Soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, and time management are essential in everyone's daily life In this assignment, I will demonstrate how I and my friends used communication to plan a successful event and used reasonable time management Furthermore,
I will present to you how I use the technique of critical thinking to fix and solve the problem.
DEMONSTRATE, USING DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION STYLES AND FORMAT, THAT YOU CAN EFFECTIVELY
Definition and the importance of communication skill
Communication is the process of transferring meaning from one entity to another by the use of recognized signs, symbols, and regulations In a word, communications skills are a collection of behaviors that you engage in when sending and receiving various types of information Examples of communication include sharing your opinion on an issue, updating new contributions to your project, expressing sentiments, and so forth (Khullar, 2022)
Figure 1: What is communication skill? (Khullar, 2022) Speaking, listening, watching, and empathizing are all examples of communication abilities It is also beneficial to grasp how to communicate via phone calls, face-to-

2 The important of communication skills
Properly communicating plays an important role for employers and employees Making a clear point, for example, might mean the difference between a good agreement and a bad one
A certain communication ability can help you communicate a concept clearly It is also critical that corporate policy be thoroughly presented to consumers and workers, and that everyone within the organization is on the same page To that aim, everyone must have a specific degree of these talents
Various sorts of communications, talents, and environmental factors can all be advantageous to a firm A positive communication atmosphere boosts morale and efficiency in general Many strategies are used inside organizations to foster this atmosphere, including the Communication Strategy Framework (CSF), communication planning, conversation mapping, and the 7Cs or communication model (Toolshero,
3 How to improve my communication skills
Here are some ways to improve communication skills:
➢ Improve active listening: Being a good listener is essential for developing great communication abilities It is critical to practice active listening - paying great attention to what others are saying and clarifying ambiguities by rephrasing their inquiries for better comprehension (Khullar, 2022)
➢ Practice use body language: While communicating with people, it is critical to use good body language, make eye contact, utilize hand gestures, and monitor your voice tone A relaxed body stance combined with a kind tone can make you appear receptive to others
➢ Show respect: Folks will be more open to interacting with you if you show respect for them and their ideas Using an individual's name, establishing eye contact, and genuinely listening while an individual speaks can make him/her feel valued While you're talking on the phone, avoid distractions and stay focused on the conversation
➢ Ask for feedback: An important communication skill is the ability to deliver and accept appropriate feedback Supervisors and managers should be on the lookout for opportunities to provide positive feedback to staff, whether by email or phone conversations Similarly, you should get feedback from others If you are unsure about a topic, ask screening questions
➢ Control volume and clarity: It is critical to be audible and clear when communicating Changing your tone so that you can be heard in a range of
Page 10 of 57 environments is a skill that is required for efficient communication Speaking too loudly can be rude or embarrassing at times If you're still not convinced, observe how others communicate.
Verbal communication
Oral communication using words that you or others utter out loud is referred to as verbal communication (Kaplan, 2023)
Figure 2: Verbal communication (Kaplan, 2023) Examples of verbal communication include:
➢ Describing your results-gathering procedures to a coworker
➢ Presenting your final project findings to key stakeholders
➢ Presenting a new customer to your brand
➢ Give your partner real-time feedback on their presentation
➢ Asking follow-up questions to explain what your management has asked of you
➢ Complimenting a coworker on their job and highlighting what they did well
Non-verbal communication
The transmission or receiving of nonverbal communications is known as nonverbal communication Nonverbal communication refers to communication that is neither verbal or written, such as gesture, body language, posture, tone of voice, or facial expressions (Geektonight, 2023)
Figure 3: Non-verbal communication (Geektonight, 2023)
Nonverbal communication aids the receiver in deciphering the message Nonverbal cues frequently represent the situation more precisely than verbal messages Nonverbal responses can sometimes contradict verbal communication, reducing the impact of the message
Nonverbal communication consists of four components:
• Speaker's appearance includes attire, hairdo, neatness, and cosmetic use
• Room size, lighting, décor, and furniture are all factors to consider
• Body language consists of facial expressions, gestures, and postures
• Voice tone, volume, and speech pace are all sounds
Body language, or nonverbal communication, is an important type of communication - a natural, unconscious language that broadcasts our genuine sentiments and intentions in any given instant, as well as clues us in to the feelings and intentions of others around us (Geektonight, 2023)

4 The advantages and disadvantages of applying 2 methods verbal and non-verbal comunication in my group
My team devised an innovative event to bring all employees together in the company
In reality, we had a large assignment from other students on the course, therefore we needed to complete this promptly and efficiently Because we connect online using Google Meet and had an cafe meeting, we frequently employ my speech abilities in talks with my colleagues During the discussion, we encountered the following advantages and disadvantages:
• It helps to shorten chat time with individuals compared to messeger messaging We use a calm, clear voice to express our thoughts while listening to others take notes and offer questions Minh Ngoc (team leader) frequently communicates clearly with team members to assist us in come up with the most persuasive answer
• This is a dependable means of communication
• It's adaptable, productive, and time-saving
• Emotions were visible in the discussion, and there were times when we disagreed on how to plan the event
• Some members do not handle the assignment or express their views because they lack confidence in their ability to communicate b Non-verbal communication
• It contributes to the effectiveness of the dialogue My team members have expressed their thoughts more body language We used eye contact with other members, hand gestures to explain, and serious listening to explain the problem
• There were times when we disagreed on how to organize the event Our team leader often uses non-verbal eye contact to express her displeasure This can cause a certain distance between the members and the leader.
DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU HAVE USED EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN PLANNING AN EVENT (P2) 13 I Definition and the importance of time management skill
Definition time management skill
The definition of Time Management skills is concerned with the process and planning that you put into your daily activities in order to control the amount of time you spend on each activity, as well as to help you prioritize and plan your personal and professional workload, all with the goal of improving your effectiveness and efficiencies (Anon, 2023)
Figure 4: Time management skill (Annon, 2023)
We all have a billion things to accomplish in a day, but we only have 24 hours to fulfill them This is when time management comes into play Time management is the act of organizing and planning how you will divide your time between different responsibilities It is critical to enhance your time management skills if you want to handle several activities without losing a single second (Calltutors, 2023)
The important of time management skill
Figure 5: Importance of time management (Calltutors, 2023)
Here are some reasons to prove why time management is important to everyone:
➢ Reducing Anxiety and Stress: Many people are stressed out as a result of their hectic schedules They have no time for themselves They just work and are unable to devote special time to leisure activities They also have trouble sleeping due of their hectic activities They may lose confidence if they do not make time for themselves That is why time management is essential (Calltutors, 2023)
➢ Improved Work-Life Balance: I should mention that it is one of the most significant advantages of time management Because achieving a better work-life balance allows you to be more effective at work You will also have more time to devote to other activities that are important to you You may strike a healthy balance between your personal and professional lives When you spend all of your time at work, you will undoubtedly be exhausted That is why a healthier work-life balance is critical
➢ Increase Productivity: When you allocate time throughout the day for different chores, you can do them more quickly and efficiently This will undoubtedly increase your performance and cause you to become more productive You will also save time by avoiding time-wasting diversions
➢ Improved Job Opportunities: As I previously stated, if you arrange time for each task at your business, you will be able to accomplish your work before the deadline Consequently, when you deliver your job to seniors and managers on time, they will know you are a trustworthy employee, and they will come to you anytime they need help since they know you will do it on time This will provide you with a better professional prospect, and you may even get promoted in the future
➢ Improve work: There is less possibility of a hotchpotch when you have all of your tasks scheduled When you keep track of your job as well as the time, you can work more efficiently Time management enables you to prioritize your responsibilities and ensure that you have enough time to complete each job When you're not rushing to meet a deadline, the quality of your work improves
➢ Job completion on time: Planning your job allows you to complete all of your tasks on time You know when to accomplish each work so that the entire assignment may be done on time In time management, you plan separate time periods for different activities so that you may accomplish them all before their respective deadlines Many individuals use time management to allow themselves many days to complete a task, or to do it ahead of the deadline to account for any problems that may arise
➢ Improve Your Efficiency: When you know how to manage your time well, you will be able to focus on your task Time management will allow you to concentrate on your job rather than stressing about deadlines since you have planned ahead of time Instead of attempting to work on a significant project with only fifteen minutes before a meeting, perform a few little chores and save the larger activities that require more brain capacity for when you have a large block of free time You'll be able to work more efficiently, accomplishing more in less time
➢ Increase Your Self-Belief: When you manage your time well and meet your deadlines, you will feel a sense of success and confidence in your abilities Doing tasks on schedule allows you to gain recognition from your superiors Such acknowledgement enhances our confidence and motivates us to achieve more and more Finishing your daily to-do list on a consistent basis is a big motivator that may inspire people to improve their time management skills and pursue new employment opportunities (Calltutors, 2023)

Every event management endeavor requires some kind of contingency planning Even the best-laid plans cannot guarantee that everything will go as planned When a serious issue arises, event planners must be ready to respond swiftly and efficiently Prepare for crises and incidents by planning a trip contingency
A problem is predictable, if not completely predicted:
Cause: There is always the possibility that the delay of members will affect the timing of the event This can lead to the plan being broken due to the time that is not allowed compared to the original plan
Contigencies: Designate a member of the event management team as the "Troubleshooter," whose role it is to scan the venue for problems, restore order, and urge participants to have the most enjoyable and engaging journey possible
The Holiday will last from June 7 to June 11, 2023 That is, the working week in Nha Trang goes from Wednesday to Sunday, and plans have also been established and include the best backup plan for the time and location of the vacation so that the members can enjoy the vacation in the most convenient and complete way.
