Water Quality Recommendations The following table includes generalwater quality recommendations to maximize the life of the valves, regulators, and pressure cylinder on Agr water-based testing products These are only general guidelines for water quality Water chemistry is complex and the limits can be interrelated WATER QUALITY Property Limit Water Temperature Under 140°F (60°C) Hardness Less than 180 ppm as CaCO3 Total Dissolved Solids Less than 290 ppm Particulates Under 100 microns pH 6.5 – 8.5 Additional Recommendations: • High temperature can affect the lifetime of the pressure cylinder seal and valve seats The device should be connected to cold water only and the plumbing should be routed to avoid hot areas • “Hard water” contains a high level of dissolved solids These minerals, especially calcium carbonate, can lead to scale build up over time Scale can directly affect the performance of the cylinder and valves, or it can flake off the inside of the plumbing and block orifices or cause leaks on valve seats A domestic or commercial ion exchange water softener can be used to treat the water • Particulates can cause valves to clog or leak Certain abrasive particulates may also cause wear of the cylinder piston seal or valve seats The supplied water filter used in the filters any particulates greater than microns in size It will also filter any flakes of scale from the plumbing that supplies the device It is important to keep the water filter in place and change it periodically In situations with severe particulates, a pre-filter may be used to extend the life of the filter element • Excessively high or low water pH can have an effect on the seals, valve seats, and some metals used in the components of the device If you have concerns about your local water quality, or experience a reduced lifetime of components, AGR recommends that you contact a reputable water conditioning company in your area Local companies are often familiar with problems unique to the water chemistry in your area and can perform tests to determine the cause of those problems and may be able to suggest specific solutions for filtering your water "This document contains information proprietary to AGR International Inc., Butler, PA, U.S.A It is to be submitted in confidence and it is to be used solely for the purpose for which it is furnished and returned immediately upon request or completion of use This document and the information contained therein shall not be used to the disadvantage of AGR International Inc., and such information is not to be reproduced, transmitted, disclosed, or used in whole or in part, without the written authorization of AGR International, Inc."
