Week : 20 Period: 39 Date of preparation: 30/12/2016 Date of teaching: 03/01/2017 UNIT 6: THE ENVIRONMENT LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to be aware of protecting the environment, and learn about the conditional sentence type I II PREPARATION: Text book, computer III PROCEDURE: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1/ Warm-up : (7’) - Hang on some pictures on the board, and ask Ss to match these pictures with the environmental problems, then ask Ss to take note their meaning - Lead to the lesson STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES - Match and take note I Getting started: Garbage dump Air pollution Water pollution Deforestation Dynamite fishing Spraying pesticides - Listen and copy down 2/ Presentation: (13’) - Guess and take note - Elicit new words I New words:  garbage dump (n): bãi rác  deforestation (n): tàn phá rừng  spray (v): phun  pesticides (n): thuốc trf sâu  spoil (v) = destroy (v): phá hủy  Dissapointed (a): thất vọng Ex: I’m disapointed that people have spoiled this area S + be + Adj + that + clause - Do as directed - Check new words: R.O.R - Guess in pair - Ask Ss to guess matching the names in column A with the tasks in column B(task a/p.48) 3/ Practice: (17’)  Activity 1: - Turn on the tape times and ask them to read the passage in the book : “ Mr Brown is talking to some volunteer conservationist” - Ask Ss to the exercise a ) - Listen to the tape carefully - Work individually and write the + Have then write the full sentences + Call on some Ss to read the full sentences aloud - Give correct answers : Group – f walk along the shore Group – e check the sand Group – b check among the rocks Mr Jones – a collect all the bags and take them to the garbage dump Mrs Smith – c provide a picnic lunch for everyone Mr Brown – d give out the bags  Activity 2: - Have Ss read the passage again and answer the questions - Ask Ss to compare their answers with a friend - Go around the class and provide necessary corrections - Call on some pairs to practice in the front - Give correct answers : The speaker is Mr Brown The listeners are members of volunteer conservationists They are on the beach If they work hard , they will make the beach clean and beautiful again soon 4/ Production: (6’) - Give the form of conditional sentence type I Conditional type I: If S.present, S.future - Ask Ss to choose the correct option (Bad Ss) If you come late , the teacher ………….you in A don’t let B doesn’t let C lets D won’t let If Ba …… here tomorrow , I will phone you A comes B come C will come D came If he is careful,he get good marks A.must B.will C.could D.would 5/ Homework: (2’) full sentences - Read their sentences aloud - Read the passage again to answer the questions - Compare with a friend - Practice in front of class - Copy down - Pay attention and copy down - Work individually D A B - Write assignments - Have Ss: + Answer the 6th and 7th questions + Learn new words , rewrite the answer in notebook + Prepare for the next period Unit 6: lesson 2: Speak +Listen IV COMMENT: Week : 20 Period: 40 Date of preparation: 02/01/2017 Date of teaching: 05/01/2017 UNIT 6: THE ENVIRONMENT LESSON 2: SPEAK – LISTEN I OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: + Persuade their friends to protect the environment + Know more about the environment problems and the solutions + Complete the information notes about ocean pollution through a report II PREPARATION: Text book, pictures, extra board III PROCEDURE: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES 1/Warm up : (7’) Networks - Ask Ss play game in two teams - Play game Water pollution Air pollution Environmenta - Set the scene “ Wel will learn the way to persuade problem some one protecting environment 2/ Pre-speaking: (15’)  Activity 1: Garbage dump - Listen deforestation Environmenta l problem - Say “In order to try to persuade someone to something to protect the environment We can use the following sentences.” - Take note and repeat - Explain the meaning of some new words II New words:  wrap (v): gói  dissolve (v): phân hủy  reuse (v): tái sử dụng - Pay attention and write down I Model sentences : - I think you should .: nghó nên - Won’t you ? bạn không ? - It would be better if you … : seõ tốt bạn ……… - Why don’t you ? bạn không ? - Why not ? không ? - What/ How about ? coøn ?  Activity 2:  recycle (v): tái chế  harm (v): gây hại - Check new words: Slap the board - Ask Ss to read the persuading expressions and the ideas cues given in the textbook carefully, then choose one of the ideas suggested 3/ While-speaking: (18’)  Activity 1: - Let Ss work in pairs, persuade their partner to things to protect the environment as example * EX: A : I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food B : Why ? A : Because plastic bags are very hard to dissolve, and we can save the environment - Go around and provide help if necessary - Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue before the class  Activity 2: - Ask Ss to work individually to find the answers to the questionnaire How can we …  save paper (1)  use fewer plastic bags? (1)  reduce water pollution? (3)  prevent littering? (5)  reduce air pollution? (4), (6)  reduce the amount of garbage we produce? (2) - Ask Ss to work in pairs * Ex: B: How can we use fewer plastic bags? A : I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food B : Why ?