Evaluate the effectiveness and application of interpersonal skills during the design and delivery of a
during the design and delivery of a training event (D1)
Interpersonal skills are the talents that enable a person to interact effectively with others Communication skills include the capacity to communicate and listen, as well as attitudes and demeanor Many responsibilities in any firm necessitate great communication abilities Effective communication skills are required for a successful event in order to reduce incidents when organizing
1 The importance of communication skills in the exchange process between team members
Disagreements and conflicts will occur regardless of how long people have known each other People have many different needs, desires, ambitions, and beliefs that can conflict with one another We may have a conflict if communication is poor So having good communication skills will help me and my team members negotiate and interact in order to identify and solve problems and reach a consensus among people
For example, during group work, each member has a different opinion, which often causes discontent in my group If my team leader does not have good communication skills to analyze, solve and intervene, it is very easy to have a fight between team members
2 Use communication skills during event organization
In an organizational setting, interpersonal skills are critical for interacting and talking with people I and my friends used a variety of communication skills to successfully fulfill the following plan:
➢ About verbal communication: During the discussion and event organization, me and the members confidently expressed and used words to prove and find the best way to create the best event for company
For example, in each group discussion, each of our members will have 10 minutes to present their ideas and views Everyone in the group confidently uses words to communicate and give opinions Then the group leader is the one who evaluates and gives the most convincing answer
➢ About body language: During an event, my facial expressions, gestures, voice, and posture usually convey my attitude We used gestures, speech, and regular eye contact to substantiate and offer our most convincing answer during our presentation
For example, in a recent discussion of my group, some members often lost focus, did not pay attention to the leader's instructions and assigned tasks on time At that time, Ngoc (Leader) used her arms and facial expressions, especially eye gestures to communicate as well as help team members focus more on the presentation
In this event, I employed a variety of communication abilities All of these qualities are really beneficial in assisting me in developing better relationships with other team members through engagement When I had an issue and needed to make a decision, those communication qualities came in handy
➢ I learned to listen more actively Proof of this is that in group meetings, I actively listen to the ideas of my team members, paraphrase them, and ask follow-up questions to clarify and better understand their perspective, this will help us collaborate more effectively and make better decisions
➢ I also learned how to collaborate and collaborate with team members to work more efficiently Specifically in the process of teamwork, you and I have collaborated together by sharing our ideas, and positively or negatively evaluating each other's work to complete the task of the organizing this event
➢ In addition, I learned how to provide constructive feedback Specifically, during team meetings, I've learned how to provide constructive feedback to another team member on their presentation skills, highlight specific areas for
Page 31 of 57 improvement, and offer suggestions feasible output that helps that member improve
I can say that all of these communication skills are extremely useful It is very necessary to improve my teamwork ability and also helps me to improve myself more on the path of career development
Following these strategies, team members and I were able to successfully employ a number of communication skills throughout the discussion and event preparation process We learned about the event through a variety of media, the most effective communication methods being social networks such as messeger and gmail Gannt charts are developed and utilized to determine what needs to be done today and tomorrow in order to complete the event as efficiently as possible Individuals already have some communicative qualities that will be very useful in our future careers.
