General requirement: The materials for production of concrete to ensure the technical requirements defined under Specification section 06100 “ Concrete and concrete structures ” During the storage, transportation, materials must be stored to avoid contamination or mixed grain sizes and types When encountering such cases should immediately remedy to ensure the stability of quality Materal: a Cement The cement shall be Portland cement Type I, complying to all respects with TCVN 4033:1995 or some other cement that approved by Engineer Cement approved by Engineer shall be uses for entire be delivered to the Site in sealed bags or water-tight barrels bearing the manufacturer’s name, cement type and the date of manufacture The bagged cement shall be stored in piles not more than eight bags high Storage areas shall be perfectly dry waterproof sheds or other such temporary buildings approved by the Engineer The storage capacity shall correspond to the amount of concrete required for the largest units to be cast These buildings shall be used exclusively for the storage of cement and shall be erected with the floors raised well above the ground at places on or near the Site of the Concrete Mixing and Curing The Contractor’s proposed water source shall be submitted to the Engineer for his approval together with test results confirming that water from the source complies with this specification Water for concrete mixes, curing concrete and other products containing cement shall be clean water free from oil, salt, acid, sugar, vegetable or any other substance injurious to the concrete unless otherwise authorized in by the Engineer The contractor will frequency test of water at the location and time as required by the Engineer c Aggregate Aggregate cement is not contained harmful alkaline reagents in cement with sufficient quantity to cause the excessive expansion of concrete The Contractor must take the tests to proved that aggregate is free from such harmful substances The certificate includes of the equivalent character of concrete in the same condition that is submitted Tests must be conducted in the lab that is met the Specifications The aggregate includes of the particles tough, hard, durable and no other contamination The Contractor is responsible for setting up this aggregate to meet the specification The Contractor shall advise the Engineer of the sources of aggregates to be used to permit samples to be taken in the presence of a representative of the Engineer and the Contractor to test before being brought to the Site 4/ 19 characteristics, having hard, strong, durable particles Fine aggregate shall be clean and free from extraneous materials, clay balls, organic matter or other detrimental material in accordance with AASHTO M6 The maximum combined quantity of soluble chlorides and sulphates in the fine aggregate shall not exceed 1000 ppm fine aggregate + Fine aggregate shall be reasonably graded and shall meet the grading requirements mentioned in Table + The fine aggregate shall be of such uniformity that the fineness modulus as defined in TCVN 7572-2:2006 shall not vary more than 0.20 either way from the the Contractor shall provide sufficiently large capacity in his concrete producing plant and concrete transporting arrangements and use an appropriate retarder when deemed necessary by the Engineer The retarder shall be of a type approved by the Engineer and shall comply with the requirements of TCXDVN 325:2004 6/ 19 PHUONG THANH TRANCONSIN VRAMP – CONTRACT PACKAGE:RAI/CP-1 – TRANG THUA AND CONG thickness of the permanent steel casing shall be as shown on the drawings The steel casing shall be furnished in appropriate lengths The casing shall be handled and stored in a manner that shall prevent buckling and other deformation as well as accumulation of dirt, oil and paint When placed in the work it shall be free from dirt, oil, grease, paint, mill scale and loose or thick rust III REBAR WORKS All reinforcement steel shall comply with the requirements of Specification Section 06400“Reinforcing steel” Reference standards: 7/ 19 - TCVN 1651 : 2008 - Reinforced concrete - TCVN 570 tanks and bentonite pumps Vibrating hammer with hydraulic power 170KW is enough capacity for lowing the casing into the hard ground Cleaning equipment: betonite pumps, compressors 10m3/minutes Other vibrating casing extractors shall be subject to the approval of the Project Manager c) Water Level  In the event of the groundwater level being higher than the required pile head casting level shown on the Drawings, the Contractor shall submit his proposals for approval prior to placing concrete The pile head shall not be left below the groundwater level unless approved precautions are taken VIII Final Pile Toe Level a) Prior to the commencement of pile boring at each pile cap or structure, proposed founding levels shall be established form site investigation boreholes (prebores) located at or near pile positions Boreholes shall be in accordance with requirements and procedures of Specification section “Soil Investigation Borings” and/or as required by the Project Manager The Project Manager will require prebore results a minimum of one month in advance of the piling works to confirm the design of the piles b) The Project Manager shall determine the final pile toe level after his inspection of the earth layers penetrated by the pile 15/ 19 PHUONG THANH TRANCONSIN VRAMP – CONTRACT PACKAGE:RAI/CP-1 – TRANG THUA AND CONG NEO BRIDGE ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY N0.38B c) During the boring Piles will be tested to evaluate the bearing capacity based on test results of Core Testing, Sonic Coring and Impulse Testing PDA and SPT test a Ultrasonic test - Check the integrity, consistency of concrete piles by means of ultrasonic test with all piles - Test shall not be carried out until the pile concrete has gained its 28 days characteristic strength - Sonic Coring and Impulse Testing shall be carried out by approved specialist firms, from whom a full method statement shall be obtained and approved by the Project Manager prior to commencement of testing - The interpretation of the results shall be carried out by competent persons and an indication of the result of all testing shall be passed to the Project Manager immediately on completion of all tests A full written report shall be provided directly to the Project Manager within 10 days of the test being carried out - If the ultrasonic testing indicated defects in the concrete, the contractor can perform the drill sampling and laboratory test to demonstrate that the quality and strengthen of concrete is met the requirements - The Engineer shall give his instructions for taking the sample and testing b PDA Tests - Check the vertical load capacity of single pile by the methods of Impulse Testing: the number of piles in need of test must be met the specification and Engineer’s instruction - The order of testing of the 100-mm tube to at least 600 mm below the bottom of the pile The cores obtained shall be placed in core boxes and the drill hole identification shall be clearly marked on the cores and boxes - Upon the satisfactory completion of tests, all voids formed by core drills shall be pressure grouted with non-shrink grout in accordance with the Specifications d Other tests - In addition to the above tests, the Contractor that will the SPT tests and other tests as specified in the Specifications e Tubing for Sonic Coring - For the purpose of testing pile integrity by Sonic Coring, and core drilling, all Cast-in-Place Concrete piles shall be placed with 100 mm and 50 mm, schedule 80, CPVC plastic pipe tubing in accordance with ASTM D-2846 - The length of the 100 mm tube shall extend from 500 mm above the bottom of the pile to at least 30 mm above the top of the pile temporary casing - The length of the 50 mm tube shall extend from the bottom of the pile reinforcement to at least 30 mm above the top of the pile temporary casing - The bottom of the tubing shall be permanently sealed - The top of the tubing shall be provided with a screw type plug, to prevent the intrusion of foreign materials into the tubing - Tubing shall be placed continuously straight from the bottom to the top so as to allow later introduction of Sonic Coring and core drilling apparatus - During placement the tubing shall be kept free of all foreign materials - The Contractor shall be responsible for any corrective work necessary if testing and/or coring can not be accomplished because of improper placement and/or the presence of obstructions in the tubing - When required by the Project Manager, the Contractor shall fill all tubes with an expansive grout, acceptable to the Project Manager, which is capable of displacing any water in the tubing The grout shall be continuously injected into the tubing from the bottom of the tube to the top f Tube Placement for Sonic Testing Tubing in each required by the Project Manager) around the outer perimeter of the pile - Pile diameter greater than 1300 mm - One (1) 100-mm tube and five (5) 50-mm tubes shall be installed - Tubing shall be placed equal distance (or as otherwise may be required by the Project Manager) around the outer perimeter of the pile g Pilling Records - The Contractor shall deep records of the installation of each pile and shall submit two signed copies of these records to the Project Manager as required The signed records shall form a record of the work in accordance with the following: - Records of pile Borings:
