REPORTED SPEECH WITH “TO-INFINITIVE” 1)In order to report “orders, requests, warnings, advice, and invitation”, we use the structure: S + ASKED / TOLD + O + (NOT) TO-INFINITIVE ORDERED / REQUESTED / ADVISED / INVITED / WARNED / … Examples: a- “Get out of my room,” she said. => She told me to get out of her room. b- “Could you carry some bags, Mike?” => I asked Mike to carry some bags. c- “Would you like to have dinner with us? => They invited me to have dinner with them. 2) We often report “offers, promises, and threats” by using the structure.
