allows you to search or navigate for the MISUMI part that meets your needs, and then place it into your design with the click of a button This document will assist you become familiar with this digital catalog In order to utilize the MISUMI 3D CAD Library, the following requirements must be met: Operating Systems Supported: Microsoft® Windows® NT Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Microsoft® Windows® the MISUMI 3D CAD Library or any other assistance with MISUMI products Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® PARTDATAMANAGER USER INTERFACE OVERVIEW The PARTdataManager application is a user interface to allow for the search, display and export of components in the MISUMI 3D CAD Library Like many software applications, the application can be run either from pulldown menus, or via icons in the user interface The user interface icons documented below are utilized when running the MISUMI 3D CAD Library Part Selection View Search 2.1 2D View Exploded View Part View Export to CAD S e a rc h Selecting the “Search” icon reveals the search window shown below, which is utilized to perform a variety of searches within PARTdataManager In the example shown below, the keyword “guides” is used to find matches in the MISUMI 3D CAD Library Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 2.2 Part Selection Selecting the “Part Selection” icon will display the MISUMI 3D CAD Library part selection window The windows are automatically tiled in the space available in the main window This icon is a convenient way to return to part selection after having configured a MISUMI product 2.3 P a rt V i e w The “Part View” icon provides the view of a selected part in the MISUMI 3D CAD Library, as shown below Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 2.4 D V ie w The “2D View” icon provides 2D view options as shown below Simply select the preferred view and it is calculated and displayed 2.5 Exploded View The “Exploded View” option allows assemblies to be exploded upon an axis Note that exploded views are for viewing purposes only and not depict assembly ordering Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® Once the catalog is open, the hierarchy may be navigated in the left hand window which is a “Windows Explorer” like menu structure, or in the right hand window which shows the MISUMI products in a “Symbols” or “Details” display Navigate through the product folders via double-clicks or via right-click “open” Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 11 Once you have located a part or assembly with the part icon, double-click or right-click “open” to enter the “Part View” mode, which appears as follows: Fields that appear with a yellow background are configurable Simply click on the numeric value to display alternative values, or to display the range of acceptable values Once you have selected and/or configured your MISUMI product, use the export functions described above in section 2.6 “Export to CAD” to access your MISUMI product in your CAD system application Detailed examples for accessing MISUMI products in Autodesk® CAD products are included in Section of this document Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 12 ACCESSING DATA WITHIN AUTODESK® CAD APPLICATIONS This section describes the process of exporting MISUMI products into your Autodesk Inventor®, AutoCAD® and Mechanical Desktop® CAD sessions Please refer to the Quick Start Tutorial for an example of configuring and accessing a MISUMI part in Autodesk Inventor® In some cases, you may prefer to use the macro option For example, if you not have a copy of Autodesk Inventor® on your computer and you need to export a part in Autodesk Inventor® format, the macro option is the best choice Using neutral data formats will also work, but will result in a basic representation of the part (i.e not as if it was created in Autodesk Inventor®) 5.1 Autodesk Inventor® “Inventor 3D” Example The “Export to CAD” icons and the Export / File command from the menu bar provide options for exporting your MISUMI part or assembly to Autodesk® CAD applications as well as several other CAD applications and neutral CAD formats Menu Bar Icons To export directly to Autodesk Inventor®, configure your MISUMI product and then select the “Inventor 3D” option Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 13 Enter destination folder: IMPORTANT: If Autodesk Inventor® is active, the part will appear on the screen, and the part will be saved in a “MISUMI” folder within the “Destination Directory” specfied If Autodesk Inventor® is not active, then the part will be created in the same folder, but will not appear on the screen The MISUMI Part or Assembly is built in Autodesk Inventor® Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 14 5.2 Autodesk Inventor “Inventor Macro 3D” Example Configure your MISUMI product and then use the Export menu or CAD Export icon and select “Inventor Macro 3D” Enter Destination File: Within Autodesk Inventor®, select the “Tools, Macro, Visual Basic Editor” option: Using the MISUMI 3D CAD Library – Powered by PARTsolutions® 15 Within the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor select “File, Import File” and locate the file specified in Step # above Select “DocumentProject” in the Project Explorer Window Select “Run,
