LESSON PLAN Group Members:    LESSON PLAN 01 Topic: Feelings Level: Beginner Length: 45 minutes Age: 5-6 years old Language Skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading Methodology: TPR, Communicative Lesson Objectives: - Identify and use new words: mad, excited, sad, tired - By the end of the lesson the students will be able to express their feelings Materials: Audio files (songs), flashcards, crayons, paper, worksheets Stage Activity Warm up Sing and (5-7 mins) dance Description - Stabilize Greet and check attendance - Introduce to the students (Ss) the feelings song “If you happy” Say “Let’s sing and dance together” and have all the Ss act out the movements along with you - Have the Ss speak aloud classroom rules: sit nicely, no Vietnamese, be kind, say thank you and please… Pre-task (2 mins) Introduce - Shows a picture of many faces with different expressions on topic the board (or draw some simple faces if have no projector), “Feelings” points and says “Today, we’re going to learn about feelings Are you ready?” The Ss say “Yes, I’m ready” Activity (10 mins) Vocabulary Use TPR to teach new words - Ask the Ss “How you feel?”, then they may answer how they feel (or not) This’s just for checking how many feeling words your Ss already know - Make a mad face, then says “mad” Have the Ss repeat Use hands or paper cover the face, change the emotion into “excited, tired, sad”, put things off the face fast, say and have the Ss repeat the new words - Do faster and have the Ss guest and speak aloud how the teacher feels Task: What’s Missing? - Hang flashcards (FCs) on the board, have the Ss turn their heads to the other way and close their eyes - Take one FC down and hide it behind your back Have the Ss open their eyes and shout out the missing FC - Do this for the other FCs at a quick pace Activity Phonics - Pronounce slowly, have the Ss repeat all new words, pay particular attention to the hard “d” ( /d/ ) sound at the ending of (7 mins) words Tips: Phonics Puppets - Raise your left fist, knock in the air when saying “ma-, excite-, sa-, tire-”, raise the right one, the same and say the sound /d/ - Move fists bump each other and say complete words - Have the Ss and read the chants: ma- ma-d, ma-ma-d, sasa-d, sa- sa-d… (some Ss like to punch their fists in the air like Kung Fu fighters, that makes things more fun and release the Ss’ energy) Activity (10 mins) Grammar Structure: How you feel? – I feel… - Ask your Ss “How you feel?” with arms and hands wide open Answer yourself “I feel…” and make a sad face, let the Ss complete that answer when they speak aloud “sad” - Now ask them listen and repeat “I feel sad” Make sure they say the whole sentence And so on with other words Task: Draw Faces - Give each student a piece of paper and crayons, have them draw a big cirle, then fill it with eyes, nose and mouth to express different emotions - At the end of the activity, invite some Ss to show the rest of the class their pictures and say what the feeling words are (or get the others to guess) Wrap up Revision - Now we have all the pictures of all the Ss Hang them on the board Give some comments, stickers for the most beautiful (5 mins) picture - Review all new words one more time - The Ss sing and dance “Goodbye song” Homework Worksheet it themselves (1 min) Back up (if any) - Give each student a prepared worksheet, instruct them how to Notes - Some activities may be replaced by online or face-to-face teaching - Here are some websites or games that could be used when an immediate change in classroom activities is needed for any reason - Websites: wheelofnames.com wordwall.net - Games: Passing ball, Music chair… Resources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4WNrvVjiTw Song: If You’re Happy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PraN5ZoSjiY Song: Bye Bye Goodbye LESSON PLAN 02 Topic: My toys Class description: - Class size: 13 -15 children at the age of 5- years old Time: 30 minutes Aims: - Review learnt words: ball, teddy bear - Introduce new words about My toys: puzzle, blocks - Introduce the sentence: what you have?  I have a block/ puzzle/ball/teddy bear  I have blocks Objectives: a Knowledge: - Identify new words: puzzle, blocks - Recall learnt words: ball, teddy bear - Memorize the structure and distinguish between structures (I have a block / I have blocks) b Skills: - Pronounce correctly words about my toys (ball, teddy bear, puzzle, blocks) - Practice answering questions using a learnt structures - Practice listening and speaking skills c Attitudes: - Be interested in learning English - Participate actively in the lesson Preparation a Environment: - A large and clean classroom in order to the necessary equipments Teaching procedure Stage and aims Warm-up (to warm up, boost student’s learning , motivation, recall greeting structures) Time 5min s Content Greeting: Practicing learnt greeting structures (2 minutes) Teacher Students T asks the children then praises” Hello everyone, How are you ?
