By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to make an arrangement on the phone 2 Practice skill:

- Practice speaking skill

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Make an arrangement on the phone about Ba and Bao + Advanced knowledge: Make an arrangement on the phone about themselves 4 Basic language:

+ Structures : - “ Can/ Could I speak/talk to …, please? - Hold on…

- Is 6.30 all right?

II Warm up( 2’)

*Telephone transmitting: - Divide ss into two groups

- Choose volunteers from each team

- The volunteers stand in two lines The teacher shows the first student ( in each line ) a telephone number - He / she whispers the telephone number to the next person in his / her line

- The second student whispers to the third until the last one

- The last student shouts out the number, if it is right, that group wins the match

A.Objectives:

1 Aims: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read and understand a passage about the invention of the telephone

2 Practice skill: - Practice reading skill

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read and check the boxes (exercise 1) and answer the questions (exercise 2)

+ Advanced knowledge: Answer some questions about Bell well 4 Basic language:

+ Vocabulary: emigrate (v); experiment (v; n); transmit (v) ; conduct (v); demonstrate (v); deaf- mute (n); a’ssistant (n); device (n) ; ,exhi’bition (n); countless (adj) + Structures: Past simple

-Ss guess the words ->read (chorus-individually) anwer the t’s questions about the word->copydown

- Have students repeat the words in chorus then rub out word by word but leave the circles Remember to let students repeat before and after rubbing out each word

- Go on until students can remember the words

- Get students to write the words again in the correct circles

T shows the poster of T/F statements on the board and ask students to work in pairs and guess which statements are true and which are false

- Get students to read the events of Bell's life and put them in the correct order

Writing it up:

- T gets students to write a paragraph about Bell's life, using the information from the text

- T lets them swap their writings and correct