DEMONSTRATE THE USE OF DIFFERENT PROBLEM-SOLVING TECHNIQUES IN THE DESIGN AND DELIVERY OF
Definition and the importance of problem solving
The process of discovering an issue, developing viable solutions, and deciding on the best course of action is known as problem solving (Pressbooks, 2023)
Figure 9: Problem solving (Pressbooks, 2023) The capacity to solve difficulties is a fundamental life skill that is required in our daily lives at home, school, and job Every day, we solve issues without giving much thought
Page 32 of 57 to how we do it For instance, suppose it's pouring and you need to go to the shop What are you going to do? There are several viable options Grab your umbrella and go for a walk You can drive or take the bus if you don't want to get wet You may contact a buddy for a ride, or you could go to the store another time There is no right or wrong method to address this problem, and various people will approach it in different ways (Pressbooks, 2023)
When evaluating job prospects, you should search for six essential problem-solving skills:
➢ Listening abilities: Active listeners are effective problem solvers in general They may obtain information from others around them through listening They realize the importance of acknowledging other people's opinions and experiences in order to better understand why the problem arose and the best way to address it
➢ Analytical thinking abilities: Analytical thinkers may discover the logical reasons why a problem occurred, the long-term ramifications of the problem, and the success of several cures in order to select the best practical one
➢ Creative thinking abilities: Analytical skills can be balanced with imaginative solutions by creative minds Those with creative thinking abilities might discover unique and advanced solutions to challenges They can provide fresh ideas and creative, experimental solutions to a wide range of challenges
➢ Communication abilities: Problem solvers should also be excellent communicators Employers operating in fast-paced situations benefit greatly from the ability to successfully transmit complicated information comprehensively but simply
➢ Decision-making abilities: Individuals who can solve problems will also be able to make decisions and be confident in them This is significant since most problem- solving procedures need making solid judgments in order to achieve a good solution
➢ Teamwork abilities: Although problem solvers must be autonomous thinkers, they must also work well in groups Finding the optimal solution frequently necessitates teamwork, thus applicants must demonstrate their ability to drive people to come up with the best ideas and collaborate with them to help create and implement solutions (TestGorilla, 2023)
2 The importance of problem solving
Problem-solving abilities enable you to locate people who are intellectually prepared to tackle anything their jobs throw at them (TestGorilla, 2023)
Figure 10: Importance of problem solving (TestGorilla, 2023)
There are numerous significant advantages to having problem-solving abilities in the job We'll go through five of the most important characteristics that all problem solvers may bring to their positions and workplaces below:
➢ Ability to intelligently arrange their time: One of the benefits of problem-solving abilities in the workplace that is sometimes overlooked is time management Those with problem-solving ability, on the other hand, usually have excellent time management skills Better decision-making and business effect will result from their ability to manage their time properly and laser-focus on what is critical to the organization (TestGorilla, 2023)
➢ The ability to prioritize, plan, and carry out strategies: Problem solvers have no problem thoroughly analyzing customer and client demands and determining how to prioritize, plan, and implement strategies to satisfy them Since they can think how to effectively fulfill various distinct requests, they can manage all moving pieces
➢ The ability to think outside of the box: Problem solvers frequently spot possibilities in issues Thinking beyond the box is a crucial problem-solving talent in the workplace since it frequently results in better solutions than were predicted initially
➢ Capability to work under duress: This is frequently cited as one of the most important advantages of problem-solving abilities in the job Problem solvers frequently have personalities that adapt well under pressure, such as increased deadlines and changing project specifications Based on your working culture, you may choose someone who can provide speedy answers or someone who takes their time to identify the next steps – both are good problem-solving characteristics
➢ Capability to deal with risk: Planning is a key problem-solving ability Problem solvers are not only ready to cope with the situation at hand, but they are also capable of anticipating future difficulties based on trends, patterns, experience, and current events (TestGorilla, 2023).
