so sánh, đối chiếu tương đồng dị biệt loại mơ hồ tiếng Việt tiếng Anh Chương phân tích chỉnh sửa số câu bị diễn dịch sai lệch mơ hồ từ vựng vài văn dịch Anh – Việt báo chí Chương 3: Đề cập đến mơ hồ cú pháp nhìn góc độ ngữ pháp tạo sinh ngữ pháp cách; miêu tả phân loại mơ hồ cú pháp với ba loại chính: gắn kết, phân tích chuyển dịch, đồng thời so sánh, đối chiếu tương đồng dị biệt loại mơ hồ hai ngôn ngữ Việt – Anh Ngoài ra, chương cho thấy tác động qua lại mơ hồ từ vựng mơ hồ cú pháp; phân tích chỉnh sửa số câu bị diễn dịch sai lệch mơ hồ cú pháp vài văn dịch Anh – Việt báo chí Chương 4: giới thiệu lý thuyết, thực nghiệm ngôn ngữ học tâm lý để giải mơ hồ từ vựng mơ hồ cú pháp; đưa kỹ cần thiết để hiểu vận dụng tượng mơ hồ ngôn ngữ tự nhiên Chương đề cập đến phương thức phổ biến nhằm “hóa giải” mơ hồ từ vựng mơ hồ cú pháp tiếng Việt tiếng Anh Ngồi ra, luận án cịn có phụ lục: Phụ lục gồm bảng kê số từ đa nghĩa tiếng Việt tiếng Anh; Phụ lục nhận xét sơ cách giải mơ hồ từ loại mơ hồ cú pháp chương trình dịch tự động EVTRANS 2.0; Phụ lục trình bày phương pháp làm mơ hồ ngôn ngữ học điện toán NHỮNG KẾT QUẢ MỚI CỦA LUẬN ÁN 2.1 Luận án khảo sát tượng mơ hồ từ vựng mơ hồ cú pháp, đồng thời có đề cập đến mơ hồ ngữ dụng tiếng Việt tiếng Anh Ở tượng mơ hồ từ vựng, luận án nghiên cứu hai loại mơ hồ đồng âm mơ hồ đa nghĩa (với tiểu loại); tượng mơ hồ cú pháp, luận án sâu nghiên cứu ba loại mơ hồ gắn kết, mơ hồ phân tích mơ hồ chuyển dịch (với 30 tiểu loại) 2.2 Cùng với việc miêu tả phân loại, luận án tiến hành so sánh, đối chiếu tượng mơ hồ hai ngôn ngữ Việt-Anh Luận án cho thấy bên cạnh nhiều loại mơ hồ mang tính phổ qt cho hai ngơn ngữ Việt-Anh cịn có tượng mơ hồ đặc trưng riêng loại ngôn ngữ 2.3 Luận án đưa kỹ cần thiết để hiểu (ở người thụ ngôn) sử dụng ngôn ngữ mơ hồ (ở người phát ngôn) ngôn ngữ tự nhiên 2.4 Luận án trình bày phương thức phổ biến “hóa giải” mơ hồ từ vựng mơ hồ cú pháp tiếng Việt tiếng Anh KHẢ NĂNG ỨNG DỤNG VÀ NHỮNG VẤN ĐỀ CẦN TIẾP TỤC NGHIÊN CỨU 3.1 Nghiên cứu tượng mơ hồ giúp tạo lập thụ đắc ngơn xác, rõ ràng, văn cần độ xác cao văn khoa học kỹ thuật 3.2 Luận án cho thấy mơ hồ ngôn ngữ yếu tố cần thiết để sáng tạo, cảm nhận tinh tế, “cái hồn” tác phẩm văn học nghệ thuật, phê bình, châm biếm, bối cảnh giao tiếp cần đến “mơ hồ” v.v 3.3 Các kết luận án áp dụng việc học dịch ngoại ngữ Các kỹ “hóa giải” vận dụng tính mơ hồ phương thức làm mơ hồ có vai trị đặc biệt quan trọng lĩnh vực dịch thuật học ngoại ngữ, giúp cho người học/ người dịch “hoá giải” câu mơ hồ, giúp cho người học/ người dịch “cảnh giác” câu nhìn “bình thường” lại ẩn chứa nét nghĩa tiềm tàng, diễn dịch theo nhiều cách khác biệt Nói cách khác giúp cho người học/ người dịch diễn dịch xác, bước cao hơn, vận dụng tượng cách khéo léo hợp lý 3.4 Luận án tài liệu tham khảo thiết thực phục vụ cho việc xây dựng chương trình dịch tự động Anh - Việt, kho ngữ liệu song ngữ Anh –Việt v.v 3.5 Vấn đề cần tiếp tục nghiên cứu: cần khảo cứu sâu hơn, rộng tượng mơ hồ bình diện ngữ dụng Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, ngày 08 tháng năm 2006 Xác nhận GS hướng dẫn Nghiên cứu sinh GS.TS Nguyễn Đức Dân Trần Thuỷ Vịnh A Comparison of Ambiguous Phenomena in Vietnamese and English Language - Major: Comparative Linguistics Code: 5.04.27 PhD Candidate: Trần Thuỷ Vịnh Adviser: Prof Dr Nguyễn Đức Dân University: University of Social Sciences and Humanities Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City ABSTRACT Besides the introduction and conclusion, the dissertation is organized into chapters as follows: Chapter 1: This chapter refers to the research history of ambiguous phenomena in linguistics, philosophy, literature, pedagogy and computational linguistics It also