In essence, traveling is the movement of the human so it is very important to set

up or prepare a best mean of transport in tourism All of the tourists hope that they will have comfortable and safe means of transport in their journey

In Hanoi, the traffic is always crowded, means of transport are various Means as bus, taxi, car, train, plane, cyclo, bike, motorbike…are available Motorbike is the most popular; there is a huge number of a motorbike in Hanoi streets This is a difference between the traffic in Hanoi and the traffic in other capital city in the world

This is an assignment for the course 4B In this time, we will work in a small group of four or five members We must collect and analyze the information of means of transport available in Hanoi or from Hanoi to some of the most favorite tourist destinations Then we have to write a report on researches and experiences

we got by collecting the information Task of group is different and it is assigned

by the teacher Our group must research the information of means of transportation from Hanoi to Dalat

Dalat is a beautiful city and wonderful destination for most of domestic and foreign tourists Dalat has not only many beautiful sights but also pleasant climate

It is cool all year The distance from Hanoi to Dalat is about 968 km and we can

go to Dalat by car, train, or airplane Maybe, nowadays airplane is the most popular So we decided to focus on researching the information of airplane from Hanoi to Dalat

After collecting and researching the information of means of transport from Hanoi

to Dalat, we had some knowledge and experience about transportation from Hanoi

to Dalat We think it is able to be helpful for all tourists to have a comfortable time

II, BODY

II.1 History

The airlines from Hanoi to Dalat start in Noi Bai international airport and finish at Lien Khuong airport

Lien Khuong airport is one of the first airports in Vietnam It was built by the French colonists in 1933 with a 700-meter-long soil runway From 1956 - 1960 American armies reconstructed and upgraded Lien Khuong Airport with rather completed facilities is not the infrastructure is quite complete, the terminal was designed in French architecture with three stories But at this time, there were no plane to Hanoi or from Hanoi to Dalat

From 1975, after the liberation of the south of Vietnam, there were several flights from the Hanoi to Dalat, but with the economical purpose because people did not have the habit of using the plane as a means of transportation to travel when the life was not prosperous enough

It must be until 2003, Vietnam government accepted The Vietnam National Airline (Vietnam Airline) to improve the Lien Khuong airport as well as open a new line from Dalat to Hanoi and from Hanoi to Dalat At 9:10, in October 29th

2004, the first Fokker 70 of Vietnam airline has taken off at the Lien Khuong airport in Dalat, and flied to Hanoi

II.2 Its development (changes in quantity and quality)

It was so difficult to find a flight from Hanoi to Dalat during the time from 1975 to

2003 The flights were just to serve the politicians or business men However, after

the new line of Vietnam Airline was opened, there are more and more flights from Hanoi to Dalat and more people in Hanoi choose the plane to travel to Dalat

In October of 2004, there were only 3 flights per week In June 2005, there were 4 flights per a week Nowadays, the passengers can fly everyday from Hanoi to Dalat or Dalat to Hanoi Also nowadays, this line has been always used with 97%

- 98% of its power, which show that it is one of the most effective air lines of Vietnam Airlines

At first, there were only about 300 passengers per week used plane to go to Dalat from Hanoi and the about 300 passengers flied from Dalat to Hanoi Nowadays, more than 2700 people choose flights for one way of Hanoi – Dalat‘s air way The local government decided to widen the airline in Dalat to become an internal airport Thus, by 2025, there will be about 2500000 passengers fly to Dalat, and half of them from Hanoi That must be an effective air line

There are many changes in the size and kind of the plane that Vietnam airline use

in this line Firstly, they just have the small and medium planes like ATR72 and Fokker70, and there are only 5 planes In March 2006, the bigger planes such as Boeing767, A320 and A321 were first used

In 5 rest aviation service companies, VietJetAir and Air Speed Up have just established in 2008, they started offering popular flights in late 2008, exclude Hanoi to Dalat Vasco was established in 1987, mostly offers flights in Southern area Pacific Airlines (established in 1991) or Jetstar Airways (established in 2007,

a brand of Pacific Airlines) tends to harness route from Hanoi to Dalat in the near future

II.3 Operation

As we research, in the old day, only Vietnam Airlines can serve passenger in this route but at the moment, with the appearances of many new aviation like VietJetair or Pacific airline However, besides the personal planes which rent the airport to take off, there is only Vietnam Airlines services public transportation Here are some kinds of plane:

Vietnam Airlines is directly under Vietnam Residential Aviation Department, headquarter is in Hanoi It has total 67 aircrafts, included:

+ Airbus A320 – 200 (quantity: 10)

+Airbus A321-231(quantity: 20)

+ Airbus A321 – 200 (quantity: 15)

+ Boeing 777 – 200 ER (quantity: 10)

