STEPS ACTIVITIES

Presentation (8’) -T introduces the context by asking students some questions  What is this man soing?

 When does he write parallel sentences?

 Can you tell me some other celebrations of our country and in some other countries?

-T explains the ne words  Passover(n)

Practice (15’) -T gives Ss some pre- listening questions

 How many celebrations are mentioned in the passage?  What are they?

-T plays the tape again and asks Ss the task (page 66 in textbook)

-Ss listen and complete the chart

Production (10’) -T has Ss use world nap to ask and answer about the time, activities, and special food of Lunar New Year, Passover and Easter

-T explains the structure briefly (Relative clause)

Homework (3’) -Ss write three sentences about the time, activities and special food which are used in the special occasions

(10’)

-T helps Ss to remember two celebrations “Tet” and “Easter” and the way how people celebrate these days

 Task

-T gives Ss the chart about two celebrations “Tet” and Easter Celebrations When? Activities Food Easter

Tet

-T asks Ss to complete the chart and corrects the mistakes if there are any

While- speaking (15’)

a/ T corrects the students’ mistake if there are any (reminding ss about the way to give respond to the teacher)

b/ T introduces the situations of the lesson by saying “In life, we should be polite to give responds to compliments”

-T explains expressions  Well done

-Ss work in groups and make a list of things people in western countries on some celebrations

Warm-up (10’) -T has ss “table completion”

Each group is given a piece of card containing 10 important celebrations in Vietnam and their dates, each card has two

columns: celebrations and dates Ss have to complete the table by filling either the date or the celebration The group with the

completed table in the shortest time will be the winner Pre- reading (7’) -T teaches the cocabulary

 groom (n): the man on his wedding day  hug (n): embrace

 considerate (a): thoughtful for others feeling and behaviors  generous (a): open- handed, free to give

Warm-up and pre- writing (5’)

-T introduces the lessons (using pictures) -T asks some questions to lead in the situation

-T introduces Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in some countries such as Australia, USA…

-T introduces the new lesson topic

-T has Ss sing the song “Mama I love you” (Spice girls) -Ss read the outline silently and then answer questions

 Relative clauses without comas are called “defining” or

“identifying clauses” They provide essential information about the subject or object

 Relative clauses with comas are called “non- defining clauses” They provide additional information, which can be omitted/ removed

-T tells Ss to exercise 1, join sentences, using relative clauses -T asks Ss to study the pictures in the book and use the relative clause to describe each of the people in the pictures, follow the examples in the book
