A OBJECTIVES:

- Knowledge:

By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:

- use descriptive adjectives to describe people

- Listen to dialogues about introducing oneself and getting acquainted and fill the information in the blanks

+ Vocabulary: slim(adj); curly(adj) ; bald(adj); blond(adj) = fair(adj); dark(adj)= black(adj)

+ Structures : - It’s a pleasure to meet you.( listening) - I’d like you to meet…( listening) - Skills :

+ Speaking : listening and speaking

+ Listening : Listen to the conversation and fill the information in the blanks - Attitude: Students take part in the lesson strictly, actively.

Brainstorming

- Ask Ss to think of the adjectives used to describe body build and hair

- T introduce the new words through the game * Possible answers :

Build: fat tall short slim overweight slender

Hair: black / dark /blond/ fair/ brown/ grey straight long bald curly

III New lesson: Activity 1: Speaking 1 New words (8’)

slim(adj) mảnh dẻ, mảnh curly(adj) : xoăn (tóc)

bald (adj) hói (đầu)

Students’ activities

Two groups play on the stage

Think of the adjectives that use to describe body build and hair:

thin curly

Guess the meaning of the new words repeat the new words in chorus copy

blond(adj) : vàng hoe

fair (a): trắng (da), vàng nhạt (tóc) *check ss have understood, using W-W * Presentation dialogue

T Shows Ss a picture of Mary and ask some questions:

+ What does Mary look like? + What color is her hair? + Is her hair long or short? - T introduces the models

2 Model sentence

She is short and thin She has long blond hair *Form:

S+ be+ adj

S+ have/has+ adj+ hair

+ Use : to describe body build and hair + Meaning : T asks Ss to translate into vietnamese

+ Pronunciation : T checks the intonation This person is short and thin She has long black hair

3 Practice (14’)

Word cue drill

- Prepare cards so that ss can drill easily - Model two cues then ask ss to repeat

chorally then individually - T call Ss to read their complete sentences aloud

- Ss practice speaking in front of class - Correct and give feedback a he / tall / thin b she / short / slim

- Ask Ss to look at six people in their books - Call on a student to describe one person, the others have to guess who he / she is

* Example :

S1 : This person is short and thin She has long blond hair

S2 : Is this Mary ?  Yes

- Go on until six people on the poster are described

- Asks Ss to work in groups to describe their classmates

B: Does she have blond hair? A; No, she doesn’t

Activity 2: Listening (14’) 1 Pre-listening

- Teacher asks students” How people greet one another when they first meet?”

–How are you? -How you do? -Hello

-Nice to meet you

-It’s a pleasure to meet you

- Ask Ss to look at the expressions in the box and make sure they know their meanings - T get Ss guess and complete four dialogues , using the given expressions

- T have Ss read their predictions and write them on the board

2.While-listening

- Let Ss listen to the tape twice

- Get Ss to work in pairs to complete the dialogues and compare with their predictions - Call on some pairs to demonstrate the dialogues in front of class

- Correct and give feedback

3 Post-listening

- Call on some Ss to play roles of Nam – Hoa – Thu / Khai – Mrs Lien – Mrs Vi / Ba – Bao – Grandmother / Mr Lam – Mrs Linh – Mr Thanh and practice the dialogues

-T correct their pronunciation

Nam : hello, Hoa

Hoa: hello, Nam Who …she?

Nam: Oh,sorry! This…Thu She’s a new sudent

Thu: Hi, Hoa ……… you

Hoa: Nice to meet you, too! What class …you in?

Thu: I’m… Hoa: Oh, so…

Ss look at the expressions in the box and read them aloud

- Ss guess the complete expressions in the dialogues

Listen and check

What is the main content of the lesson?

- Ask Ss to summarise the main points that they’ve just studied in the lesson
