UNIT 7: Letter Gg Lesson 3

I.Aims.

1/Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three Ff words correctly

-Recognize and say an extra Ff word correctly - Sing letter Ff song

Vocabulary -Fox, fish, frog Sight words

-My, funny, and, are, with

2 Skill: Listening, writing , speaking and reading. 3 Attitude.

- Educate Ss to be friendly with friends

- Students love animals and tree with the letter g - S:Le Ngoc Linh know the letter G

II.Teaching aids:

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

2.Warm up ( 5’) - Greet students

- Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and doing hand actions

- Ask the students with the sound cards to stand up one at a time and say the sounds on their cards

- Ask the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the students point to the pictures and say the words

- Write the names of three animals below the phonics card: Frank – glass, goat and garden

- Point to the glass and say: “Frank is a funny glass” The students repeat. - Ss: listen and repeat

- Ss: work individually and pairs

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song

- Play the CD The students listen and sing along

- Play the CD again The students sing and corresponding actions

Activity 6: Letter Writing Race (3mins) - Ask the students to open their notebooks - In minutes, the students write as many,

- The winner is the student who has written the most

I.Aims.

2.Warm up ( 5’)

- Greet students

-Review the previous lesson by playing the “Word chain game”

-Put phonics cards of the previous units on the board (e.g egg, elf, elephant, elbow, glass, goat, garden, …)

-Point to the student He/She says the first word in the sequence

-Point to another student He/She repeats the previous word, then says the next word in the sequence

-Continue with each student saying the next word in the sequence

e.g.: Student 1: egg

Student 2: egg, elf

-Ask the students to put their thumbs up if the picture starts with g sound and put their thumbs down if the picture does not start with g sound

* Activity (Track 46)

A Listen, point and repeat (5’)

-Show the students the gorilla phonics card Point to it and say: /g/ - gorilla Ask them to repeat

- Ss: look at the picture listen and repeat - Ss: work individually

-Perform the actions like a gorilla and say /g/, gorilla

-Encourage the students to the same -Say the letter and ask students the action -Play the CD

-Ask students listen, point to and repeat the word

- Ss: listen and point - Ss: work individually

b.Colour the pictures of the words that start with the g sound Say the g word (7’) -Point to pictures and have students name them

6 Circle the letters Gg Say the g sound

Activity 4: Craftwork (4’)

-Ask the students to take out their notebooks

-Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks -Tell them to colour the letter and the picture

- Ss: work individually

-The three first students who finish will show their picture to the class

OR

Activity 5: Whispers (3’)

-Line up the students into team of -Show the phonics cards to the first student in each group

- Ss: work in groups

-This student whispers the word to another behind him/her

-The student continues whispering the word until the final student

-The team which will win has the final student says the word same to the phonics card

4.Consolidation: (3’)

- T asks whole class to read the letter aloud Do the excersice 1,2,3
