Warm up: (10 minutes) - Invite Ss to join an exciting game: Guessing Game. - Read in turn 4 short profile of 4 singers and composers or musicians and ask Ss to guess who they are. T can provide more details if Ss can’t give out the answers. Mỹ Tâm: + she was born in Da Nang in 1981. She is a Vietnamese pop singer who archieved fame with such significant songs as “Duong Nhu Ta Da”, “Uoc Gi”, “Niem Tin Chien Thang”. + Show a picture of My Tam. + Play a song of My Tam: Ước Gì. Trịnh Công Sơn: + He was a famous Vienamese composer, musician and songwriter. He wrote such famous song as “Bien Nho”, “Diem Xua”, “Mot Coi Di Ve” + Show a picture of Trinh Công Sơn. + Play a song of Trịnh Công Sơn: Mot Coi Di Ve Michael Jackson: He was an American singer and dancer - referred as the King of Pop. Activity 2: (8 minutes) - Ask Ss to review the tense of verb using to write a profile. + Use the verbs in the simple past tense: S + V ed /V 2 … - Review the prepositions and conjunctions using to write a profile if necessary. * in + year (in 1980) * on + day/month/year (on November 15, 1923). * be born + in + place (be born in Dalat). * Conjunctions: All in all, after that, and, etc. Activity 3 (20 minutes): - Ask students to open the textbook and turn on page 129, Task1. - Ask Ss to works in pairs, read carefully Task 1 and follow the instruction. - Go around the class to help if Ss need. - Call some Ss to read aloud the answer. - Correct the pronunciation mistakes and give feedback. - Work individually. - Look at the extra board, read carefully and put the correct word in column B to the sentence in column A. - Ask T when having some new words. - Raise hand and speak aloud the answers. While-writing: 2 Activity 1: (5 minutes) - Ask Ss to open the text book and turn on page 129, Task 2. - Have Ss find out which verbs or preposition using to write Van Cao’s profile. - Prompt if Ss can’t give the answer. - Ask Ss to pay attention to the tense of verbs again. Activity 2: (20 minutes). - Provide a prompt like Task 1 for student to write easily. - Divide the class to some groups of 3 or 4 Ss, each group has an extra board and a pen brush. - Give Ss 10 minutes to write the life story Van Cao into the extra board. - Go around the class to help Ss if necessary. - After 10 minutes, ask each group change the extra board with other groups to repair together by pencil in 5 minutes. - Collect all extra boards and glue them onto the board. - Ask Ss to look at the extra boards and correct all mistakes of spelling and grammar.
