is verbal, written or through body language, it is extremely important that you use effective communication it will assist you in articulating yourself clearly to others

Self-confidence

It is important that you identify your strengths and weaknesses and hold a positive view of yourself This means having the confidence and skills to set workplace tasks and push the boundaries of your comfort zone Consequently, breaking out of your comfort zone will encourage you to aim high and achieve new goals Remember that asking questions if you need clarification will appear as confident to an employee

Honesty

Ability to handle stress

Stress is unavoidable in the majority of workplaces, so it is important that you have the ability to handle it It is crucial to recognise that not all workplace stress comes from your workload Stress can also be emotional, triggered by workplace negativity or a dispute Stress may also be physical, caused by a lack of sleep Furthermore, if you can control stress, you have nailed one of the most challenging workplace skills

I.3 Steps to enter the workforce

With a foreign language and specialized knowledge in commercial economics, job opportunities for business English students after graduation are very rich and multi-disciplinary Some typical jobs can be mentioned as follows:

1 English interpreter and translator

Interpreter's work mainly takes place verbally, they think quickly and deeply at work Interpreting is a job that is constantly growing and has great potential in the future because the integration trend is increasingly popular and Vietnam has a developed open economy This has created opportunities for countries to import and exchange cultures, and techniques, expand business, etc Therefore, mastering English - the world's common language - is a skill extremely necessary skills now and in the future

Besides, the translator is a job that is completely different from the interpreter A translator is a person who performs work related to converting content from one language

to another without changing its meaning Translators can also participate in other translation projects such as translating websites, software, games, movies, books and many other fields

To become a successful interpreter and translator, students need to be equipped with the same following skills:

Have a thorough background and understanding of both source and target languages

Be able to withstand high work pressure: The interpreter who works best is the one who can connect with people around him They work positively with others and adapt to their surroundings easily Every conversation is different, so it's important to stay calm in different contexts and anticipate what will happen next The translator is the same They always have many deadlines and big workloads

by subjective and objective factors On the other hand, as a translator, you need to cultivate professional knowledge and searching capabilities Translators are increasingly perfecting themselves towards specialization Therefore, specialized knowledge in specialized fields is an indispensable factor Because for each major and field, the meaning of the words will be different For the Business English major, students have been trained in knowledge related to the field of economics This can also be considered

an advantage if students become translators in this field in the future

2 Logistic Services

Logistics is the process of planning, providing, and managing the transfer and storage process for goods, services, and information from the place of production to the place of consumption to meet customer requirements row Most production and consumption places are in foreign countries, so this job has quite high requirements for foreign languages - especially English Especially in the logistics industry, you can do many jobs such as Logistics sales staff, purchasing specialists, customs officials, and international payment specialists

If you want to be successful in Logistic in addition to the skills to handle situations and withstand pressure, need to have other skills as follows:
