TEACHING PLAN- ENGLISH Group: THCS Mỹ Hòa, THCS Mỹ Nhơn, THCS Ba Mỹ UNIT 2: HEALTHY LIVING Lesson: Skills Timing: period (45 minutes) I Objectives: Knowledge: By the end of this unit, students will be able to: – use the words about healthy activities and health problems; – recognize and write simple sentences; – ask for and give health tips; – read for general and specific information about acne; Competence:  Students can - develop their ability in reading the text about the problem of acne, ask for and give tips for health problems - develop their ability in cooperating and communicating Attitude: Students can be aware of taking care of their health, especially keep their skin clean II Teaching aids (&materials): Teacher: Lesson plan, ppt file, pictures/flash cards about the problem of acne Students: Textbooks, notebooks, posters… III Procedure: Activity 1: Warming up: Matching (4 minutes) Goal - Introduce words related to skin condition to students and help students have a general idea of what they are going to read Input Outcome Key: chapped skin acne sunburn Procedure - Ask students to look at the pictures and ask them to read the words / phrases and the matching - Ask students to share their answers, confirm the correct answers - Lead in the new lesson Activity 2: Read and match – (page 23) (10 minutes) Goal - Lead in the text - Help students develop their reading skill for specific information and help them focus on the problem of acne Input Outcome Key: b d a c Procedure - Have students read the text in detail to the exercise (Elicit answers from Ss If needed, tell them to follow these steps: + Read the beginnings in A They all start with “acne” plus the verbs (is, affects, causes) - Read that part and the matching - Elicit the answers from the students - Copy all the answers Activity 3: Read and choose the correct answer (Page 23) (10 minutes) Goal - Help students further develop their reading skill for specific information Input Outcome Suggested answers: A C B B 5.A Procedure - Ask students to read each question, locate where the information appears in the text and circle the correct answer - Have students compare their answers in pairs - Check and confirm the correct answers Activity 4: Read the passage, pick the tips which you can easily follow – P 24 (10 minutes) Goal Help Ss talk about how they apply the tips in the reading to themselves Input Outcome Students’ answer Procedure - Ask students to work in pairs, tell them to focus on the text, give time to talk about which tip they can easily follow - Call some pairs to share their answer with the whole class Activity 5: Discuss and make notes of some tips: (p 24) (10 minutes) Goal Provide students an opportunity to practice giving tips for health problems Input Outcome Suggested tips: 1.Use some lip balm Use coconut oil 2.Eat less fast food, beef and ice- dream 3.Get enough sleep, 7-8 hours a day Don’t go to bed late 4.Keep warm and stay in bed Drink plenty of water and eat light food Avoid washing your hair every day, take vitamin Procedure - Ask students to take turns to give tips for each health problems - Call some groups to share their answers with their class - Check and confirm the correct answers * Homework: (1 minute) - Learn by heart the new words - Write down the tips about health problem - Prepare for the next lesson: Unit 2-Skills ... and make notes of some tips: (p 24) (10 minutes) Goal Provide students an opportunity to practice giving tips for health problems Input Outcome Suggested tips: 1.
