LETTER U Lesson 3 I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:  Read and say the three Uuwordscorrectly

 Recognize and say an extra Uu word correctly Pronunciation: U,u /ju:/

* Vocabulary: Up, umbrella, ugly, under 2 Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills 3 Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson Work hard

III TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

II TEACHING METHODS:

- Work in pairs , individual, in groups … IV PROCEDURE:

Ask the students to memorise the order of items in the first rowof the activity

Ask the students to close their books then teacher covers item in the first row

Ask the students to guess the name of the covered item Repeat the activity with other items or other rows

Activity (5’)

Show the students the under phonics card Point to it and say: // - under Ask them to repeat

Point under the desk and say: // - under Encourage the students to the same

Say the letter The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can)

Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat the word

Point to the picture and have students name them Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures

of words start with the // sound

Go around the classroom providing any necessary help

Activity (5’)

Ask the students to take out their notebooks

Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks

Tell them to colour the letter and the picture The first three students who finish will show their

pictures to the class

Repeat with the small letter u

The students trace the letters in their activity books Go around and provide any necessary help Ask the

students to say the sound of the letter

* Activity 2:(10 mins) Explain the activity

First, the students trace the letters in the boxes Then draw lines from the letters to the corresponding pictures.Answer keys: Rr- robot Ss- star Tt- tiger Uu- umbrella

* Activity 3: (5 mins) Explain the activity

Ask the students to write the letter Uu in the box

Write the letter Uu Then circle the pictures of the words that begin with the u sound (Page 19 – Activity Book)