Some techniques and tools for the problem solving
Indeed, problem solving is one of the most crucial soft skills for many companies, which means that honing your capacity to tackle complicated problems swiftly and intelligently can make it much simpler to advance in your career The catch is this: There is no unique problem-solving technique that can be used to solve every difficulty you may face at work Various problems necessitate different solutions (Holliday, 2023)
The following are some problem-solving techniques: a Problem solving with a rubber duck
Figure 11: Problem solving with a rubber ruck (Holiday, 2023)
Rubber duck debugging is a technique used in software engineering to debug code by describing it to an inanimate object, such as a rubber duck, line by line The strategy entails taking the time to discuss the problem aloud or in writing in order to help understand the problem from a different perspective and finally solve it This technique is beneficial in workplace management since it exhibits the capacity to work through challenges and discover answers on one's own To apply this strategy, one should define the problem in detail, explain what they have learned thus far, list the remaining problems, and explain why some solutions will not work The idea is to make a commitment to asking precise inquiries to an imaginary person or inanimate object (Holliday, 2023) b Problem solving with a lateral thinking
Figure 12: Problem solving with a lateral thinking (Holliday, 2023)
Lateral thinking ignores the typical step-by-step problem-solving strategy in favor of indirect and inventive approaches to identify solutions that aren't immediately obvious In essence, it encourages you to think creatively, write down any ideas you have, no matter how stupid they may appear, and solve issues using different parts of your brain It's a fresh perspective on "thinking beyond the box." (Holliday, 2023) c Error and trial
Figure 13: Trial and error (Holliday, 2023)
Trial and error is an action-oriented yet time-consuming problem-solving strategy that entails exploring multiple choices until a solution is discovered It can be beneficial for determining the most efficient solution to an issue, such as attempting multiple routes
Page 36 of 57 to work Unfortunately, it may not be possible in instances when there are too many possibilities While it does not assist one discover why something works, after a solution is found, it might disclose the underlying reason Chemists, video game gamers, sports teams, and scientists all employ this strategy (Holliday, 2023) d The 5 whys
The paragraph outlines "The 5 Whys," a problem-solving strategy that entails continuously asking "why" to get to the fundamental cause of an issue Sakichi Toyoda created the technology for Toyota Industries Company The purpose of repeatedly asking "why" is to uncover the underlying cause of an issue so that a solution can be found The method differs from trial and error in that it is designed to solve an issue once and for all (Holliday, 2023)
The following are some problem-solving tool: a Fishbone diagrams
The paragraph portrays fishbone diagrams as a problem-solving technique that mimics a fish's skeleton, with potential root causes branching off from a spine line connected to the problem Fishbone diagrams allow you to draw out a list of probable causes for an existing problem, investigate each possibility by breaking it down into sub-causes, and observe how contributing elements interact with one another These are sometimes referred to as cause and effect diagrams or Ishikawa diagrams (Armstrong, 2020) b Flowcharts
A flowchart is a simple graphic with a wide range of uses Yet, it may be used to describe and investigate how the steps of a problematic process relate Flowcharts effectively depict what happens at each stage of a process - and how each event
Page 38 of 57 effects subsequent events and choices - by using a few basic symbols connected with arrows representing workflow direction (Armstrong, 2020) c Strategy maps
Strategy maps, which are frequently used as a strategic planning tool, also function well as problem mapping diagrams Thoughts and ideas can be placed on a single page using a hierarchical framework to flesh out a potential resolution If you've identified a few methods that you believe are worth investigating as potential solutions to an issue, a strategy map will assist you in determining the optimal path to your problem-solving goal (Armstrong, 2020) d Mental maps
A mental map allows you to get your ideas about what's creating a workplace problem out of your mind and into a shared digital environment Since mental maps reflect how our brains process and evaluate new information, utilizing them to graphically depict your hypotheses will assist you and your team in working through and testing those thought models (Armstrong, 2020) e Idea maps
Idea maps allow you to use a variety of colors and graphics to put down and arrange your disorganized thought process Idea maps are excellent brainstorming tools because they enable you to present and discuss ideas for the best way to address an issue jointly and with a shared excitement for thinking outside the box (Armstrong, 2020) f Concept maps
Since they allow you to generate interrelated, visual representations of difficult concepts, concept maps are one of the finest methods to mould your thoughts around a potential solution Your group will be able to see how one piece of the solution jigsaw interacts with another by digitally setting out your recommended problem-solving procedure and utilizing lines to build and clarify relationship connections (Armstrong, 2020).
