— Part 2: Wheels and rims ; — Part 3: Valves Warning The wheel manufacturer should be consulted to determine whether the rim and wheel is of sufficient strength for the intended service In particular, care has to be taken to ensure that the wheel will withstand the maximum pressure of any tyre that can be fitted in accordance with BS AU 50- 2: 994 or BS AU 50- 3: 994 This pressure could exceed 000 kPa (1 bar) for both diagonal and radial tyres Cross-references The Technical Committee has reviewed the provisions of ISO 391 : 977 to which normative reference is made in the text, and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conj unction with this standard A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages to 6, an inside back cover and a back cover This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover ii Reprodu ced by I H S u n d er l i cen se wi th BSI - U n trol l ed Copy © BSI 07- 999 BS AU 0-4.5.2:1 996 Scope This part of ISO 3739 specifies the main requirements, including size designation and marking, of ° tapered and flat base rims with diameters not exceeding rim diameter code 15 for pneumatic tyres, and for solid tyres for pneumatic tyre rims, primarily intended for industrial vehicles for use on prepared surfaces ISO 3739-1 gives the designation, dimensions and marking, and ISO 3739-2 the load ratings of pneumatic tyres (metric series) ISO 10499 covers the designation, dimensions and marking of rubber solid tyres (metric series) for pneumatic tyre rims Rim dimensions are specified for size and contour only The tyre and the wheel/rim manufacturers have to be consulted for confirmation of the suitability of the tyre/rim combinations, particularly with regard to rim profile and wheel strength Rim profiles Existing rims Profiles of existing rims shall be as given in Annex A The flange widths include edge radius The portion of the flange beyond the minimum width shall be lower than the highest point of the flange Additional rims As far as possible, existing rims (see 5.1 ) should be used for the metric series of tyres; only if absolutely necessary should new profiles be considered If additional rims are designed, the requirements in 2.1 and the recommendation in 2.2 apply 2.1 Requirements The new rim width code shall be chosen from the following range: 2.50;
