Úc có số ca bị cúm giảm đáng kể trong thời gian phong tỏa
Các biện pháp được thiết kế để ngăn chặn sự lây lan của virut corona ở Úc dường như cũng đang ngăn chặn bệnh cúm ở nước này.
Năm nay, Úc có 6962 ca cúm được xác nhận trong phịng thí nghiệm vào tháng 1 và 7161 vào tháng 2. Tuy nhiên, các ca nhiễm đã giảm đột ngột, với 5884 được ghi nhận vào tháng 3 và chỉ 229 vào
tháng 4, so với 18.705 vào tháng 4 năm 2019. Dù cho năm nay công tác xét nghiệm cúm được thực hiện nhiều hơn.
Sự giảm sút mạnh này có lẽ là do quyết định của Úc trong việc kiểm soát sự lây lan của covid-19
bằng cách cấm các cuộc tụ họp không cần thiết với hơn 500 người từ ngày 16 tháng 3 và sau đó đóng cửa biên giới vào ngày 20 tháng 3. Vào ngày 23 tháng 3, các hoạt động kinh doanh không thật sự thiết yếu như quán rượu, phòng tập thể dục, nhà hàng và rạp chiếu phim đã bị ép phải đóng
cửa.
Ngồi ra, vào giữa tháng 3, các tiểu bang và vùng lãnh thổ bắt đầu khuyến khích học tập từ xa nếu có thể. Đây có lẽ là một lý do khác khiến các trường hợp cúm giảm.

Coronavirus second waves in the US
Arizona, North Carolina and Florida are all US states that are now experiencing a spike in confirmed
coronavirus cases while lifting stay-at-home orders. On 10 June, the US surpassed 2 million
confirmed cases of covid-19, representing an increase of more than 140,000 from the previous week. Around two months ago, the country saw a weekly increase in confirmed cases of more than 210,000, largely due to hotspots such as New York City and Seattle, Washington.
Rates of new cases in each of those cities, along with the percentage of tests that are positive, have now decreased. But places that weren‟t as severely affected by the first peak are driving the recent
increase, including regions of Arkansas, Georgia and California.
But reopening is just one of several factors at play. A lack of social and health infrastructure, lags in testing, confusion in case-reporting and individual risk-taking behaviour have also advanced the
spread of the virus.
Stemming this rise in cases will require effort from both individuals and policy-makers. The US will
have to implement regular, large-scale contact tracing and testing for entire workplaces and
communities, as well as provide a support system to healthcare workers on the frontline.
