Aim. - At the end of the lesson, pupils can: retell all activities that happened in the past (At the dentist's office) II. Contents: 1) Vocabulary: New words about health and hygiene. 2) Grammar: Simple present. III. Teaching aids: - Planning lesson, teacher's and student's books. - A color pictures about the dialogue; sub - board. IV. Procedure: Activities Contents 1. Warm up: (5’) a. Check the old lesson: - Gets 2 pupils to go to the board and do exercise 1 (63 in work book) - Teacher checks and gives mark. b. Warmer: - Guide pupils to play a game named: Hangman. 2. Presentation: (5’) - Teacher introduces: You are going to listen to the tape about Dr. Lai, the woman Hoa mentioned in the conversation and answer the questions. - Teacher reads all the questions once and explains. - Get pupils to guess the answer. 3. Practice: (30’) - Teacher plays the tape once and explains some words. - Let pupils listen again three times and answer the questions. - Get them to compare the answer with each other. - Get pupils to give the answer. - Teacher plays the tape again once to corrects, and writes the answer on board. * Tape transcription: Dr. Lai is a dentist 1. Dr. Lai is a dentist. at Quang Trung school. She looks after all the students' teeth. Dr. Lai's office is clean and so is her uniform. She always washes her hands after each child leaves. Many children are scared when they come to see Dr. Lai, but she is a kind woman. She explains what will happen so they are not afraid. Dr. Lai gives the children advice. She tells them how to clean their teeth regularly and eat sensibly. - Teacher introduces: You learned about Minh and doctor Lai. As you know, Minh has a toothache and has to go to the dentist. You will read the passage describing the meeting between Minh and Dr. Lai. - Then teacher reads the text once first. - Teacher introduces some new words. - Guides pupils to get the use and meaning of them. - Teacher reads new words once first. - Guide pupils to read new words twice or more. - Get pupils to read new words in silence. - Gets one by one to read new words loudly. - Check pupils' reading. - Teacher reads the text once. - Guide pupils to read. - Get pupils to read the text in individuation in silence. - Call some pupils to read the text. - Get them to read the text again and translate it in to Vietnamese. - Get them to compare their translation with each other. - Call some pairs to translate the text before class. - Teacher corrects. - Get pupils to reread part B3, work in groups to complete the story. - Get them to compare the answer with each other. - Get pupils to give the answer. - Teacher corrects. 4. Consolidation: (4’) - Repeat the main content of the lesson. b. She wears uniform to work. c. Most of children feel scared when they come to see Dr. Lai. d. She explains what will happen. She gives them advice. She tells them how to look after their teeth and remind them to clean their teeth regularly and eat sensibly. 2. Because II. Contents: 1) Vocabulary: New words about health and hygiene. 2) Grammar: Why ? Because III. Teaching aids: - Planning lesson, teacher's and student's books. - A color pictures about the dialogue; sub - board. IV. Procedure: Activities Contents 1. Warm up: (5’) a. Check the old lesson: - Gets 2 pupils to go to the board. - Teacher checks and gives mark. b. Warmer: - Get pupils to retell what happened to Minh. 2. Presentation: (10’) - Get pupils to look at part B4 and teacher introduces. - Teacher reads the example first. - Explaining. - Guide pupils to use question with "Why ? Because " 3. Practice: (25’) - Teacher reads all provided words in sentences and guides them to do. - Get pupils to work in pairs to ask and answer. - Call some pairs to ask answer before the class. P1: write new words. P2: complete the story and translate. 1. B4 - Ask and answer. Example: tooth / hurt have / cavity → Minh's tooth hurts. Why? Because he has a cavity. - Then teacher corrects. - Guide pupils to do. - Get pupils to do in groups, and then compare with each other. - Call some pupils to give out the answer. - Teacher corrects. - Teacher reads part B6 once. - Explain some words. - Guide them to read. - Get them to read in silence. - Call some to read. 4. Consolidation: (4’) - Repeat the main content of the lesson. b. nervous see / dentist Minh is / feels nervous. Why? Because he has to see the dentist. c. cavity / not serious small Hoa's cavity is not serious. Why? Because it is small. d. happy teeth / OK Minh is very happy. Why? Because his teeth are OK. 2. Aim. - At the end of the lesson, students can practice with “ Health topic” through the structures: “ Medical check-up, take one’s temperature…” II. Contents: 1.Vocabulary: About the medical check- up 2. Grammar: - Would you like…? III.Teaching aids: - Textbook, picture, radio. IV. Procedure. Activities. Contents. 