University of Liverpool’s activities within the National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) and other associated regional programmes under the directorship of Professor Raval The position involves liaison with key stakeholders at the University of Liverpool as well as external academic/research partner institutions and industrial collaborators This role will be located in Open Innovation Hub for Antimicrobial Surfaces, at the University of Liverpool supporting activities for the National Biofilm Innovation Centre (NBIC) led by teams at the Universities of Liverpool, Southampton, Edinburgh and Nottingham with a partnership with 48 universities and research centres across the UK as well as major global centres – The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), the Centre for Biofilm Engineering at Montana State University (USA) and an increasing number of international research centres The NBIC at Liverpool is directed by Professor Rasmita Raval and spans the Surface Science Research Centre, Department of Chemistry and the Open Innovation Hub for Antimicrobial Surfaces This post will require working closely with and reporting to Professor Raval at the University of Liverpool to coordinate activities at Liverpool, which include research and innovation aspects, alongside oversight and coordination of BITE Doctoral Training Programme There will be close liaison and working with the rest of NBIC’s Operations Team across the four lead Universities, and this will require reporting to the NBIC Operations Director NBIC collaborates with a fast growing network of over 150 commercial partners from different sectors ranging from SMEs to large companies to exploit the UK’s global leadership in biofilms The centre’s inclusive model means that other universities and companies conducting biofilm research can participate and benefit from partnership with the NBIC consortium This role will also partly support the SIPF and ERDF workstreams that are run under the Directorship of Professor Raval and which involve partnership with regional centres of excellence and industry Candidates must have previous experience of working in research administration and coordination of events Project management experience and a degree (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience) is desirable but not essential Candidates should have excellent organisational and communication skills, combined with a high degree of self-motivation and a pro-active approach to work Travel to NBIC events and project partners within the UK will be required as part of the post This full-time, fixed-term post is available until the 30th November 2022 An initial month probation period will be effective as part of NBIC operating framework Purpose of role To provide comprehensive, high quality professional support to academic and research staff with respect to the logistics and activities of the National Biofilms Centre (NBIC) at Liverpool, and NBIC nationally as required Liaison with key stakeholders in the Open Innovation Hub for Antimicrobial Surfaces and the University of Liverpool as well as external academic partner institutions and industrial collaborators Main responsibilities NBIC Directorship support and liaison     Provide confidential and personal assistance to the Liverpool Director of NBIC) e.g diary management to implement actions and follow up responses including phone calls, emails and other correspondence Act as the main liaison point at Liverpool for the NBIC operations team across the four lead Universities, and for other OPIHAS partnerships in regional programmes to ensure smooth communication and distribution of documents between these multi-site centres and the Liverpool director Organising multidisciplinary challenge-led workshops and events This will include defining event programmes, in co-operation with the Liverpool Director and NBIC operational team, or with regional partnershps Proactively develop strong working relationships with both internal and external contacts Organisation of NBIC and OPIHAS Activities       Organise multidisciplinary challenge-led to advise and inform the leadership team on the management of project resources within budget and schedule Organise and manage the logistics of recruitment activities, including the shortlisting and interviewing of researchers for NBIC, candidates for NBIC’s Doctoral Training Centre (DTC), and researchers for OPIHAS regional programmes Coordinate and support the NBIC’s Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) activities including organising and managing the logistics of recruitment activities, as well as meetings, symposia, course and other training activities for NBIC staff and the DTC members Compilation and formatting of booklets, updating of websites, operating social media handles, organisation of schedules, registration, hospitality, travel, accommodation and organisation of venues and catering Occasional out of hours working including travel to/from off-site venues will be required Supporting Grant Applications   Provide administrative support for grant applications by collecting from and providing data to coapplicants from industry and academia, liaising with the School’s finance team and University administration Centre Provide support for periodic reporting activities within NBIC including KPI indicators and the renewal of applications IP and Commercialisation Support  Provide general administrative support Intellectual Property and commercialisation activities for NBIC by liaising with the relevant administrative department at the University of Liverpool Meeting Support  Travel to and support meetings, including the organisation of agendas/papers, minute taking and following up on action points  This post is part-funded by European Regional Development Fund as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme
