I AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON 1 Language focus

III PROCEDURE

1 Class organization (1 minute)

2 Check – up (5 minutes) - Read and write down new words and phrases - Translate the reading passage into Vietnamese 3 New lesson (35 minutes)

STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1 Task 1

- Work in pairs, ask and answer the questions giant panda, rhino, tiger and elephant

2 Panda: bamboo forests Rhino: grassland Tiger: forest, grassland Elephant: forest

3,4 All of these animals

- Instructs Ss to answer the question

- Asks some pairs of Ss to talk about these animals and their habitats

2 Task 2

- Read the information in task 2, check understanding - Look at the example, study it

- Work in groups, each group takes responsibility to talk about one type of animals

+ Where live?

+ What is the population of in the world? + What is their height/ weight?

+ What kind of food they eat? + How long does their life span last?

+ Why does their numbers decline each year?

- Calls some groups of Ss to present their ideas

3 Task 3

- Work in groups, take turns to talk about these animals

Pandas live in bamboo forests in the mountains in central and western China Nowadays, they are endangered There are only 600 pandas left in the world Their weight is from 75 to 160 kg and they are from 1.2 to 1.5 metres high They like eating bamboo leaves and shoots Their life span lasts for about 20 to 30 years They decline in their number because of habitat destruction and illegal hunting

- Instructs Ss how to task

- Calls some groups to present their talk
