1/ Warm up? (3p)

- How are you today?

Chatting : Do you have any penpal?

Where does she/he live?

Has she ever visited your house?

What activities would you do during the visit?

2/ Preteach vocabulary (8p)

1/ Warm up? (5p) Jumble words

- Ask ss from two teams to go to the board and write down the correct words

- The team which is faster with more correct words wins the game

2/ Pre listening (8p)

Set the scene : “Jim is Jones’s Mexican penpal, Carlo is visiting the USA”

- Ask ss to look at the picture and tell the class what there is in each one, where the place is, what the people are doing

* Open prediction

Tell ss what Tim is talking Carlo to visit some places Ask them to think of three things that Tim and Carlos are doing

eg : They are going to the park

T.plays the tape Ask ss to listen and check their guesses

* The past simple (10p)

Set the scence : This is the conversation between Tan and Phong They are talking about what Ba did on the weekend

T.reads Ss point to the convresation and listen

Practice reading ( follow steps)

Tan: What did Ba do on the weekend?

Phong: He went to see the movie called “Ghosts and Monsters” ( Ma quỷ

và quái vật)

Tan: When did he see it?

Phong: He saw it on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock

Form:

S + Vqk( V- ed ; V2)

Meaning : đã

Pairwork: Ask ss to work in pairs to ask and answer question about what Nga, Lan, Nam, Hoa and ba do on the weekend.( use the table on page 11-ex1;ex2/11)

- Set the scence: “Lan and her friends are holding a farewell party for Maryam Write the things they did to prepare for the party”

- Ask ss to use the words in the box and the pictures

eg: Lan bought flowers

* The past simple with wish.(10p)

- Ask ss to look at the picture and answer thr questions

What does he have in his mind? – “I wish I wewe taller”

- What tense was used in the clause after wish?

 Wish is used when we want really to be different and exactly opposite

of the truth, eg : expresses wishes in the present

 Form: I wish + S + Vqk

- Ask students to look at the real situations and make wishes
