Unit 9- A first- aid course Lesson 4: READ (p.83- 84) A.Objectives:

1 Aims: - Help ss understand the content of the reading - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read for the instructions about some more situations requiring first – aid 2 Practice skill:

- Practice reading

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read and choose a correct case for each of the treatments + Advanced knowledge: Retell the things that they should in some cases that need first aid

4.Basic language:

Educate ss to learn hard, stay safe and know the ways to give first aid instructions in the home

- Ask Ss to give nouns for emergencies which require first – aid and write them on the board ( burn , cut , bee sting , snake bite , fainting , shock , nose bleed )

- Have Ss choose and words on the board and write them down on a piece of paper

III New lesson (37’)

Step 1.Pre – reading : Introduce the topic of reading passage and some new words to Ss

Pre – teach vocab:

- Leave the patient lying flat

- Elevate the patients, feet or lower his / her head

- Cool the burn immediately to minimize the tissue damage - Put the

A.Objectives:

1 Aims: - Help ss complete the thank-you note Nga sent to Hoa after she left the hospital and know how to write a thank-you note to a friend

- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know how to write a thank – you note inviting his/ her friend to go on a picnic

2 Practice skill: - Practice writing

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: write a thank-you note to a friend

+ Advanced knowledge: Write another letter to friend for other occasions

4.Basic language:

- disease, Get on together (v), (to) thank Sb for sth , cheer Sb up = to make Sb feel happier, come over (v), occasion(v), contact
