LESSON : A CLOSER LOOK (P 51 - 52 ) A OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use and practice “conditional sentences - type 1” correctly and appropriately

+ Vocabulary:

+ Grammar: Conditional sentences - type

- Skills: Practice and develop speaking, listening and writing skills

- Political thought and moral sense: educate students to love the subject more B TEACHING AIDS:

- Textbook, teacher’s book, lesson plan, board, chalks, cassette, CD record, pictures and the posters, computer,TV/projecter

C METHODS:

- Slap the board, gap-fill, matching, write-it-up, and complete the sentences D CONTENTS:

I Organization: (1 minute)

II Revision / warmer (5 minutes)

* Slap the board

-T models and writes the words on the board

- Ss chorus after T models one word

- T divides the class in to groups ( Ss for each group ) Gives names -> checks - T says out the words in Vietnamese

- The two Ss from two groups must run forward and slap the correct words - The Ss who slaps first is the winner

- Do the same with other Ss - T checks Ss’ understanding

- T controls , corrects and gives marks - T praises the winner

III New lesson: (37 minutes)

Step 1: Presentation (10 minutes)

- T reminds Ss to the dialogues between Nick and Mi in “Getting started” then T asks them to look at part p 51, listen again and pay attention to the conditional sentences - type ( If sentences )

- T models sentences from Ss then write on the board

- If we all use this kind of bag, we’ll help the environment - If more people cycle, there will be less air pollution - T models - Ss chorus then individually

- T checks forms, meanings, use and the intonation + Form:

If + S + V ( present simple), + S + will / won’t + V (base form) If - clause main clause

+ Meaning: Translate the model sentences into Vietnamese

+ Use: Conditional sentences - type describe a thing which is possible and likely to happen in the present or the future

+ Intonation:

- If we all use this kind of bag, we’ll help the environment - If more people cycle, there will be less air pollution

+ Note: When the main clause comes before if clause, there isn’t a comma between the two clause

Step 2: Practice (17 minutes)

* Activity 1: Gap - fill: ( Part p 52)

- T shows the poster which has the content of part p 52 then runs through - T gives the instructions: Write the correct form of each verbs in brackets - T models one: is, will plant

- T checks Ss’ understanding

- Ss individually then compare with their partners - T gets Ss’ answers then corrects

+ Answer key:

* Activity 2: Matching ( Part p 52 )

- Ss write individually in about minutes Then T asks them to share their ideas with their partners

- T gets some students’ writings then corrects

+ Possible answer:

1 If you walk to school, you’ll help reduce air pollution If you use used paper, you will save trees

5 If you want to save a lot of electricity, you will have to turn off all the lights before going out

- Skills: Practice and develop speaking skill

- Political thought and moral sense: educate students should try to be ‘greener’ and educate them to love the subject more

- Chatting, slap the board, survey, interview, group-working D CONTENTS:

- T asks Ss to hangs on the board the two posters that T asks them to prepare at home - T asks them to match the ‘if - clauses’ with the ‘main clauses’

- Then Ss can see and if they match or not and if there are any funny sentences

- T also reminds the use of ‘ Conditional sentences - type 1’ and questions to ask about frequency ( How often ?)

III New lesson: (37 minutes)

Step 1: Pre – speaking (12 minutes) * Vocabulary:

- breeze (n): gió thổi (translation) - recycle bin (n): thùng đựng rác tái chế (explanation) - wrap (v): gói, bọc (mime) - invite (v): mời (situation) - (to) a survey: làm khảo sát / điều tra (translation) - (to) be in need: có nhu cầu, cần thiết (translation) * Concept check: Slap the board.

- T calls on some students to report the results of their interview to the class - T and other students give comments

Step 3: Post – speaking (10 minutes) * Group - working

- T asks Ss to work in groups of five T gives each group a large piece of paper - T asks Ss to write down questions on this paper in about minutes

When time is up, Ss stick their questions on the board, read the questions out a loud - T also asks Ss for comments on the questions then give feedback on the questions Then T asks the class to vote for the best questions

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read for specific information about tips on how to be ‘green’ then talk about ways to go ‘green’

- Skills: Develop and practice reading and speaking skills

- Political thought and moral sense: educate students should follow some tips to be ‘green’ and educate them to love the subject more