+ ATR 72 – 202 (quantity: 6)

+ ATR 72 – 500 (quantity: 4)

+ Fokker 70 (quantity: 2)

The plane was bought from USA and England so the quality is really good The aviators in the old day were trained in France but at the moment, they can be trained in Vietnam but their skill and quality is getting higher and higher

There is no aircraft manufacture factory in Vietnam General Electric Corporation supply Boeing with aircraft engine and Boeing captures 35% of Vietnam reseller market

Since July 1998, Vietnam Airlines has repaired and warranted itself Airbus A321, ATR 72, Fokker and Boeing since 1999

On this specific route, Vietnam Airline seems taking more than 90% of market However, in the future, this may reduce to 60 or 70%, when there are more airline companies opening new line on this route

II.4 Special characteristics (important role in tourism, etc…)

Traveling by air becomes more and more popular in the world and in Vietnam as well It connects the destinations by the shortest way Therefore, it is very fast and convenient; we can enjoy many interesting things in the plane For example, we can see the view under the aircraft, have a perfect service and avoid getting tired

on the way

It helps everyone becomes more and more comfortable when traveling The relationship is improved, the customer have much time to discovery In general, it

is regard as the best means for tourists

But, sometimes, it makes some trouble with passages Until this time, it is also the expensive and luxury vehicle Not too many people choose it because of its price (over ten times than other means) The

procedure in airline is little complex and it takes

a long time to wait Getting stuck in airline is

not unusual Despite of those, I think plane is

also the choice of almost travelers

II.5 Advice for passengers (price, where to go, how to go…)

Vietnam Airlines is the only airline with flights between Hanoi and Da Lat with a flight every day However, the airline has added flights in high season and holidays Time and flight schedules can change Please search specific dates for each flight Single fare for economy class flights from Hanoi to Da Lat on Vietnam Airlines is 1,720,000 VND (or ~

$ 108 USD).As the number of tickets for each trip is limited, you should book in advance

When traveling by aircraft I think you should prepare many things:

Documentation of procedures: Always carry at least two types identification with

photo and be valid as identity card, passport, driver's license away Attend two hours before the airport for general domestic and international flights

Luggage: Luggage Compact, only bearing the messages really necessary, and

make sure that they are been labeled full name For passports, identity cards, important documents, personal hygiene, cameras, jewelry in hand luggage, not carry things with sharp metal

Child fare:

 Children (2 to 12 years of age) and infants (under 2 years of age) with booked seat: 75% of adult rate

 Infants (under 2 years of age) without seat: 10% of adult rate

 Children from 12 up: 100% of adult rate

II.6 Brief of some typical feature of that place

Dalat is known as the city of

love and flower The climate

is ideal for everyone with

many impressing sightseeing:

Tho Lake, Camry fall, Love

valley etc…

III CONCLUSION

Our group researched on means of transports from Hanoi to Dalat city (Lam Dong province) This is a long route, from the north to the beginning of the south There are three ways to go from Hanoi to Dalat: Railway, Road and Airway The best choice that many travel companies select is airplane, because if they use railway or road, they will lose a long time about one day and one night, the travelers will easily feel tired and unpleasant Meanwhile using airplane, we will save much time to come Dalat To day airplane is not a luxurious vehicle for only rich people,

it is popular because of suitable price and the attractive promotion

The distance from Lien Khuong airport to Dalat city about 28km so it is very convenient to travelers There are also many airlines in Vietnam with good quality

as Vietnam airline, Jet star, Asiana airlines so the people can have many choices

With a research on means of transportation, we have more knowledge about the means of transport, the route and even the attractive tourist destinations, which can help us a lot in the future job

IV RECOMMENDATION

This assignment is about means of transport This subject is very interesting because it is one of the three requirements of basic tourism in Vietnam The essence of tourism is the movement of the travelers, so in tourism, the first we have to care is the means our guests use for transportation Nowadays the picture

of Vietnam’s people and country is being introduced wide on all over the world The domestic and foreign visitors when they want to visit one landscape in Hanoi

or Vietnam so this is one of the most important things we should care

This is also another good occasion for us to learn and research means of transports

in Hanoi, and look for inadequate things and bring out suggestions to improve, the service for tourist After that, our group has several suggestions for transports in Hanoi as well:

- The frequent control, repair, service the transports so that they are always safe

- Vehicles which are too old are not allowed in the streets, we should use vehicles which are friendly with environment, such as: electric transports, underground

- Repair and construct new routes are downgrade to transports circulate convenient

- Talk about Hanoi, we can not talk about Red river, it brought for traces that became famous landscape for Hanoi Red river is a big and long river, goes across many provinces and contiguous different rivers But Hanoi has not exploited potentiality of this river Therefore, Hanoi should pay attention to develop this potentiality in tourism
