I AIMS:

1 Educational aim:

- Student should contribute their part to some traditional festival

- Student should know more about the celebration of Tet and other festivals’ activities

2 Knowledge:

General knowledge: Through the unit students understand some background information about the festival such as time, activities in the festival

Language: understand some word use to describing celebrations

3 Skills:

- Scan for specific information

-Skim for the gist of the context

II Teaching Aids

Teacher : Handouts, pictures concern to Tet holiday Students: School documents

III Anticipated problems

Ss may not have enough vocabulary to talk about the topic, so T should be ready to help them

VI Procedure

1 Organizations: Teacher comes to class and asks Ss how they prepare their lesson at home (1mm)

2 Oral test: during new lesson new lesson:

- Asks Ss to look at the picture on page 90 and discuss the questions in pairs - Goes around to offer help

1 It is Spring and it should be Tet holiday because we can see peach blossom and kumquat tree full of ripe fruits

2 The grandmother is giving her niece and nephew some lucky money The girl, the boy and their parents good health and happiness In the picture we can see a five-fruit tray on the ancestral altar and a dish of fruits, a tray of candied fruits and a Banh chung on the table

Setting the scene

You are going to read a passage about Tet holiday in Vietnam After reading, do the tasks in textbook

Task 1

- Asks Ss to the task Find the meanings of the words

+ T prepares a hand down which consist of column
