In order to receive credit for your internship, you must complete the online Internship Application Form which can be accessed in your KnightJobs account Below is a simple, step-by-step guide to using the system First, consult with your faculty internship director or department chair about your interest in doing an internship Prior to meeting and interviewing with any field supervisors, be sure to understand the expectations of your academic department Individual departments may have their own guidelines and standards for approving a student for an internship Log into your existing KnightJobs account and click on the link “Complete Internship Agreement” on the left If you have applied for internships through KnightJobs, these internships can be selected under “My Jobs” to pre-populate the online form If you have secured your own internship, the option to input information is offered under “Other.” After consultation with your internship or field supervisor, complete the online internship form You may find it easier to complete the online form with your internship supervisor present Required fields include: a minimum of three learning objectives, work schedule, internship job description, GPA, internship or field supervisor contact and e-mail address, and departmental information Upon your completion of the form, the staff of the Department of Career Development will initiate the electronic signature process which sends the form to the internship / field supervisor, faculty internship director, department chair, and the Registrar For students registering for INTD 395 the electronic signature process sends the form to the field / immediate supervisor, Dean Iyer and then the Registrar Each participant in the internship process (field supervisor, faculty internship director, etc.) is given the opportunity to review and then accept or reject the internship form Accepted forms are automatically sent to the next participant in the process Rejected forms are reviewed by Career Development and routed back to be corrected Once everyone in the process has electronically signed the form, the Registrar will add the course to your MyCourses account Things to Keep in Mind Students must have a minimum 2.75 GPA to register for internship credit unless they receive a GPA waiver from their department chair or Dean Iyer (for INTD 395) It is recommended you first discuss your GPA with the chair or Dean Iyer prior to submitting the form The chair or Dean Iyer can use the online form to grant you a GPA waiver Check with your departmental internship coordinator regarding registration deadlines for the fall and spring semesters Some departments, set their own early deadlines During the summer, with advisement, you may register for any of the existing Summer Sessions Dropping or withdrawing from internship credits is the same as any other course If you decide to drop or withdraw, you must notify your internship supervisor, faculty director, and Rob DiCarlo (dicarlo@geneseo.edu) in the Department of Career Development (Erwin 116) Tuition costs for any departmental 395 course or INTD 395 are the same as a traditional course Students interning in the Fall or Spring typically register for internship credits as an overload with no additional tuition charges During the Summer and Winter Sessions, any registered credits including internship credits, carry tuition costs and applicable fees Tuition is required for all Summer and Winter internships, including unpaid internships Be sure that the internship schedule you create meets the criteria listed below credit 40 minimum hours of work credits 80 minimum hours of work credits 120 minimum hours of work credits 160 minimum hours of work credits 200 minimum hours of work credits 320 minimum hours of work 12 credits 440 minimum hours of work 15 credits 560 minimum hours of work A maximum of 15 internship credits can be applied towards the graduation requirement of 120 credit hours Academic departments set a limit of zero to six internship credits that are eligible towards the academic major 15 credit internships are permitted for seniors and select juniors Underclassmen are encouraged to multiple internships that may accumulate to 15 credits Questions?
