The problem was that other people did not want the whale to be killed. They told the Native Americans that the whales should be left alone. Many people were upset. During a celebration, guards were asked to protect the Native Americans. There were no problems. One Native American felt good about that he just wanted to enjoy his celebration. The Native Americans wanted to do what their ancestors had done for many years. They want to teach their children about their past. They think that it helps the group to stay together. Other people are afraid to let the Native Americans kill the whales. They think that if too many people start killing the whales, then there will be soon no more whales . . . AIMS: -Ss can speak about kinds of music they like best, the reason why they like them, the time when they listen to them, the bands/ the singers they like best. -Ss can compare their hobby with their friends. II. TEACHING AIDS : a poster of the Backstreet Boys, a card board for task 2 III. METHOD : Communicative approach . IV. PROCEDURE : Teacher’s and students’ activities contents WARM –UP: (5ms) -Sts close their books . -T lets Ss listen to a piece of music sung by the Backstreet Boys, then asks Ss some questions: 1/ What song is it? 2/ Who sings this song? 3/ Do you like this boy band? - T shows the poster of this band to introduce the new lesson. PRE-SPEAKING: (8ms) - T explains the new words, structures and expressions for Ss to interchange in pairs. -Ss study them by learning their meanings and repeating after T. WHILE SPEAKING: Task1: (10ms) - Ss open their books and read carefully the passage in silent by following the cassette player. - Ss practice in pairs to ask and answer about Ha Anh’s habit of listening to music. - T walks round to help and check. (if any ) - T asks some pairs to ask and answer in front of the class. POST-SPEAKING: Task 3: -T writes the example on the board and explain the way to do this task, remember to emphasize the words “ both…and…” and “but” - Ss work in groups of 6 : Among them there are 3 who have already worked together in task 2, in new groups they tell again about the 2 Ss of their last groups( each group need a secretary). -T walks round to help them or gives the meanings of new words. (if any ) -T asks one S of each group to report to the class what his group has discussed. -T corrects these reports in front of the class. Suggested keys of task 2: HOMEWORK: (2ms) - Learn by heart new words. - Write a short paragraph about 50 words about their habit of listening to music. - Prepare “Listening”.
