Lesson

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - practice the sound of the letter and the corresponding words - learn and practice reading skills

- sing a song

II.Vocabulary: hat, hen, hippo III Sight words: a, happy, my

IV Methods: Teacher-whole class, groups, individuals.

V Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the song VI Organization:

* Warm up (5’): where is the letter -Divide class into three groups,

-Deliver photocopies of pages from some story books for each group

-Pupils search and circle the letter Hh on these pages in minutes

-The winner is the group that circles the most Hh

* Presentation and Practice: 1 Listen Read along(10’)

-Point to the object hat, pupils read -Repeat with hen and hippo

-Play the CD, have pupils listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

-Play the CD again, pupils listen and look at their book and read along

-Individual read again

1 Listen Read along A hat!

-Give feedback

Activity : sight words (5mins)

-Point to and say the sight words: a, happy, my -Have pupils listen and repeat

-Call individuals repeat -Give feedback

2 Song (Track 51) (10 mins)

-Put the hat, hen and hippo phonics cards up on the board

-Point to the hippo with the hat and say: “a hippo with a hat” The students repeat

-Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song

-Play the CD The students listen and sing along -Play the CD again The pupils sing and corresponding actions

Activity: Which One Is Missing? Game (5 mins) -Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick them on the board

-Give the students a minute to look at the cards -Have students close their eyes and then you take away one cards

-Tell the students to open their eyes and name the missing cards

* Homework: Do exercise in the Activity book

Unit 8: Hh Lesson

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - practice the letter and the sound of Hh and the corresponding words II.Vocabulary: hat, hen, hippo

III Methods: Teacher-whole class, groups, individuals. IV Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards

* Warm up(5’): Guessing game

-Divide class into groups, each group select pupil to the front of the class, stand back to class

-Show the word for the other pupils

-Ask pupils to use gestures to describe the word -Who guesses correctly first will get point

-Which group gets the most points will be the winner

* Presentation and Practice(20’): 1 Say the words Match (8mins)

-Point to the letter H in hat and revise the sound -Point to the word and ask pupils to read them aloud -Point to the pictures and elicit their names

-Have the students match the words with appropriate pictures

-Give feedback

Activity: Thumbs Up or Down (5mins)

-show up the phonics cards and say the words -Ask the students to put their thumbs up if the teacher says correctly and put their thumbs down if the teacher says in correctly

2 Listen Point and repeat (Track 52) (7mins)

1 Say the words Match

-Show the students the horse phonics card Point to it and say: /h/ - horse Ask them to repeat.

-Mime trying to ride a horse and say: /h/ - horse Encourage the students to the same

-Point to the pictures, the students corresponding actions and say the words

-Divide the class intogroups of two

-The first student point to the pictures and the other student say the word then change the roles

Colour the pictures of the words that start the H sound

-Point to the pictures and have the students name them -Set the time for students to colour the pictures of the words that start with h sound

-Go around the class, provide necessary help * Production(10’): Hunt The Cards Game -Divide the class into two teams and -Hide the phonics cards around the classroom -Write the following for each team:

1: hat, hippo 2: hen, horse

-The students in each team have to ‘hunt’ for the phonics cards of their team

-Play the song (Track 51) from lesson

*Homework: Do exercise in the Activity book
