The Accord SRS includes a driver’s airbag in the steering wheel hub, a passenger’s airbag in the dashboard above theglove box, seat belt tensioners in the front seat belt retractors, seat belt outer lap tensioners in the front seat belt loweranchor, side curtain airbags in the sides of the roof, and side airbags in the front seat-backs Information necessary tosafely service the SRS is included in this Shop Manual Items marked with an asterisk ( ) on the contents pageinclude or are located near SRS components Servicing, disassembling, or replacing these items requires specialprecautions and tools, and should be done by an authorized Honda dealer
• To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could lead to personal injury or death in the event of a severe frontal
or side collision, all SRS service work should be done by an authorized Honda dealer
• Improper service procedures, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, could lead to personal injurycaused by unintentional deployment of the airbags, side airbags, and/or side curtain airbags
• Do not bump or impact the SRS unit, front impact sensors, or side impact sensors, or rear safing sensor when theignition switch is ON (II), or for at least 3 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to LOCK (0); otherwise, thesystem may fail in a collision, or the airbags may deploy
• SRS electrical connectors are identified by yellow color coding Related components are located in the steeringcolumn, front console, dashboard, dashboard lower panel, in the dashboard above the glove box, in the front seats,
in the roof side, and around the floor Do not use electrical test equipment on these circuits

• Make sure the door key cylinder/door locksoperate properly
• Make sure the door handle works properly

9 Disconnect the latch cable (A) and the inner handlecable (B) from the latch (C), and remove the spongeseals (D, E)
10 Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, andnote these items:
• Before reinstalling the cables to the latch (A),clean the latch surface where the new spongeseals will be attached with isopropyl alcohol, andattach the new sponge seals (B, C) to the latch asshown
• After reinstalling the latch cable (D) and the outerhandle cable (E) to the latch, attach the newsponge seal (F) to the cable connecting portions
on the latch as shown
• Before reinstalling the latch protector (G), replacethe inside sponge seal (H) and the outsidesponge seal (I) with new ones:
– Scrape off the old sponge seals from theprotector, and clean the protector surfaces withisopropyl alcohol
– Attach the new inside sponge seal to the insideface of the protector as shown
– After reinstalling the latch protector to the latch,attach the new outside sponge seal to theprotector and the latch as shown
• Make sure that the actuator connector is plugged
in properly, and that the cylinder cable and theouter handle rod are connected securely
• Make sure the door locks and opens properly
• When reinstalling the door panel, make sure theplastic cover is installed properly and sealedaround its outside perimeter to seal out water

10 Install the glass and regulator in the reverse order
of removal, and note these items:
• Roll the glass up and down to see if it movesfreely without binding
• Make sure that there is no clearance between theglass and glass run channel when the glass isclosed
• Adjust the position of the glass as necessary(see page 20-50)
• Do the power window control unit resetprocedure (see page 22-310)
• When reinstalling the door panel, make sure theplastic cover is installed properly and sealedaround its outside perimeter to seal out water
• Check for water leaks (see step 8 on page 20-51)
• Test-drive and check for wind noise and rattles
• Make sure the power door locks, windows andpower mirror operate properly

–1 Detach the clip fastening the trim
–2 Pull back along the outside edge of the trim torelease the hook strip (B) from the door glassopening flange at the front pillar portion andthe roof portion of the door sash
–3 Release the hook (C) from the glass runchannel (D) at the rear corner portion of thedoor sash

–5 Release the rear hook (F) from the door
4 Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, andnote these items:

7 Before installing the door glass outer weatherstrip,align the clips of the weatherstrip to the flangeswhere the clips should be engaged by sliding them

2 Using a clip remover, detach the clip, then pull backthe door weatherstrip (A), and remove the screw
3 While removing the upper edge of the door outermolding (A) from the edge of the sash, cut thedouble-sided adhesive tape (B) with a utility knife,then remove the molding from the sash, andremove the molding from between the door glassouter weatherstrip (C) and the door
4 Scrape off the remaining double-sided adhesivetape from the sash, then clean the sash surfacewith a sponge dampened in isopropyl alcohol
5 Install the new door outer molding in the reverseorder of removal, and note these items:
• Insert the front edge of the molding between thedoor glass outer weatherstrip and the doorproperly
• Push the adhesive portions into place securely
• Make sure the upper and lower sides of themolding are catching the edges of the sashproperly
• Push the door weatherstrip clip into placesecurely

• If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened,replace them with new ones
• Make sure the weatherstrip is installed in theholder securely
• Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to thedoor checker mounting bolt before installation

1 Raise the glass fully
2 Push on the bottom of the inner handle cap (A)while pushing on the upper hook (B) with theappropriate trim tool, then pull back the cap toremove it
3 Remove the screws securing the inner handle (A)
4 Pry up the notch (A) of the lid (B), then pull back thelid, and remove the screw
5 Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending aspossible to avoid creasing or breaking it
–1 Start at the bottom edge of the door panel,release the clips with a commercially availabletrim pad remover
–2 Detach the upper clips
–3 Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward
NOTE: The inner handle cable (B) and latchcable (C) are connected to the inner handle (D)
Do not pull the door panel up too far, or thesecables will be damaged

6 While holding the door panel (A) away from thedoor, remove the inner handle (B) from the doorpanel by releasing the hooks (C)
7 Remove the door panel (A) while pulling the innerhandle (B) out through the hole in the door panel
While holding the door panel away from the door,disconnect the power window switch connector (C)
8 Disconnect the inner handle cable (A) and the latchcable (B) from the inner handle (C), then removethe handle
–1 Detach the inner handle cable fasteners (D, E),then disconnect the inner handle cable fromthe cable fasteners
–2 Detach the latch cable fastener (F), and removethe latch cable fastener (G) from the innerhandle by pinching its tabs out
NOTE: Check if the cable fasteners aredamaged or stress-whitened
9 Remove the power window switch panel (A) fromthe door panel (B)
–1 Detach the rear clip
–2 Pull out along the edge of the panel to releaseall of the hooks (C)
–3 Pull the switch panel rearward to release thefront hook (D)