Problems and solutions in the event
Perform the duties of event technical director and planner I used a fishbone diagram to identified the event's problem I'll start with the broad and work my way down to the specific
First, I research the factors that influence the event, such as time, location, budget, and staffs, etc Second, I'll use a fishbone diagram to break the problem down into smaller chunks, with the event's goal being to organize a garage night to bring new and old employees together
Figure 21: Fishbone diagram for our event
Time is also a factor that prevents employees from being able to attend this event So me and my team members discussed with each other to organize this event for 5 days And we need to plan a reasonable time so that we can help the employees to balance their personal and family time as well as check the weather forecast for good weather for this holiday's outdoor activity events
Regardless of the position, my team wants it to be a place where company members can become more social, their relationships with their coworkers will become more intimate, and my company will be able to hire that location Furthermore, the venue must be large enough and professional enough to host the event Participants will feel uneasy, overwhelmed, and unprofessional if the above conditions are not met Obviously, I consider Nha Trang to be the most ideal and suitable location for holding events and providing a memorable summer vacation for the company's members
We have assigned different roles to team members Obviously, we have a lot to do with only five people on the team Otherwise, we will become overwhelmed and miss a significant amount of work So we devised a strategy and assembled a team of people with the necessary skills Trang, for example, will be in charge of communication to market to everyone, while Duc Anh, who is good at math, will be in charge of finance to balance the event budget
Finally, when it comes to budgeting, this is the last thing on our list Obviously, if we do not manage the budget, we will quickly lose money because we will not have enough capital to use Furthermore, we need to require a specific budget in order to persuade management To accomplish this, I will provide a quote to the company's general manager, who is in charge of making the final decision
DEMONSTRATE THAT CRITICAL REASONING HAS BEEN APPLIED TO A GIVEN SOLUTION (P4)
Definition and the importance of critical reasoning
Critical thinking is the process of questioning, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and making a decision about what you read, hear, say, or write The word critical is derived from the Greek word kritikos, which means "capable of judging or discernment." Making dependable decisions based on accurate information is the goal of good critical thinking (Annon, 2023)
Critical thinking is most usually connected with disputes in the academic arena You may be asked to evaluate other people's arguments or to develop your own To improve your critical thinking skills, you must first understand how to:
▪ Clarify your thinking purpose and context
▪ Question your sources of information
▪ Evaluate the arguments of others and
▪ Create or synthesise your own arguments
Critical thinking abilities and qualities, as seen in the image, are interrelated and must function together for your critical thinking to be effective
2 The importance of critical thinking
Critical thinking necessitates a good procedure that includes expertly conceiving, examining many elements, synthesizing, and, most importantly, assessing whatever
Page 44 of 57 knowledge is acquired, as well as intently monitoring all components and experiencing the entire picture (Anon, 2023)
Figure 27: The important for critical thinking (Anon, 2023)
It has the following benefits:
➢ It aids in better decision making: You will be able to make decisions on your own thanks to critical thinking It will assist you in making better decisions Students must make rapid judgments while making professional selections or changing careers, and critical thinking is essential in this process
➢ Improves problem-solving abilities: Problem-solving is a critical ability for adjusting to change and addressing problems Students should use critical thinking to avoid complicating any scenario and to assist in finding a solution For example, two persons in the same scenario have been given a problem and asked to solve it One individual may take 5 minutes yet be unable to produce a relevant answer, but someone with problem-solving aptitude will devote sufficient time to investigate and deliver a relevant solution
➢ Refine your research abilities: Critical thinking can help you improve your research abilities by watching, analyzing, synthesizing, and experimenting with every component in depth for a better outcome
➢ Polishes your creativity: It will help you hone your creative abilities Creativity undoubtedly establishes itself as a necessary ability in today's collaborative industry Because critical thinking will undoubtedly improve your creativity
➢ Curiosity is stimulated: It piques your interest in locating the best answer to the problem or subject at hand Curiosity will allow you to dig deeper and dig deeper for a better result This aspect will enable you to remain a lifelong learner (Anon, 2023).
Apply to a given solution
1 The Ideal method Bransford and Stein published one of the most widely used and respected problem- solving methods in 1984 It is used in both industry and education to help students identify a problem, generate solutions, and move forward quickly and efficiently You can provide your learner with a set of steps to approach a problem with confidence by teaching them each step of the IDEAL model (Sippl, 2023)
Figure 28: The method Ideal a I- Identify the problem There is no way to truly solve a problem unless you first understand its scope
Encourage your student to describe the issue in his or her own words Outline what is known and what is unknown Make sure your learner is praised and supported for identifying and tackling new challenges (Sippl, 2023) b D- Define the problem The IDEAL problem-solving process continues with the definition of a problem-solving outcome or goal Multiple people may agree on the existence of a problem but have very different ideas about how to solve it or what the desired outcomes should be It is possible to accelerate the process of identifying solutions by first deciding on a specific goal
Defining outcomes and goals may be a difficult step for some diverse learners The outcomes do not have to be complicated; rather, they should be simple for everyone involved (Sippl, 2023) c E- Explore alternative approaches When you have a result, encourage your learner to brainstorm possible strategies All possible solutions should be on the table at this stage, so encourage students to make lists, use sticky notes, or record voice memos to record any ideas If your learner is having trouble coming up with creative ideas, help them create a plan of resources for whom they might consult during the exploration stage (Sippl, 2023)
Page 46 of 57 d A- Act on the best strategies Following the generation of a list of potential strategies, the IDEAL problem-solving model suggests reviewing the potential steps and deciding which one to use first It takes practice to assist students in weighing the advantages and disadvantages of various action steps Inquire, "What might happen if you take this step?" or "Does that step make you feel more confident or less confident about moving forward?"
