Transport, and with the support of the Home Office and organizations connected with law enforcement, the motor vehicle construction industry, and vehicle users Hitherto, no standard has existed for the United Kingdom that defines the performance and use of security glazing and its installation when used to prevent or deter unauthorized entry into or removal of the motor vehicle It is recognized that this standard covers a relatively new area, not previously standardized, and that it may be necessary to amend the requirements resulting from initial experience of its use Other Parts of BS AU 209 are as follows — Part 0: Code of practice for the application of security devices /systems to vehicles 1) ; — Part a: Specification for locking systems for passenger cars and car derived vehicles; — Part 2: Specification for security systems against theft of in-car equipment for entertainment and communication purposes; — Part 3: Specification for security marking of glazing for passenger cars specifies the minimum 3.3 glass-plastics safety glazing material requirements for the performance of security a product consisting of glazing material which glazing and its installation in order to apply 3.1 security glazing 4.2 There shall be no separation between the glazing and the body aperture large enough to permit the free passage of a sphere 40 mm ± mm in diameter 4.3 It shall not be possible to pass a ± mm in diameter freely through safety glazing material or glass- plastics safety sphere 40 mm glazing material so constructed and installed in a any tear or split which develops within the glazing vehicle in such a manner as to deter unauthorized materials entry into the vehicle 4.4 If any piece of installed glazing fails to conform 3.2 to the requirements of 4.2 or 4.3 , two further safety glazing material separate, but identical pieces, shall be tested in a product consisting of organic and/or inorganic materials so constructed or treated to reduce in accordance with Annex B and both shall conform to the requirements of 4.2 and 4.3 comparison with annealed sheet, plate or float glass, the likelihood of inj ury to persons as a result of contact with the safety glazing materials when used in a vehicle, whether they are broken or unbroken and for which special requirements regarding visibility, strength and abrasion resistance are laid down © BSI 04- 2000 Li Security glazing Annex B (normative) Impact tests for the retention of security glazing A.1 General The safety provisions of security glazing are covered B.1 Apparatus in A.2 to A.4 and include established safety B.1 General The apparatus shall be adjustable to requirements for vehicle glazing and enhanced enable a range of doors or complete vehicles to be resistance to penetration of the