presents concepts and definitions related to ambiguous phenomena, types of ambiguity in natural language, and the influence of language type of Vietnamese and English on ambiguous phenomena Chapter 2: This chapter examines lexical ambiguity in main types of ambiguity regarding homonymy and polysemy in Vietnamese and English, and remarks on the similarities and differences of lexical ambiguous phenomena in Vietnamese and English At the same time, this chapter analyses and corrects a number of sentences which are wrongly interpreted due to lexical ambiguity in some EnglishVietnamese translated texts and newspapers Chapter 3: This chapter examines syntactic ambiguity in the angle of generative grammar and case grammar, exploring syntactic ambiguity in main types: attachment ambiguity, analytical ambiguity and gap–finding ambiguity and remarks on the similarities and differences of syntactic ambiguous phenomena in Vietnamese and English At the same time, this chapter analyses and corrects a number of sentences which are wrongly interpreted due to syntactic ambiguity in some English-Vietnamese translating texts and newspapers Chapter 4: This chapter presents theories and experiments in psycholinguistics to resolve lexical and syntactic ambiguity In addition, this chapter introduces skills of understanding and using of ambiguous sentences in natural language as well as common methods to disambiguate lexical and syntactic ambiguous sentences in Vietnamese and English In addition, the dissertation has appendixes: Appendix 1: The lists of polysemous words in Vietnamese and English; Appendix 2: Some remarks on the translation of lexical and syntactic ambiguous sentences of the English – Vietnamese machine translator (EVTRANS 2.0); Appendix 3: Some approachs of disambiguation in computational linguistics FINDINGS: 2.1 The dissertation explores lexical and syntactic ambiguity as well as mentions pragmatic ambiguity in Vietnamese and English In lexical ambiguity, the dissertation examines main types: ambiguity regarding homonymy and polysemy (including sub-types) In syntactic ambiguity, the dissertation examines main types: attachment ambiguity, analytical ambiguity and gap–finding ambiguity (including 30 sub-types) 2.2 The dissertation compares ambiguous phenomena of Vietnamese and English It reveals that there are many kinds of ambiguity which occur in both Vietnamese and English and on the other hand, there are also ambiguous phenomena which only occur in each language due to its own language characteristics 2.3 The dissertation introduces skills needed to understand (for addressee) and to use (for addresser) ambiguous phenomena in natural language 2.4 The dissertation presents methods to clarify lexical and syntactic ambiguity in Vietnamese and English APPLICATION AND FURTHER STUDIES 3.1 Studying ambiguous sentences helps us in using and understanding texts in exact and clear way, especially scientific texts 3.2 The dissertation reveals that ambiguity is one of the critical factors to correctly creating and perceiving refined things of literary texts, sarcastic comments as well as situations which acquire “ambiguity”, etc 3.3 The dissertation results can be applied in learning and translating a foreign language The skills needed to understand and use ambiguous phenomena and the methods to disambiguate ambiguous sentences have a key role in translating as well as learning a foreign language because they help a translator/learner to clarify ambiguous sentences, to heighten awareness that there are innocent–looking sentences to which many different interpretations are often be attributed In the other words, it helps translators/ learners to interpret exactly;
