Teacher’s: Textbook, lesson plan, cassette player, disc, and handouts 2. Student’s: Textbook, drafting paper andor extra board, and marker C. Procedure 1. Activity one: Warming up and leading in (7 minutes) Use picture(s) to lead Ss to the reading topic Music (Get Ss to discuss in pairs what they know about the logos. Call on a few Ss to report the result of their discussion. Get Ss to brainstorm the names of some current contest TV shows. Elicit their answers to these questions: Ask questions in Reading 1 (p.29): o What are your favourite TV contest shows? o Have you seen Vietnam Idol Tieng Hat Truyen Hinh Tieng Hat Mai Xanh? What do you think about it them? Ask Ss to do the reading. (p.9) 2. Activity two: Reading 2, p.29. (7 minutes) Ask Ss to read quickly and pay attention to the information related to the years 2001, 2002, 2012 Let Ss do the activity individually, set a time limit. Have Ss discuss their answers in groups. Activity three: Understanding words and references from contexts, Reading 3 p.9. (7 minutes) Ask Ss to have a look at 5 target words in Reading 3 (p.9). Ask Ss to read the text again to understand the words in context and do the task individually. Help Ss understand more clearly the target words in context when necessary. Activity four: Answering the questions (8 minutes) Ask Ss to read the questions in Reading 5, p.9. Help Ss identify the key words to make the reading at ease. Ask Ss to read the text silently to find the answers (As) for the questions (Qs). Ask Ss to compare work with a partner. Check, comment and feedback Ss’ work.