The next step is to take action after evaluating the results Encourage your learner to continue even if the outcome of their actions is uncertain Support action, even if it is not the same strategy or 'best' solution that you might use to solve a problem e L- Look back to evaluate the effects The final step in the IDEAL problem-solving model is to examine and learn from an attempt to solve a problem Many parents and teachers overlook this critical step in assisting diverse learners to pause and reflect when problem-solving goes well or poorly Helping our students and children learn from their mistakes can make future problem-solving more efficient and effective Inquire, "How did that go?" and "What do you think you'll do differently next time?"
To deal with this unexpected problem, we used the ideal method following as:
Act on the best strategies
Look back to evaluate the effects
The number of participant rooms is limited
Not enough rooms due to too many participants
Some people may be required to rent a room in another hotel or resort
Choose a resort large enough for participants
The collective will unite as a result of the large number of participants congregating in the same area, making it easier to move and organize activities
Need to prepare and have a backup plan
The number of people crowd, it is not uncommon for the audience to faint or suffer a stroke or
These people must receive medical assistance promptly
Always prepare medical equipment, ambulances, and medical personnel
Plans execute faster and reduce a risk can happen
Professional event organizers never ignore the importance of being on duty and prepare backup solution
Page 47 of 57 injury due to tripping, etc
Power off A power outage occurred during the gala dinner event gala dinner may be interrupted or canceled if there is no power
Prepare a backup generator so you can recover from power outages
The gala dinner is continuous; the programs are not interrupted
Always be on duty and take backup measures such as carrying a generator or renting a place with less power outages
We meet to agree on an event schedule, approve proposals, and ultimately choose the best options When there are problems or plans, everyone involved in the event's planning and execution must understand the risks associated with that plan and how to address them if they arise.
Research the use of different problem-solving techniques used in the design and delivery of an event (M2) 1 Critical thinking technique
and delivery of an event (M2)
It is not always enough to simply deal with problems; they must also be resolved Every day, the majority of people solve problems Many of the small decisions that must be made on a daily basis happen automatically "I have an assignment that needs to be completed by the end of the week," for example "How am I going to finish them all on time?" After considering various strategies, some were chosen and implemented If it is found to be ineffective, a new strategy is implemented Following a step-by-step procedure for defining problems, generating solutions, and implementing solutions can make the problem-solving process appear less overwhelming, as follows:
Six-Step Problem Solving Technique:
This method is simpler and more dependable for resolving the issue Sixventure critical thinking approaches used a logical strategy and a dependable plan to tackle the challenge They would look into the problem and try to find a solution This method is used to identify the various issues that arise in our line of work
The Six-Step Critical Thinking Strategy has the following advantages
• Because this method is common, it is simple for everyone to understand how to use it
• It encourages people to work together
• When this method is used, work becomes simple
• It assists people in remaining organized while employing various critical thinking approaches to the same issue a Identify issue There are numerous concerns that arise while organizing an event, and we should be aware of them For our situation, the most important aspects of my event that I should have remembered were:
• Budget b Analyze the problem After researching the matter, I discovered that there was a bad weather incident during normal times that delayed our plans as well In addition, peak season can also make up a part of our organizational and travel plans, as amusement park locations have increased prices this will cause cost problems for our company c Explore information and solution Having considered all the issues, I have a lot of ideas on how we plan and view the weather forecast and survey the time and location of the event venue and budget balance d Choose solution
I have created an arrangement to manage my concerns The times and locations are listed above along with the financial calculations for the event Helped us create a perfect plan no matter what happens e Implement the solution
I used each of these ideas during my preparation, which makes event planning so much easier for me f Evaluate the Outcome
I have confirmed that time is being wasted in some cases as a result of the difficulties we encountered When the weather is bad, we have backup plans in place to fix the problem at the resort Furthermore, we have established standards and meticulously prepared for this event
The Drill Down technique is a method for determining the underlying causes of a problem within a department or area Once the root causes are identified, a larger plan to address the issue can be developed.(Toolshero, 2023)
Figure 29: The drill technique (Toolshero, 2023)
We used this drill technique during a preparatory event We must address a number of issues As a result, we must devise a strategy for dealing with the difficult situation as soon as possible in order to find the best solution
As illustrated in the diagram, the Drill Down method aids in breaking down a large problem into smaller components When we're dealing with a large problem, we start by breaking it down into smaller chunks The most difficult challenge is dealing with all of the items that are required for the preparation event Using the drill-down approach, we were able to break down this massive problem into manageable chunks by forming small groups and assigning tasks to them.
