NATIONAL UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT REPORT INTERNSHIP NAME: Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan ID: IEIEIU17067 A INTRODUCTION To consolidate the knowledge and experiment of students of Industrial Systems Engineering Department before graduating, Internship was decided to be a required subject It helps students have a overview about companies and career In Internship 1, we have visited companies whose products are well-known by consumers in foodstuffs industries: AJINOMOTO, ACECOOK, HEINEKEN, YAKULT Through the guider’s explaination of each companies, we can clearly understand about how to manufacture product and the interaction between workers and machines With this report, I will summary what I have learnt in this subject Moreover, I want to thank companies that have organized a realistic trip which provide us a lot of information to finish the course Also, thank to teachers from ISE Department who help and support us during the Internship I sincerely thank you B GENERAL This report article written about four companies-factories: ACECOOK VietNam - factory producing instant food AJINOMOTO VietNam – factory producing spices HEINEKEN – factory producing beer YAKULT – factory producing drunk-yogurt C COMPANY DESCRIPTION ACECOOK General Overview: - Company: Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company - Factory: factories nationwide - Product: Instant noodle - Distribution: More than 40 nations in the world Characteristic: - Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company has developed dramatically since its founding in 1995 and has become a major food company in Vietnam.Acecook Vietnam has achieved a powerful market position while offering high quality and dietary values for instantly processed products - Factory equipped with contemporary machinery can generate big quantities of noodles and 600 packs per minute high velocity Only factories nationwide, but at home and overseas, Acecook can provide sufficient customer’s demand With the variety of types, taste as well as suitable price, Acecook becomes a friend of all families Production Process - Material:  Noodle: wheat flour and turmeric extraction for yellow color  Spices: dried vegetables, chicken, pork, shrimp, eggs,… and refined oil, spices - Each product has different formula, ingredients and process time However, to make fried noodle always includes steps:         The formula Mix the powder coarse powder rolling Rolling dough essential Cut yarn Cooked Fried Cooled Packed - Acecook has many modern equipment imported from Japan which are arranged logically created an automated production line Each ingredient is always the best selection Factory is always kept clean and safe to bring customer high quality product and suitable price Worker and production environment - Workers are required to wear protective gear included shoes, hats, clothing, gloves and mask during work With the assistance of modern equipment, the worker can work comfortably and less pressure Moreover, safety equipment is equipped in the factory which helps workers handle with unfortunate accident easily Observation - Workers still have to add spices manually - The error product is dismissed off the lines but these fall to the floor - Workers need to bend their backs when adding spices which will affect their spine if they work for a long time AJINOMOTO General Overview: - Company: Ajinomoto Vietnam - Factory: factories, distribution center - Product: Spices (MSG), mayonnaise, soysauce, cosmetic, pharmaceutical,… Characteristic: - Ajinomoto VietNam is totally invested bt Ajinomoto Japan with 70 million dollars from now They have factories: Bien Hoa and Long Thanh which produce to response to Vietnamese customer demand and for import purpose - Their outstanding point is the water treatment system placed in Bien Hoa factory The flow out of this system is flown directly into Dong Nai River in Bien Hoa factories The total investment for this system almost 100 billion VND Production process: Use natural crop as raw materials Glutamic acid is produced through a fermentation process Glutamic acid is isolated through crystallization Glutamic acid is made into monosodium glutamate Monosodium glutamate solution is cleaned up 6 Monosodium glutamate is crystallized Monosodium glutamate crystals are dried Monosodium glutamate crystals are weighed and packaged Ajinomoto is ready to be delivered to your table Worker and production environment - Food safety is the most concern of this business so that every worker is required to wear protective gear and need to be cleaned repeatedly during work - The production mainly depends on production line, the worker just simple work such as add spices, check product defects, product placement, … Observation - Ajinomoto still uses more labor than other company Worker need to almost steps - This factory product is sweeteness