TABLE OF CONTENT PART A: INTRODUCTION Some common difficulties in the process of translating a scientific article or a article from the source language to the target language can be mentioned as vocabulary (specialized terms, multi-meaning words, local words ), idioms, grammar (passive form, imperative sentences, noun phrases ), language change; and many cultural, stylistic, lexical, cultural matter issues, pragmatic, social changes… PART B: DEVELOPMENT A Extract: (original text) A Health care seeking behaviour among the elderly in Hue City Vietnam is facing a rapid increase in aging population Older population, accounted for 10.2% of the country’s population in 2014, has expanded much greater than the preceding years with an expected grow to reach almost 20% of the population by 2035 (1) In 2019, average life expectancy at birth of Vietnamese people was 71 years old for males and 76.3 for females (2) Although health status of people has been significantly improved for the past decades, the difference between life expectancy and healthy life expectancy at birth (that means that means average number of years they live in a ‘healthy’ state (3) in Vietnam was relatively higher than in other countries Average number of years lived with morbidity was estimated about 11 years for females and years for males (4) According to a survey on the elderly in Vietnam in 2011, 65.4% of respondents self-assessed their health status at poor or very poor level (5) A report of Ministry of Health in 2018 showed that 95% elderly facing morbidity, mainly non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and they often suffer from many diseases simultaneously with averagely near three diseases per each older person (6) Hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) are common diseases in the elderly in the country (7) One of factors that affected health status of the elderly is health care seeking behaviour This behaviour refers to a decision or an action taken by an individual to maintain, attain, or regain good health and to prevent illness (8) This influenced a person making decision to use available health care services The present study is to investigate health care seeking behaviour and to identify factors associated those behaviour among elderly living in Hue city, Vietnam A Các khó khăn ngơn ngữ sinh viên gặp phải trình thực hành biên dịch quảng cáo (Source: Các khó khăn ngơn ngữ q trình biên dịch quảng cáo cung cấp thơng tin sinh viên năm cuối chuyên ngành phiên- biên dịch tiếng anh, Trường Đại học Cần Thơ) Có thể thấy sinh viên gặp nhiều khó khăn dịch từ chuyên ngành (87,8%) Trong đó, họ gặp nhiều trở ngại dịch từ nhiều nghĩa (70,7%), danh từ riêng (65,9%) gặp khó khăn dịch thành ngữ (12,2%) Như vậy, sinh viên gặp nhiều khó khăn từ vựng dịch quảng cáo từ tiếng Anh sang tiếng Việt Danh từ riêng “Brett Cleaning” dịch “Dịch vụ Vệ sinh Brett” Bảng cho thấy có 65,9% đưa dịch khơng phù hợp “Dụng cụ làm Brett Cleaning” “Bộ chùi rửa Brett Cleaning” Qua thấy sinh viên thật gặp nhiều khó khăn dịch mẩu quảng cáo có chứa danh từ riêng (trong trường hợp tên cơng ty) Họ có lẽ chưa biết trường hợp nên dịch, giữ nguyên dịch phần danh từ riêng (trong trường hợp tên công ty cung cấp sản phẩm/dịch vụ) Kết tương đối giống với quan điểm Péter (2002) cho dịch danh từ riêng khía cạnh dịch thuật gây nhiều khó khăn cho người biên dịch Thành ngữ Thành ngữ “take their toll on” dịch “gây ảnh hưởng xấu đến” “tác động xấu đến” Đây thành ngữ tra nghĩa từ điển Có 12,2% sinh viên dịch sai thành ngữ thành “ảnh hưởng đến” “mất đi”, qua cho thấy sinh viên gặp trở ngại dịch thành ngữ mẩu quảng cáo Ngun nhân có lẽ mẩu quảng cáo chọn chủ yếu tập trung cung cấp thông tin sản phẩm/dịch vụ cho đối tượng khách hàng tiềm để khuyến khích họ đưa định mua/sử dụng sản phẩm/dịch vụ nên ngơn ngữ (trong trường hợp thành ngữ) sử dụng mẩu quảng cáo cần phải dễ hiểu ngắn gọn (Cui, 2009) Đối với từ chuyên ngành cho thấy sinh viên gặp nhiều khó khăn dịch từ chuyên ngành 87,8% sinh viên dịch cụm “hard landscaping” “cảnh quan cứng”, “cảnh quan sân vườn”, “dụng cụ làm vườn” Trong thuật ngữ chuyên ngành kiến trúc cảnh quan nên dịch “vật liệu trang trí sân vườn” Ngun nhân sinh viên khơng quen thuộc với từ vựng chuyên ngành kiến trúc cảnh quan thiếu kiến thức chuyên ngành Hơn nữa, sinh viên chưa có thói quen sử dụng từ điển Anh -
