Lesson 2 I Objectives:

knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three W words correctly recognize and say a new W word correctly

2 Skills: listening, speaking,

3 Attitude: Ss like studying English II Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III Method: MAT, TPA. IV Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Check absent students

1 Warm up (2’)

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words

2 New lesson

Teacher and student’s Activities contents Activity 1(10 mins)

- T encourages Ss to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says

- Ss: listen and point

- T plays the CD Have the students listen to the story once

- Ss: listen

- Play the CD again The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

- Ss: listen the story and point

- T reads the printed words then let Ss look at

the pictures and say the words - Ss: look and say

- Ask students work in pairs One reads while the other checks, then they change roles

- Ss: work in pair

Activity 2:(5 mins)

- T point to and says the sight words and then has Ss repeat

- T has some students read them aloud - Ss: read aloud

Activity 3(10 mins)

- T asks Ss open the book p.72 look unit 10 then asks them read the song

- Ss: read in chorus

- T follows the same procedure and presents the rest of the song

- T play the CD

- Ss: listen and sing along

- T plays the CD again The students sing and corresponding actions

Activity 4: Jumping Game (7 mins)

- Put a line of masking tape on the floor - Designate one side True and the other False

T holds up a phonics card (e.g nut) and say: question

- Ss: Jump on the True side

- T holds up another phonics card (e.g: nut) and say: nest

- Ss: jump on the False side

- T does the same with another phonics card - Give feedback

5.Song

4 Consolidation: (2’)

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home

3 New lesson

Teacher and student’s Activities Contents Activity 1: Reading(7 mins)

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons

- Point to the pictures and elicit the sounds and word for each

- Ask the students to colour the items that begin with the /w/ sound, use any colour they like

- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help

Activity 2: drawing Game (5 mins)(PHTM) -T has Ss draw many picture that they can

6 Colour the things that begin with the w sound

-The team draw more the pictures the the winner -Ss play in group, use the tablet to draw

-T give comment Activity 3(8mins)

- Show the students the watermelon phonics card Point to it and say: /w/ - watermelon Ask them to repeat

- Mime eating watermelon and say: /w/ - watermelon Encourage the students to the same

- Say the letter The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can)

- Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat the word

- Point to the picture and have students name them - Allow the students some time to colour in the

pictures of words start with the /w/ sound

- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help

Activity 4: Craftwork (10 mins)

- Ask the students to take out their notebooks

- Ask them to choose one word then draw the letter W and the picture of the item in their notebooks

- Tell them to decorate the letter and the picture - The first three students who finish will present their

letters and pictures to the class

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the w sound Say the w word

4 Consolidation: (2’)

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home