with machine The problem is their machine is difficult to clean HEINEKEN General Overview: - Company: HEINEKEN Group - Factory: 190 factories in over 70 countries (six breweries across Vietnam, in Hanoi, Da Nang, Quang Nam, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau and Tien Giang) - Products: beers and ciders (over 250 beer brands and cider brands n more than 180 countries) Characteristic: - HEINEKEN Vietnam today has become the second biggest brewer in Vietnam with more than 3,500 staff from humble beginnings with just 20 staff Every year, HEINEKEN Vietnam makes a significant contribution to the economy of Vietnam, accounting for about 0.9 percent of domestic GDP - In 2017 and 2018, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) honors HEINEKEN Vietnam as the Most Sustainable Manufacturing Enterprise in Vietnam under the Program for Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam (CSI) Production Process: - Ingredient: Malts, hops, A – yeast and water - HENEIKEN manufactures brands of beer: Heineken, Tiger and Larue which have the difference between recipe and brewing time However, to ensure the quality of the product, the brewing technology and quality control system are to same - It includes steps to make beer completely:  Milling  Mashing  Wort filtration  Boiling with hops  Wort clarification and cooling  Fermentation  Maturation  Filtration - Then, The bright beer is transferred from cold cellars to a pipeline system to bottling, canning or keg lines according to production demands - HEINEKEN uses advanced European technology, the capacity of bottling and canning lines reaches to 90,000 cans/hour and 50,000 bottles/hour - In its breweries and distribution system, they applies the highest standard for maintenance and transportation to guarantee that the product reaching customers is always of the best quality Worker and production environment - Work environment: professional, safety, clean - Products mainly manufactures by closing production line system - Worker work such as: repair and warrant machine, check product defects, … Observation: - With only line of production system but the factory need to produce kind of beer, so the line need to be cleaned carefully to ensure the taste and quality of each beer YAKULT General Overview: - Company: Yakult Honsha - Product: Food and beverages, cosmetic and pharmaceuticals - Distribution: more than 38 countries in the world Characteristic: - Yakult is one of the leading company in Japan and also a pioneer in the Probiotics field - Only one factory in Binh Duong, the products have been distributed to provinces and cities in VietNam - Their factory always maintains the production process with the highest quality standards, just like the Yakult factory in Japan The production process Yakult adopts strict production standards, ensuring nearly 99% product acquisition (which means 99% of raw materials are maximized to the end product, very little waste is discharged) - With Yakult's philosophy of "contributing to the healthy life of people all over the world", Yakult believes that protecting the earth's environment is the most important aspect of production operations in harmony with life and society Production Process: - Ingredients: skimmed milk powder, glucose sugar, sugar, water and the Lactobacillus Casei Shirota probiotic strain - Process: - The product line at most done by machine in the closing production system - Yakult company have ways to sale their products:  Direct Sales: Consumers come to distributors such as supermarket or grocery store,… to buy Yakult  Home Delivery: Yakult Lady will deliver the product to consumer’s home Worker and production environment: - Working environment: safety, clean, modern When involved in the production process, all engineers must perform strict procedures as: change shoes; wear a hat and a mask; hand sanitizer with alcohol; blow sterilized air Observation: - “Yakult Lady” is a creative idea which can facilitate work for unemployment woman and bring the product close to customer However, if the products - are not stored carefully (in suitable temperature), the taste will be too sour that leads to decrease the number of consumers Only one factory in Bien Hoa leads to the problem about logistics The company have to pay much for delivery products to Middle and North of Viet Nam D CONCLUSION Although companies are not the same kind of business, all of them have modernized their technology and their working environment Their engineers always ensure that their equipment in the best condition to produce the best quality products and keep clean the machine for harmless to customer’s health Moreover, all of them mostly pay attention to the safety of employees Workers must wear protective gear during work in any cases during work References: https://www.heineken.com/vn http://yakult.vn/ http://www.ajinomoto.com.vn/ https://acecookvietnam.vn/
