II/ Revision: (20’) There are many items of English Grammar we need to review but the ones close dealing with new lessons of English 8 are: 1/ The Simple Present Tense: - Ask Ss to go on board to complete the forms with V or Vs/es; do or does. Listen and read the dialogue between them" - Ask Ss to listen to the tape. - Have them read the dialogue in pairs. * Practice the dialogue with a partner.(L & R1) - Call on some pairs to play in roles before the class. - Correct the mistakes in pronunciation if necessary. * Comprehension: (L & R 2) Answer the following sentences: - Ask Ss to read the dialogue again and find out the information to answer the given questions (a->d P.11- text book). - Get Ss to work in pairs to answer the questions. - Call on some pairs to answer before the class. - Correct the mistakes and give answer keys. * Key: a/ She lives in Hue. b/ No, she doesn't know Nien. c/ Hoa said "She wasn't old enough to be in my class". d/ Nien is going to visit Hoa at Christmas. 3/ Model sentences: (5’) * Set the scene: "Lan wants to know Nien's appearance. S + be + Adj… * Use: -> to describe appearance of a person. <2> : S + be+ (not)+ Adj + enough + to Infi. 4/ Practice: Word Cue Drills (10’) <1> a/ Lan/ tall c/ Nien/ beautiful b/ Tuan/ handsome d/ Your father/ fat. - Ask Ss to work in pairs. - Do R.O.R Listen to the situation, listen and read the dialogue. - Practice the dialogue with a partner. - Answer some comprehension questions: - Work in pairs to answer the questions. - Give feed back. * Copy the correct answers in the notebooks. * Listen to the scene and try to give out the model sentences - Practice the model sentences then copy them in the notebook. - Notice the forms, the meanings of the new structures. * Practice: - Work in pairs. B/ Language contents: * Vocabulary: Adjectives describing hair and body build; * Grammar: Be + Adj ; Adj + N(s). to Have. C/ Materials: Textbook; posters, stereo- tape… D/ Procedure: Teacher's activities Students' activities I/ Warm up: Brain Storming: (5’) - Ask Ss to go to the board and write on adjectives decribing hair, bodybuild. - Go to the board to write on adjectives about body build and hair. Picture Cues Drill: (a- f) - Ask Ss to run through the pictures P. 11- 12. - Ask Ss to run through the given adjectives describing body build and hair in the boxes. - Ask Ss to describe each person (in a, b, c) Eg: Mr. Lai is short and fat. He has short curly hair. - Call on some Ss to practice before the class. - Correct the mistakes if necessary. 2. Guessing game: - Ask Ss to prepare a peace of paper and write on it a name of one of their classmates and keep secret. - Do a model first: T: This person is tall, thin and pretty. She has thin fat * Practice the new words then copy them in the notebook. - Do Matching on board. - Work in pairs to read the dialogue between Hoa and Lan. - Answer the questions to give out the model sentences. - Practice the model sentences then copy them in. - Notice the forms. * Practice speaking: - Describe the person in each picture, using the adjectives in the box and the pictures a- f. - Some pairs practice before the class. - Play the game. - prepare a peace of paper and write on it a name of one of their classmates and keep secret. (There are 6 gaps) * Prediction: - Ask Ss to predict filling in the gaps with a suitable expression in the box. - Get feed back. Write the predictions on the board.
