Past Simple Tense (Thì quá khứ đơn) a) Uses: (Cách dùng) 1). Diễn tả những hành động, sự việc, hiện tượng sẩy ra và đã hoàn toàn kết thúc tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ. 2) Chỉ thói quen trong quá khứ. (Optional) 3) Chỉ điều ước không có thực ở hiện tại b) Form: (Cấu trúc) * Tobe: + S + was/were + . E.g. I was a student at HN university. - S + was/were - not + He was not (wasn't) here yesterday. ? Was/Were + S + ? Were you at home last night? * Ordinary verbs: + S + V -ed(regular) /V (irregular) + …… E.g. He arrived here yesterday. - S + didn’t + V + …………… She didn’t go to school yesterday ? Did + S + V + …………… ? Did you clean this table this morning? Note: + Thì quá khứ đơn giản thường được dùng với các trạng từ chỉ thời gian xác định trong quá khứ như : last week / month / year . . .; a week / 3 days / 5 months . . .ago ; yesterday, yesterday morning / evening, In+ past time, in 1945/2008 + Cách đọc các động từ ở thì quá khứ đơn với đuôi "ED". - "ED" được đọc là /t/ khi những động từ nguyên gốc có âm tận cùng là: /f/, /k/, /p/, /s/,/t∫/, /∫/, /dz/. E.g : laughed , asked , helped , watch , pushed , dressed , …………… - "ED" được đọc là /id/ khi những động từ nguyên gốc có âm tận cùng là: /d/; /t/ E.g. : needed , wanted , waited , …… - "ED" được đọc là /d/ khi những động từ nguyên gốc có âm tận là những âm còn lại E.g. : enjoyed , saved , filled ,………. 3.3. Present Perfect Tense (Thì hiện tại hoàn thành) a) Uses: (Cách dùng) 1). Diễn tả một hành động bắt đầu trong quá khứ nhưng còn tiếp tục đến hiện tại hoặc tương lai. * Thường đi với: since (từ khi); for (được bao lâu). E.g1: She has lived here since 1987 E.g2: They have swum for 1 hour 2) Chỉ một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ, không xác định rõ thơi gian. * Thường đi với: already, ever ( before), never (before), not, yet, several times, many times E.g1: She’s been to Japan several times. E.g2: I have never worked in that company before. 3) Chỉ một hành động vừa mới xảy ra. E.g2: They have done the assignment in recent weeks. b) Form: (Cấu trúc) + S + have/has ('ve/s) + P.P + E.g. She has lived here since 1987 - S + have/has - not (haven't/hasn't) + P.P + I haven't seen her for a long time. ? Have/Has + S + P.P + ? Have you done your homework? 4. Homework: T: Ask SS to review some grammar as referred to in the lesson. And prepare Unit 1- Getting started for the next lesson. SS: Do as requested. Text book, work book, picture on page 6, tape and cassette. III. Teaching procedures: 1. Class organization: 2. Warm up: T: Ask Ss to answer the questions given by teacher: - Where did you go and what did you do during your summer holiday? - Did you go to Ha Noi? What places in HN do you know? T: Get SS to imagine that a foreign pen pal is coming to stay with them for a week. What activities would they like to do during the visit? T: Ask SS to look at the pictures in the books and read aloud their names of these places: SS: Give out their ideas by using the prompts: I think I will take my friend to where we can swim, sunbathe or visit SS: Practice with some famous places in Ha Noi: Au Co temple, Heaven pond, Fairy Spring T: Ask some to practice in front the rest. Listen and read Pre- listening and reading: T: Introduce the content of the lesson and the situation. T: Ask SS to scan the first paragraph to tell some thing about Mary am. She visited Lan in Ha Noi and Lan took her to some famous places in Ha Noi: Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, beautiful lakes 4. Consolidation: T: Ask SS to retell the activities that Lan and her friend did in one week in Hanoi. SS: Retell as requested. 5. Home work: T: Give SS some assignments to do at home. SS: Copy and do it all. - Learn by heart all of the new words. - Read the text and do exercise 1 ( page 5 in work book ). - Prepare new lesson : Speak and Listen. Objectives: After the lesson Ss will be able to: 1.Knowledge: - make and respond to the introduction and talk about the cities they live. And listen and do the listening comprehension. Then choose the correct pictures based on the content of the listening. 2. Skill: Speaking/ Listening. 3. Attitude: II. Language contents: 1. Grammar: - Modal: Must - Let me introduce my self/please to meet you 2. Vocabulary: (See vocab below) 3. Teaching aids. Warm up: Games: Introduce Myself T: Guide SS and control them to play it in 4 groups. SS: Play as guided. 2. Old lesson: T: Ask Ss to read and answer the questions given by teacher: - Where did Lan took Maryam to ? Write the names of the places? - What was Maryam impressed by? SS: Give the answers to the questions. T: Ask for comments and feedback with key. 3. New lesson: 3.1. Speaking: Pre-speaking T: Ask SS to look at the book and listen to the introduction of the teacher and then put the dialogue in the correct order. T: Ask SS to work in pairs to discuss and then share the answers to the partners SS: Practice in front the rest. T: Feedback and give the correct answer. Answer key: 1-c, 5-b, 4-d, 2-e, 3-a, 6 While- speaking T: Ask SS to work in pairs to talk by using the information in the book and make similar dialogues introducing yourself to Maryam ‘s friend. T: Call some pairs to practice in front the class. Example exchange: Tuan : Hello, you must be Paul? Paul: That’s right, I am. Tuan: Pleased to meet you, Let me introduce myself. My name is Tuan. I am 15 years old. Paul: Nice to meet you. Do you live in Hanoi ? Tuan: Yes ,I do. Is it the first time you have been to Ha Noi? Paul: Yes, Hanoi is a nice city. People are friendly and very hospitable. Tuan: Where do you live ? Do you live in big city? Paul: I live in Liverpool. It is an industrial city, in the north of England. Have you been there? Tuan: No, I hope I will be able to go there next summer. T: Check the mistakes if necessary. Post-speaking T: Ask SS to work in pairs to rewrite about Maryam ‘s friends: Yoko, Paul, and Jane. Listening: Pre-listening T: Introduce the content of the lesson. And explain the lesson’s order. SS: Listen and try to know what to do with the listening task. T: Ask Ss to look at the pictures and give the meaning of the pictures, then give the differences between the two pictures in a,b,c. Example exchange: - We aren’t allowed to walk on the grass. - We aren’t allowed to pick flowers SS: Introduce the listening and check the number of the correct pictures; While-listening T: Play the tape twice and ask SS to listen and complete the sentences: 1) Tim asked Carlo to go to a downtown. 2) Tim asked Carlo not to walk 3) Carlo said she didn’t see the 4) Tim wanted to catch the bus number SS: Try to guess the answers.
