APPLICATIONS OF SOME SOFTWARE FOR TEACHING GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY EFFECTIVELY FOR 9TH STUDENTS TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS IN THE GRADE 10 PART I: ASKING THE PROBLEM Reason for choosing the topic In the past years, due to many outbreaks of the COVID-19 epidemic, many educational and training institutions had to close their doors for a long time or switch to online teaching in the condition of lack of preparation and passive staff capacity teachers, administrators, facilities and technical infrastructure Online learning has had a significant impact on ensuring programs, methods, teaching and learning organization plans, activities of schools and classes, and on the development of children, students, and students across the country In particular, online teaching is an effective teaching method that teachers and students need to apply in a oriented way to transmit knowledge to students flexibly, helping people learning according to the lecture circuit to achieve the goals of the lesson and subject Online teaching has been and will become a trend to be strengthened, consolidated and gradually become an inevitable trend, a task key in the tasks of implementing the school year to adapt to the new situation However, at present, a number of educational and training institutions at all levels face many difficulties when implementing online teaching, testing and assessing student learning outcomes, especially when translating The disease is complex and widespread With the number of students and students accounting for about 25% of the country's population, it only takes million hits at the same time, it will be difficult for the transmission line to maintain stable school hours Moreover, many families of students and students with difficult economic conditions not have enough means and computers to study, access technology, and absorb lectures Besides, teachers' methods also need to innovate in order to adapt and stimulate students' interest in the subject Especially for students in the final grade and preparing for entrance exams, it is necessary to pay more attention and find promotion measures to improve the quality of online teaching hours Due to the urgency and trend of the problem, I researched the solution: APPLICATIONS OF SOME SOFTWARE FOR TEACHING GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY EFFECTIVELY FOR 9TH STUDENTS TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS IN THE GRADE 10 Subjects and time of application of measures Subjects of application are 9th grade students including classes: 9A, 9C at Nhu Ba Sy secondary school - Hoang Hoa - Thanh Hoa, total 74 students The time to apply the measure is the school year 2021-2022 Purpose and scope of research The topic is researched and applied with main purposes: Identifying the difficulties and shortcomings of online teaching due to the urgent trend, prompting teachers and students to quickly adapt to the epidemic situation Give some suggestions and technology solutions to apply effectively in online teaching time, especially for 9th graders who need to focus on improving grammar and vocabulary to prepare for the 10th exam effectively PART 2: PROBLEM SOLUTION Initial situation before applying the initiative In terms of teachers, currently, in the awareness of teaching methods, many teachers are still confused with online teaching activities, because they are familiar with traditional teaching and not know how to apply different software to increase teaching quality vibrancy for online lessons Therefore, many teachers only focus on going straight to the core of the lesson, making students not really understand and grasp the background knowledge for that lesson topic Due to the limitation of awareness and methods, teachers not innovate and learn about interesting tricks or activities for students to create motivation to love the subject more In terms of facilities, teaching materials for children have not been fully invested such as dictionaries, books, tapes, cassette players, projectors, etc software, other applications should also cause more or less limitations in learning English On the part of students, students are not really passionate about the subject, many of them often show fatigue and are not enthusiastic about participating in activities in the class Many students still have difficulty focusing on online lessons Furthermore, students' background knowledge of some topics in the English textbook curriculum in general and grade in particular is still very weak GOOD CLASS 9A SIZE 42 FAIR AVERAGE Numbe r Percent Number Percent Number Percent 14,3% 15 35,7% 21 50% 9C 32 9,4% 10 31,2% 19 59,4% Through the survey at the beginning of the year of 9th graders, the percentage of students who well in English is not high, specifically as follows: (Test Appendix 1) From the assessment and survey above, it can be seen that the quality of students is still average, the number is quite good, only 30-40% Solution content (implementation process, implementation time, organizational measures ) For websites or software used for online teaching, teachers can use available applications or program their own software or website Currently, teachers can use meeting applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, MS Team, etc… to teach For this form, it requires the presence of the teacher and the student at the same time However, it will be more interactive and on track with pre-made archived content Online teaching platforms need to ensure factors The first factor is to ensure a stable connection The application platform itself needs to be programmed to work smoothly No problem of weak transmission or slow transmission speed The second factor is the presentation feature, video and audio recording is essential If teachers design courses in the form of through platforms That is, teaching right now (livestream) The most prominent and effective online teaching software today: Zoom cloud meeting Microsoft Teams Google classroom Skype An English lesson will be really effective if the teacher knows how to make the lesson lively, interesting and engaging for students, so teachers must prepare well effective platforms and applications The fact that an online class is effective or not depends on how the majority of students participate, so in the classroom, creating many different forms of applications will attract students to the class, develop promote the activeness and positivity of students throughout the process of participating in learning activities Here are some organizational forms of application activities that I have applied very successfully in teaching grammar and vocabulary for 9th grade students to prepare for exams in the grade 10 school year 2021 - easier for learners to remember It gives users almost limitless opportunities to learn vocabulary Advantages: Quizlet is very useful in creating more motivation for users because the application attracts the attention of a large number of students and teachers The software helps teachers create coursework for classes or even live games for students to absorb more useful materials and knowledge This is considered an effective learning method for students Besides, Quizlet also helps learners to master and understand the content of interest, and the application also organizes a lot of activities and attracts users more thanks to everyone's own contributions In the world I have used the website that is very effective in teaching vocabulary through flashcards and other very useful word link resources 10 Limitations: As a flashcard application, Quizlet's sets are limited in content and are only really suitable for learning languages or memorizing certain concepts and terms In other words, the practical applicability of learning on Quizlet is quite limited d Create exercises and games on Wordwall Pros: Wordwall is an online teaching tool used to design real-world content for students such as games Teachers will design content students need to on Wordwall with available templates, then send links for students to practice and exercises All student results will be displayed at the teacher's results interface to know the student's ability Overall, Wordwall is an easy-touse learning aid for creating interactive classroom exercises This website will provide a variety of activities for you to choose from, making learning much more enjoyable I apply the software to play vocabulary-related games very effectively for students to prepare for exams and memorize vocabulary, for example wordsearch on the topic Family 11 Limitations: One limitation is that with the free account, teachers can only create up to types of activities, after which they will have to delete old activities to create new ones e Liveworksheets Liveworksheets is a tool that allows teachers to create interactive worksheets for students With this tool, teaching and learning online will be easier Teachers simply upload their traditional printed assignments as PDF or Word documents, and then convert them to create worksheets in different formats When students access, they can see those assignments Students after taking the test can see the score displayed directly on the work Advantages: Assigning homework to students will no longer be a worry for teachers with this convenient learning application, teaching by liveworksheet helps teachers save time, save paper and ink Instead of a traditional noninteractive PDF file, the liveworksheet allows teachers to create interactive exercises for students Students will no longer be bored when each assignment has to be written down in notebooks and can only be done in the form of notes on paper Besides, it also develops comprehensive listening, speaking, reading skills of students with recording feature of liveworksheet Diverse exercises, many different ways of integrating images and videos, arouse students' can store up to 120000 student responses PART 3: CONCLUSION Effect of the measure obtained after application I have applied these measures in the 2020-2021 school year and the results obtained in