1 . Warm up . (5’) a. Check the old lesson. - Call students to answer the question: + What do you have to do to keep your teeth healthy? (Brush teeth every day; don't eat too much candy ) b. Warmer. - Guide pupils to play a game named " Brainstorming" with words that talk about our teeth. 2 . Presentation. (15’) - Teacher introduces new lesson: In the last period, we learnt about personal hygiene, teeth protection. In this lesson, we will continue discussing topic on health: medical check - up and common diseases. - Hang picture of part A1 on the board and ask pupils some questions: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? + What do you think they are doing? - Then teacher says: the children of Quang Trung School are having a medical check- up. Can you guess what they will do in a check – up? - Teacher reads part A1 once first. - Introduces some new words. - Guide pupils to get the use and meaning of them. - Teacher reads new words once first. - Guide pupils to read new words twice or more. - Get pupils to read new words in silence. - Gets one by one to read new words loudly. - Check pupils' reading. - Teacher gives an example and repeats form "Would you " - Explaining. - Get them to set up the form. - Get them to translate the modern sentence. - Get them to give some examples. 3. Practice. (20’) - Teacher reads part A1again once. - Guide pupils to read. - Get pupils read part A1 in pairs in silence. - Call some pairs to read. - Check pupil's reading. - Get them to read part A1 again and translate it in to Vietnamese. - Get them to compare their translation with each other. - Call some pairs to translate part A1 before class. - Teacher corrects. - Guide pupils to answer: now, look at “ Now answer”. Use the information given in the conversation you have practices, you put the following sentences in the right orders. - Get pupils to reread part A1, work in pairs to answer the questions. - Get them to compare the answer with each other. KEEP FIT, STAY HEALTHY. Period 67 : A2 I. Aim. - Pupils continue practicing with “ Health topic” through the dialogue between "The Doctor and Hoa" II. Contents: 1.Vocabulary: 2.Grammar: - How + adj ? III. Teaching aids: - Textbook, picture, radio. IV. Procedure. Activities. Contents. 1. Warm up. (5’) a. Check the old lesson. - Get three pupils to go to the board. - Then teacher checks and gives mark. b. Warmer. - Get pupils to introduce about their name, age, height, and weight. 2. Presentation. (10’) - Hang picture of part A2 and ask pupils some questions. + Who are they in the picture? (Hoa and the doctor) + What is Hoa doing? (Hoa is having a medical check up) - Teacher introduces new lesson: This is the conversation between Hoa and the doctor. However some words are missing. You listen to it, Find out the missing words and complete the conversation. - Teacher reads part A2 once. - Give some examples to repeat the old form. P1: write new words. P2 + P3: read and translate part A1. 1. Structures: * Ask and answer about measurement. Example 1: How tall are you? I am 1 meter forty centimeters (tall). Example 2: How heavy are they? They are 80 kilos. 3. Practice. (20’) - Teacher reads the uncompleted dialogue once. - Get them to read it once in silence. - Ask them to work in pairs to complete the dialogue by their own ideas. - Call someone to give his or her answers. Teacher writes his / her answers on the board to compare with the result in the tape. - Get pupils to listen to the tape and check. - Call someone to give out their answers after they listen to the tape. - Teacher plays the tape again once (Sentence by sentence) and corrects. - Call some pairs to read the completed dialogue. - Check their reading. - Get them to reread, translate it in to Vietnamese and compare their translation with each other. - Call some pairs to translate before the class. - Check their translation. 4. Consolidation. (8’) - Ask students to repeat the main content of the dialogue. - Ask pupils some questions. 2. A2 - Listen. Then write the missing words.