Justify the use and application of a range of solution methodologies.(M3)
When it comes to event planning, there are several aspects that might influence its success Event planners must be prepared to manage a broad range of obstacles, from budget limits to unanticipated complications that develop on the day of the event
Event planners can employ a variety of problem-solving approaches to assure the success of an event Some popular problem-solving approaches used in event planning:
1 Brainstorming Brainstorming is a group problem-solving strategy in which people collaborate to produce ideas and solutions to a specific problem Brainstorming sessions may assist
Page 50 of 57 event planners in identifying possible challenges and devising innovative methods to overcome them
2 Root Cause Analysis Root Cause Analysis is determining the fundamental source of a problem rather than simply treating its symptoms Understanding the fundamental reason allows event planners to create more effective solutions and avoid similar problems in the future
Figure 31: Root cause analysis process (Guevara, 2023)
➢ While event planners were stuck on ideas for outdoor activities for the event, we used brainstorming to gather a group of individuals and discuss ideas together This sparked a series of unique ideas that I planned would not have come up on my own
➢ The event planner I encountered was experiencing high employee absenteeism at events, so we analyzed the root cause to find out why Perhaps the timing of the event was problematic for the participants or the event was not well promoted
We have suggested methods to fix the problem by identifying this underlying cause
➢ As previously stated, there was a disagreement during the event's design and delivery phase between us, the venue, and the attendees After analyzing and evaluating each area's strengths and weaknesses, reach a conclusion
Furthermore, minor conflicts arise during the event's execution, necessitating team discussion in order to select the best and most effective solution, and the implementation time is limited
➢ We also use the 5 Whys to address those issues, and instead of fighting, we constantly ask why questions to debate each other's points of view
For example, We used the 5 why rule to ask questions about planning an event in Nha Trang following as:
• Why do we need to schedule an outing in Nha Trang?
We want to have a fun and relaxing activity outside of work
• Why do we want a fun and relaxing activity outside of work?
To reduce stress and improve team morale
• Why is team morale important?
A positive work environment leads to better communication and productivity
• Why is better communication and productivity important?
It helps us achieve our goals and succeed as a team
• Why is team success important?
It leads to individual growth, career advancement, and job satisfaction for all team members
So, the root cause of why we need to schedule an outing is to improve team morale, communication, productivity, connect and ultimately team success By understanding this, we can plan an outing that caters to these needs and achieves the desired outcomes That's also why my team was able to successfully apply the
5 why rule to create a great company outing
➢ We discovered that members who prefer to use the technique must constantly discuss quietly in order to come up with useful ideas, boldly express their perspectives, and collaborate with one another to work together to tackle obstacles.
Critique the process of applying critical reasoning to a given task/activity or event (D2)
During my event, I am technically responsible for event organization and venue selection When a problem arose during the event, I applied critical thinking before accepting solutions It encourages the creation of new ideas as well as the ability to analyze and choose the best ideas for me I used a variety of resources, including the internet and others, to learn about where and how to host the best event I obtained and used all of the supplies on the internet
A colleague documents the third day of the movement while they are working together to develop a technique for the events On the third day, there was insufficient activity In any case, because my main focus is innovation I see that day's activity is just bathing beach
At that time I questioned whether bathing in the sea could not bring people closer together? So I talked to the person in charge of the third day and decided to change the content; I've added a celebratory event that includes outdoor activities like tug of war and canoeing The purpose I add these 2 activities is to help members work in teams, thereby helping to increase the solidarity of a team Flexibility is enjoyable and energizing, but it does not correspond to the content of the day; however, this part will also add quite a bit of cost to my company's budget
I see numerous advantages to applying critical thinking to this process It helps me, in my opinion, to look beyond and discover how to capture other factors that influence decision making During this event, I realized that my research was flawed, and I realized that I would have to go to Google or other books and start reading on topics for the next time
So, the next time, I'll look into the consequences or outcomes of my decision Before making any decisions, I would base my judgment on everyone's views and consider how they would affect the company's bottom line So, if I can internalize and develop all of the positive aspects of critical thinking, I will be able to refine my chances of critical reasoning success to improve myself more on the path of career development.
